I just talked with an NCHC rep over at the "Let's Play Hockey" expo in St Paul...obviously, that's the playoff champion trophy...but the name is being kept a secret until some point in the tournament.

Hmnnn...tell me again the great "disadvantage" that Trinity High School has had in the SW corner of ND since they dropped to Class B. And don't get me started on good old New England St Mary's, with their billet Catholic families more than willing to host a kid who could use some guidance and Christian education...oh, and it helped if he was 6'5" and could hoop it up, too.

My bad. I was still stuck on darell's assertion that UND should bump up to FBS and got lost in my own thoughts with respect to his post when commenting on yours. I agree with you...UND shouldn't expect to far any worse at the FCS level than the school 70 miles to the south of Grand Forks.

I guess if you consider me skeptical of being able to compete, in terms of fan support, $$$$, and on the field, with the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida State, Texas, USC, Michigan, and Ohio State, then by all means, I'm small-minded.

I'm sorry, but when I think of "upper FCS teams," I would put dozens of schools ahead of the University of North Dakota. That's just the way it is.

You tell me...if the exclusion of St Louis by Yzerman was so deplorable, who would YOU have left home? I offered up Kunitz...and judging by his performance in the first couple of games in Sochi, I don't think it was unfair to second-guess the Kunitz over St Louis initial selection. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/olympics--2014-olympics--canada-wins-again--but-it-s-time-to-lose-chris-kunitz-from-the-lineup-222528154.html None of this changes the fact that St Louis made the team, won a gold medal, and then cried and whined his way out of Tampa Bay when he returned.

The link I included was provided to show you that before and during the Olympics, Canadian media was questioning the inclusion of Kunitz on the team. Let's be honest...Canada would have won gold with Roberto Luongo sitting back home on his couch and Wilbur suited up as the third goalie. Arguments here have questioned why St Louis was left off the team in the first place. I put Kunitz on the chopping block for reasons similar to those being offered by plenty of Canadian hockey folks. I'm actually giving Yzerman credit for having the guts to not pick his own player over someone who he thought was a better fit for the Olympics - but you've conveniently ignored that. Yzerman made a difficult decision - and it unfortunately cost him his team captain. BTW...Kunitz...6 games, 8 shots, 1 goal.

I seem to remember lots of naysayers talking about how horrible it was to have the tournament there. I thought it was incredible. Great site for the B tournament.
