How nice is it to see the Maine Black Bears in the tournament again?
Paging the UNH Wildcats…

Wow1 Two games and my bracket is still perfect! I think that's a new record!
You’re tied with me for the lead!

I think the being sent out east argument would really only be valid if we were the #1 seed.
This is the same fan base who had plenty of members grumbling that the Pairwise formula needed to be tweaked after UND was left watching last year’s tournament, remember?

I would agree with that. It might be getting echoed wider now because of the reach of UND fans are largest mass in number as well as CHN, GFH, etc posting about the issue with having the largest traveling fanbase that could fill that rink by itself.
The rink location was decided 3 or 4 years ago. Perhaps bracket integrity should have gone out the window so that UND could play in front of 2,500 fans in a 15,000 seat arena out east? But then we’d be whining about being sent out east. It’s a conundrum.

Denver looks tired
Well they should be…they played the late game last Friday night in St Paul.

Any other teams there no one would've made a fuss. Should there be a 2500 seat rink for regional? No, but beggers cant be choosers either. Not alot of western facilities that can meet the requirements of seating, non host site, etc. Need to develop more western programs, even then you wont have 5 schools within 30 miles like you do out east but would still help, still a north eastern heavy system D1 hockey is.
So we’re in agreement then that it’s primarily UND fans whining and no one else?

To be fair I think the whining was the fans and not the team.
Yes, that’s what I was inferring as well.

One thing I found interesting on this as well was Denver being a 1 seed and being forced to play a 10am game their time.
While we’re busy whining about our venue’s seating capacity…

When was out last OT win in the NCAA tournament? Drawing a blank. The losses are what sticks with you.
Well, when you lose with .6 on the 3rd period clock, even OT losses get forgotten about.

No it's OT until someone scores
(My post was total sarcasm).

And it's real OT!
Do they go to penalty shots if no one scores in OT? It’s so exciting!

Given what I saw of Denver last weekend, this is rather shocking. A third-rate Hockey East team…yikes.

UMass has seen a lot of BC and BU so DU is not shocking them.

If, and that's a big if, this year's team reaches the Frozen Four, will you put on a special edition of the Hoggsbreath Brunch? And maybe a victory party after hanging #9?
No.

Really going into hypothetical situations here.
But for sure. Hakstol had some of the best NCAA tourney success in college hockey history, not just among UND coaches. He just couldn't win that last game. The number of F4 he went to in his tenure is absurd.Well, what if Hakstol beat DU in 2005? Would he still be the coach at UND? Hypothetically speaking, of course…

Back on topic, don’t let me down, DU!

I feel like the doomsday scenario changes depending on the coach though.
There were yearly threads calling for replacing Hakstol on here.
There are yearly threads calling for replacing Berry on here. With Hakstol, everyone claimed he couldn't get the team over the last hump, despite leading them to countless F4.
With Berry, everyone claims he can't get the team motivated to make a run in the NCAA tourney...and his first title was Hakstol's team.
In truth, any coach is going to face a tough crowd here on ss.com, unless they win a title every 2-3 years.I deleted my original post by accident after trying to edit it. Obviously the records I listed depend on UND losing to Michigan tomorrow.
If DU pulls out a semifinal win over UND in 2016, is there really any question on Berry’s performance being WORSE than Hakstol’s?

Size of the rink doesn’t really matter…nobody goes to neutral site regionals at 2 in the afternoon on a Thursday.
We’ll see what the small rink looks like on Good Friday soon enough.

It is beyond stupid that those four teams will play in a sub 3,000 seat arena. College hockey is a laughing joke at this point. Embarrassing stuff from the ncaa.

Welp, which way do we want it, boys?
