Bret Maughan's incident happened on July 14, 2011. His 5-day suspension was announced on August 25, 2011. That's also off-season. Just sayin'... http://www.wdaz.com/event/article/id/10241/

What an absolute shame that nobody thought of having the coach pull the vehicle over. Thank God nobody got hurt - in the player/coach vehicle or another vehicle.
-
Sure does. Resigning shouldn't have even been a choice in this instance, in my humblest of opinions.

I don't believe for a minute that the 20something kid at the counter renting me a car has access to run DMV records from every state in the country, not to mention browse around and check and see what the driving record of his buddies and co-workers look like. There is no national database tied to your social security number or any other number where your entire driving history can be found.
-
When is the last time you purchased or rented a car? No dealer or rental outfit has access to your state driving record.

Why was Hardee's contract not amended after the first incident to include some sort of clause to prevent a second one. Hardee actually did UND a favor by resigning. Had he been outright fired, UND would be stuck paying his buyout. I'm also pretty sure a 20 minute trip by Hardee to the DMV for a certified copy of his own driving record showing proof of reinstatement of his driver's license would have been acceptable enough for Faison as evidence that the DL had been reinstated by the state of ND. Talk about dropping the ball on that one...

Yea, Cardinal's the Gopher fan and DHG is the Bulldog fan. Both putzes. Whatever happened to Fire Helmet Guy #26 on this site?
-
Yea, that clown was a UMD hockey fan...he goes by the name of DrunkHockeyGuy over on GPL and runs the Duluth Bulldog fan site as well.
-
No apology necessary. Off-topic: Larry Csonka-era uniforms rocked Miami. New ones are garbage.
-
I had a feeling that was the case.
-
And does this sound like a coach resigning on his own or was this resignation made by Hardee as Faison was figuratively pointing a gun at his head?
-
I was by no means suggesting that level of seriousness...just confused why Hardee would resign so quickly.
-
Apples to oranges. Sioux to Sio would be apples to apples.

MSU-Mankato puts their head football coach on paid admin leave for a year while he fights crim sex conduct charges...but UND's volleyball coach resigns over a fender-bender?
-
OK, maybe Braves and Bras is a bad example...or maybe it's not?
-
Talk about ups and downs...Maine smokes BU and BC...and then goes to Vermont and promptly gets swept.

December 4, 2013: Second batch of SiouxSports.com hats are done and ready to be sorted out and shipped. Pick-up details coming in the next couple of days.

Wow, that's very sad. Nice gesture, sprig. Right place, right time. Sometimes you're chosen for such things.

I absolutely detest nicknames where the name is shortened to something that isn't even a word. For example, some of the worst jerseys of recent memory include the 1980's "CAVS" jerseys for Cleveland as well as the BOLTS jerseys that Tampa Bay wore and the SENS jerseys of the Ottawa Senators. Sens? Really? You would never call the Dodgers the Dods or the Braves the Bras, so why something as lame as Cavs? Yuck.

http://www1.umn.edu/...ca_policies.pdf To promote an atmosphere of respect the University of Minnesota Athletics Department shall make every effort to avoid scheduling home events with schools that use Native American mascots. The use of Native American mascots by athletic teams is perceived by many in our community as portraying Native American culture in demeaning and stereotypical ways. Consequently, the department will strongly discourage the scheduling of athletic events on campus when the team(s) involved use Native American mascots. When teams using Native American mascots participate in athletic events on this campus, the Native American mascots, nicknames and symbols will not be permitted to be displayed (except as they pre-exist on teams uniforms, equipment and apparel). Teams will be described and announced using the institution’s name only. In addition, the University of Minnesota's Athletics Department shall make every effort not to host any preseason, regular season or postseason competition at sites, venues, or facilities which have membership requirements or practices which result in discrimination on the basis of race, gender, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. IF A TEAM HAS A NATIVE AMERICAN MASCOT NAME AND THE NCAA HAS APPROVED IT AND THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON THAT TEAM, THEN THIS POLICY DOES NOT APPLY. In short, if its racist and hurtful, we should avoid playing your school...UNLESS the NCAA says it's ok, then this policy goes right out the window.

It's a hunch, but I think Johnny Football is closer to being the next Ryan Leaf than the next Peyton Manning.

I am enjoying watching Minnesota play the Florida State Seminoles in the Big 10/ACC Challenge tonight. Nickname policy-schmolicy... Total hypocrites.

I'd still take Yzerman today over Sidney Crysby. Cue DaveK's response in 3...2...1...
-
Actually, he's the GM...and Paul Coffey and Brendan Shanahan are retired. Yea, I know...
-
Groan...NHL 2013 thread...more of the same. Zetterberg out with herniated disc. Maybe Yzerman can lace 'em up for a few weeks while he's out.
