Totally agree with you there, fs4l. That team quite possibly had another 1-3 Super Bowl appearances left in it had Johnson remained the coach after 1993. I also think had Dallas re-signed Ken Norton Jr instead of letting him walk to San Francisco after that season, Dallas would have won three consecutive Super Bowls (Norton Jr went to San Fran in 1994 and was a key factor in helping them get past Dallas).

Tennessee was 11-2 in Peyton's last season. They were humiliated by your Nebraska team in the Orange Bowl. The 1998 team went 13-0 and won the national championship with Tee Martin at QB.

I dunno, fs4l, why don't you try telling your next interviewer that you were "fired" from your job and see what the reaction is as opposed to telling him/her that you "quit." Jerry Jones is a prick, I get it. But Jimmy Johnson went out of his way to publicly humiliate Jerry every chance he got and Jerry was finally fed up with it, so he canned Jimmy. I'm pretty sure I was absolutely skewered on this board last year for commenting about the scheduling of Valpo while everyone else viewed that game as some sort of program measuring-stick for UND. So you're saying UND can build on a 16-13 win over a bad opponent but had RMU won 16-13, there would be nothing to build upon?

Everyone knew what happened in that elevator - the video wasn't even necessary. Welcome to the NFL - where a coach gets suspended for 3 games for making a disparaging comment in a practice and a player gets 2 games for punching a woman in the face and dragging her out of an elevator.

It's funny you should mention that defense given the loss of DeMarcus Ware this year. In the 2005 draft, over-rated player expert Bill Parcells wanted to draft Marcus Spears and was over-ruled by Jones, who wanted Ware. Ironically enough, Spears was still available at #20 and wound up with the Cowboys anyways. No way the Cowboys get Ware if they took Spears at #11.

If you want to call Miami (OH) an FBS team, sure, you're technically correct. However, the Redhawks' last win was October 27, 2012. They lost their final 4 games that season, 12 games last season, and are now 0-1 this season. That's a 17 game losing streak...ouch. Doesn't that Ben Roethlisberger guy still have a year of eligibility left? He might be able to help a bit...

Boy, for a guy who has accused me of putting words in your mouth, you sure do the same without so much as a second thought. Nothing is absolute, however, if academics played such a big part of the recruitment of college football players, schools wouldn't need black-out games, chrome helmets, and 75 different uniform combinations in order to lure star recruits, would they?

I doubt whether the average potential football recruit or football fan watching GameDay is thinking "yea, they're 3-time FCS champions, but how is their aerospace program?"

So now league doormat Weber State is a conference hero for staying within 17 points of NDSU at home?
