Probably a good thing that next year is the last year at the X, because people are probably worn out with the one and done that has become the standard. You watch, once it moves to the high seed’s campus, we will no longer win league titles.  We don’t seem to be taking advantage of opportunity for home ice type environments.

The difference in speed between Denver and North Dakota is beyond unbelievable today.  It’s almost like one of the two teams wearing white actually wants to WIN this tournament.

  2. Welp, it was mentioned a few times to me during the Miami game earlier tonight (or last night as the case may be now), so I guess the question should be asked…

The annual Hoggsbreath event has happened since 2001 save for the Covid year of 2020.  Whaddya think, next Saturday in Little Canada, MN, like always?  Thinking 10:30 am for the folks wanting to hit the Wild game…please respond here if you will make it.  I’ll decide by Thursday night if it’ll happen!

They played like they got HJ's right before both Omaha games.

BEFORE?  Seems like they may have had some “helpers” on the bench mid-game!

So if Sioux beat Miami in two it's all HJ's and mimosas? #mafiaman

Just mimosas.  No HJ’s unless they win the Frozen Faceoff.

Zombo let go by Lindenwood. Wow. Figured he had more time to get things going, it's not exactly a slam dunk to recruit there.

    HOLY SMOKES!

  6. If I can get about 100 more orders, I’ll be able to buy X from Elon Musk.  Just kidding, but I’ll at least be at even-money.

I think someone’s act of valor would be better directed at turning in 20,000 or so people wearing fake Chinese hockey jerseys as opposed to chasing down 50-60 folks driving their respective vehicles with a $5 keychain attached to their fob.

Under Kris Mayotte, in his first season, the team won 9 games (winning %, .292), including a road victory at a ranked Boston College. In Mayotte’s second year, he won 13 games (winning %, .382). His Tigers went on the road as the seventh seed and knocked off #7 nationally ranked Western Michigan and then they went on to St. Paul and shut out the #3 ranked DU Pioneers in the Frozen Faceoff semifinals.

This year, his Tigers have already won 13 games, equaling last year’s total and they have a .614 winning percentage.  The Tigers are knocking on the door of both a top four conference finish (currently just 1 point behind Western Michigan) with a chance at hosting in the first round for the first time in over a decade and they currently sit at 16th in the pairwise. I’d say Mayotte has done everything a CC fan and administrator could possibly ask for and more, especially given the deep hole his predecessor had dug the program into prior to his arrival.

With a brand new on campus barn and the program winning, you are routinely seeing at or near capacity crowds and a growing student section that frankly had vanished in the mid-2000’s. There is genuine excitement and chatter about the hockey team on campus and in the community.

If anything, I see CC on an upward trajectory and if Mayotte continues to lead the team to even greater heights, I could see opportunities at bigger more ‘blue blood’ programs in his future (ala, Don Lucia in the late 1990’s going to Minnesota after turning around a near lifeless CC program that up until his first year on the job hadn’t won a McNaughton cup since 1957). Mayotte’s job at CC is very secure.

    Sheesh…no, he won’t date you, @Godsmack!

I think Miami has a commitment issue and they should be kicked out of the league.

Fiscal 2022 they somehow had a lower overall budget and lower travel budget than they did in 2016.  Their NCHC.TV broadcast is probably a good indication of their current commitment level.  Just kinda guessing, but pair that with the comments from their AD, and I don't think changing the coach will fix anything.

    Yikes.

Ummm no. Mostly speaking from the men’s side but top 10ish NAIA teams are easily capable of beating bottom 25-50 D1 teams. We just saw a top 20 women’s Mayville State beat a bad D1 team in UND. 3 years ago a BAD Mayville State men’s team lost by 4 to a terrible D1 UND men’s team. Confused on where you are confused

So outside of Chaminade beating Virginia in 1982 and Arizona Christian defeating Northern Arizona in 2013, what else ya got?

Your goal post moved from “often beat” bad D1 men’s teams all the way to “being easily capable” of beating them.

In either scenario — in men’s OR women’s hoops, apparently — sadly, the common denominator seems to be UND basketball.

I personally enjoyed my kid getting food poisoning at Xcel and throwing up all the way home.  I don't know if that was more fun or finding a food place that was actually open at the X....that was fun too...

The last NCHC Frozen Faceoff will be in 2025, however, MY last Frozen Faceoff was 2023.

So what happens if the finals end up staying in a place like Miami or for example, Western Michigan where those stadiums can’t see more than 4000 people we are going to lose quite a bit of money because of this decision

Good for Miami or WMU if they host a conference title game in front of a packed house of fans…as opposed to them playing in front of 100 family members and girlfriends at the X.

The energy difference between last spring’s Michigan vs Minnesota and Colorado College vs St Cloud State games spoke volumes.

It’s just a shame we have 2 more years of Frozen Faceoffs.
