If only there wasn’t a 10,000 seat arena across the river from this arena. :whistling:

UND didn’t get anywhere near 10K at the X on Friday…what makes you think there would be that many in St. Louis?

C'mon Mafia...you know that wouldn't have happened.  Somehow we're always able to ramp it up for the Pios.

So if they get RIT this coming week instead of Michigan (and I know they won’t, but hypothetically speaking)…

    See the problem?

Yeah, it's definitely time to get the regionals back on campus.  I know Mafia enjoyed his time at Yost Arena back in the day.(1998?)

I don’t disagree, Denver was far away the better team, it’s just that it wasn’t decided until the last six minutes. Anyone of those open rushes by Omaha could’ve ended up with a tie game previous to that. Hockey is a fun sport, momentum can shift in a second. and quite frankly, the first two Denver goals were not exactly highlight goals.

And that’s a credit to UNO and how they played.  Take the middleman out of the equation and make it UND’s performance vs Denver’s?  Frankly, I’m glad I didn’t have to witness a 4 pm seminal with UND losing to the Pioneers 8 or 9 to 1.

That's weird, both those fanbases are known for traveling well.

    ;)

Doesn’t matter.  We have folks complaining about the small rink where UND is going…the attendance issue works both ways.

Interesting argument I saw to keep UMass out and I agree with it. Last time UMass beat a team in the NCAA tournament field was on 10/14/23 against Michigan. Record against teams in the top 16 is 1-8-2.

CC is 9-9-1 against the top 16 in the tournament.

    The RPI difference is .0004

Cue the Minutemen getting smoked 8-0 in their first tournament game while the Tigers watch from their dorm room couches…

2,500 seats is pretty ridiculous for a college hockey regional, but this arena in Maryland Heights looks very nice. If it wasn't Easter weekend, I'd be tempted to make the trip if we got placed there. The atmosphere would be pretty cool.

Ridiculous for a regional?  I’ll tell you what’s ridiculous for a regional…the 2016 championship game in St Paul between Ferris State and Denver on Easter Sunday.  In an arena that holds 18,000+, I was one of maybe 250 people in attendance.  Why are we complaining about small arenas?

I get that, but it was still a one shot game with six minutes to go. With that said things could’ve turned out very differently. so I think dumped is strong language. I’ll also say that some of the penalties called on Omaha were “soft“.

Denver never appeared to be in any sort of danger - like at all.  Contrast that to UND getting outworked in all phases of the game a day earlier.

Cool that some of the boys got home in time for the Sam Hunt concert though.  That worked out nicely.

Just want the team to be playing their best at the end of the year not coming out flat and playing poorly , which happens a lot under this coach.

I was told to remember losing in the Frozen Faceoff in 2016 and look what happened…

Maybe we could build a city out of ice fishing sheds! Paint them all green!

Be careful…anything with the word “green” in it is likely to get a good look-see from St. Paul government staff!

The X was completely empty for the second game. Everyone knows Denver fans are too cheap to travel.

Straw man argument.  Put 20+ years of tournaments in Denver instead of St. Paul and there would be plenty of Denver and CC fans in attendance.

I just dropped over $500 for a weekend tournament in my own backyard…don’t have enough spare cash in my dresser drawer every spring to fund a 2-4 day hotel stay in Denver.  Maybe that’s just me though…

If Berry didn’t win in 2016 would he still be the head coach ? His teams do not finish well at all #Berryswoon.

1 NCAA tournament win since 2016…against AIC.  If it’s 1 and done again in 2024…yikes.

Me and any of my kids who aren't in school or working will be there!  I'll tell some stories about the 2000 Frozen Four in Providence. ;)

To be honest, I’m kind of relieved that I don’t have to crawl out of bed at 8 am to get to the Hogg by 10 am after another sad-sack showing by the team in this tournament.  2010, 2011, and 2012 seem like forever ago…

wonder if the x would take a small(er) buyout from nchc and they could make more money using these nights for concerts or whatnot next year instead of waiting another year....how many people are there right now and how many will be there tomorrow?

I bet 3/4 of the UND fans here today won’t be back tomorrow.
