@MafiaMan fireworks and mimosas standard fare for an exhibition game win?

Only if it’s in the shootout!;)

Fireworks, no.  Mimosas, yes.  Some freshman probably getting that third thing right about now…

  2. Not jersey related but we really don’t have a “swap meet” or “for sale” section other than for tickets.  I need about 50 orders for another batch of keychains (see photo).  $5 each + postage if I can get enough pre-orders!

  3. FBS vs FCS and FCS vs NAIA one week apart from each other.  The drop-off from the top to the bottom is astounding.

Hopefully UND is busy focusing on upcoming FCS opponents instead of worrying about the woulda, coulda, and shoulda of Boise State.

we meant murray state, mcneese state, and isu.................

I’m trying to wrap my head around how folks think a middle-of-the-road FCS team would roll into Boise and expect to walk away with a W.   SDSU or NDSU might be able to do that - but it’s still a BIG maybe.

    Exactly.  Not a great comparison.

Florida doesn’t care about football?  Surely, you jest.  The fact that the other two schools who “could care less about football” absolutely whooped two FCS schools kind of proves my point, doesn’t it?

Ask NDSU (and even SDSU of late) if those odds hold up… I’ll wait.

You're supporting mediocrity, and there’s no reasonable way to spin it. It’s not just you, though; it’s a culture issue.

Some FBS/FCS scores from last weekend for you:

    Florida 49, McNeese State 7

    Louisville 56, Murray State 0

    Indiana 41, Indiana State 7

You’re right, Boise is a decent FCS team basically. You know what’s better than collecting a 650k check? Collecting a 650k check and winning.

Yep, sure is.  And realistically when it’s FCS vs FBS, there’s about a 1 in 25 chance of that.

I can’t believe some people here actually watch the same thing happen over and over again every single big game for the last 10 years and keep defending it.

I don’t get how you are just okay with losing in big games and then making excuses. At some point Bubba and crew need to actually get it done or move on.

Did you really expect UND to beat a decent FCS team today?  I didn’t.  $650K check collected, mission accomplished.

The 49ers looking real dumb moving up and giving away 4 1st round picks for basically a 4th.

Or else looking real SMART by drafting their franchise QB with the last pick in the NFL draft…

You’re trying too hard, Sun Devils.

Ditch the unnecessary round patch or put it on the shoulder.

    Maroon breezers.

3 CCM logos and 3 Adidas logos on the uniform set is ridiculous.

I think my work here is done.

Well, let's see:  SCSU, Mankato, Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, Air Force (see if they wanted to invest more in the program) or nothing.  I would have looked at nothing for a short period of time.  After, the success of the Penn State startup (it started the problem) and a number of other rumor schools out there...  Waiting would have been the best option.  See which schools are going to step up.  It's not like those schools would not be available for scheduling.  And I fully acknowledge that 7 is not ideal but to have the NCHC pound more schools in nonconference would have also been a benefit in the pairwise.

I agree with you on Michigan Tech but sadly, they were among the non-like-minded schools that UND wanted to get rid of.  Bowling Green being in would have greatly helped out Miami.  I think Air Force and Mankato would have been appealing candidates as well.

No hindsight here..  I have been against SCSU for a long time.  I thought it was a mistake then and I still do now.  The conference made a bad decision because they thought that they had to..  Again, huge fan of the NCHC and I believe that it has worked out better than anyone thought.  But, SCSU was a mistake and IMO Gino did what was best for Gino, but he failed the NCHC.

As you noted in your post, there was no compelling reason to add SCSU.

Notre Dame would have been a great choice.  Tossing them out of the equation, who would have been your pick in place of SCSU?

I thought that it was about Hockey schools that wanted to compete against the Big 10 and not worry about cost containment schools.  Look at the facilities being built at Augie/St. Thomas.  They aren't looking for second place.  They are going to come in ready to compete and those arenas will be sold out with great crowds.

Then look at the trends at SCSU..  school is in decline programs being cut and sports programs have already been cut.  Which schools are growing and which one isn't?  It is not about being a regional conference.  It is about have the best schools to compete with the Big 10.  I think you are badly misreading the cards on the table.

We both know that SCSU was admitted for two reasons:

#1.  Because Notre Dame said, “no thanks”

    and

#2.  A nice thank you to SCSU “consultant” Gino Gasparini

Are you suggesting that SCSU was a terrible selection a decade ago?  That’s some pretty impressive hindsight.

What about Lindenwood and Bemidji State.

Gotta assume that Augustana is going to be in the Summit soon. Why else would they have added hockey but to appease the hockey schools in the conference?

So the “National” Collegiate Hockey Conference, which so desperately wanted to be spread across the country, now seeks to become more “regional” with Bemidji State, St. Thomas, Augustana, etc.?

Hell, why don’t we just grab Mankato and Michigan Tech and put the whole WCHA band (minus Wisconsin and Minnesota obviously) back together again while we’re at it?

More likely way NCHC returns to eight teams:

    - ASU leaves (assumedly for B1G)
    or
    - MnSCU shuts down SCSU (declining enrollment, budget issues)

Do you really think that’s possible?

I’m a little perplexed at the rationale too.

Well, would they owe us the buyout?

Either way, it's not embarrassing to lose a school to the big ten.  It's not like we're the Pac 12.

So the hockey team committing to the NCHC followed by ASU leaving for the B1G…which would prompt  the hockey team to leave the NCHC before ever playing a conference game or be a one-and-done conference team.  Not a bad look for the NCHC?
