  1. The cummerbunds have been in use all season long by Wisconsin, Louisville, and others. Looks awful.
  2. Uh, no. I was Fab Five all the way. I have been a Michigan hoops guy going back to the days of Antoine Joubert and Gary "The General" Grant. That 1989 team led by Glen Rice was amazing too. And if 1993's team played North Carolina's 10 times, Michigan wins 9. I only wish that Jalen Rose could have mopped the floor with Bobby Hurley in 1992.
  3. Actually, I thought ESPN tried to make Laettner look like a good guy.
  4. Shouldn't you be busy stuffing the UND nickname mailbox with your witty selection?
  5. Is this Prom '15 or what? Are those white cummerbunds that Wisconsin's wearing? WTF, Adidas?
  6. Had a mini-class reunion in Dickinson last week when I was home for a short visit. I showed up in my "I HATE PAUL DEMKE" t-shirt. Bierman was pretty average that night but a couple of guards who had made like 3 three-pointers all season hit something like a dozen that night. Jim Schroeder didn't win the big one either until moving on to Fort Yates. Back on topic, is it Thursday yet?
  7. Anyone else watching "The Returned"?
  8. Awesome videos, NDSU grad. What was Lakota's nickname back in the day? They're combined with Edmore now, correct? How about McVille? I seem to recall the announcers going back and forth on "Mick-ville" and "Mac-ville."
  9. Well, Ox, I am jealous not only of that, I am equally jealous of you and your state B boys tournament record, too - a 5'3" point guard. Whooda thunk that back in 1986? Didn't Kevin Bierman also dunk a ball so hard on you that it smacked off your forehead and left a giant backwards "Spalding" imprint there for a week?
  10. Didn't the Bruins steal the Penguins' colors? It's a shame that the Penguins didn't move to Kansas City a few years ago. Imagine the uproar that would have created had Pittsburgh promptly built a new arena and the Bruins relocated there.
  11. Didn't they put up 10 on Brain and the 'Roid Crew?
  12. Seriously, though, I need to add a skating Friar jersey to the collection...and SOON!
  13. I'm not sure where you were at but he caught some flack in '98 and that really ratcheted up in '99. The '00 title quieted that talk but the team lost in '01, watched its biggest rival win in '02 and '03, and finally lost in the regional with what some folks thought was his best team in '04. If you don't think there was some talk of Dean Blais having lost his Midas touch, you're wrong.
  14. You're looking at the KPH reading, not MILES per hour, Goon.
  15. I'd agree with you, although UND did get to 3-2 in the 2nd before giving up two late goals, including that dagger with less than 30 seconds left to make it 5-2 at the break. Didn't exactly get that "epic comeback" vibe headed into the 3rd either...
  16. Would anyone else here like to see Goon and DaveK just meet in an alley somewhere and slug it out already?
  17. I had to re-wind the DVR because I wasn't sure where the game was being played. I thought it was in Japan.
  18. I guess it all depends on whether the coach was cheating with the hot stripper at the King of Diamonds or with the snaggle-tooth chain-smoking divorcee living across the street from him, wouldn't it?
  19. 2006: BC comes into the Frozen Four having smoked Miami 5-0 and BU 5-0 in the regional. They promptly "blowout" North Dakota 6-5. 2007: BC beats St Lawrence 4-1 and Miami 4-0 en route to a 6-4 "blowout" over North Dakota in the Frozen Four. The 6th goal was an empty-netter. 2008: BC beats Minnesota 5-2 and Miami 4-3 in OT before thumping UND 6-1 in the Frozen Four. No doubt, a good old-fashioned out-behind-the-woodshed whoopin'. By no means am I suggesting that North Dakota played well in any of those Frozen Four games against BC, but I get tired of the revisionist history that the Eagles skated UND right out of the building those three consecutive seasons. The only true "blowout" was the 2008 game.
  20. Yes, you're correct. Considering all those losses to BC in the tournament, it's quite stunning to actually look back and realize that the Eagles only won ONE title in years when they beat ND in the tourney.
  21. 2005: Denver (title game) 2008: BC (semi-final game) 2013: Yale (regional final)
  22. ESPN's Sports Reporters spent 5 minutes on Indiana's new state law today and nary a word was said about Harrison's comment. I guarantee you that had Kentucky won and Frank Kaminsky said the exact same comment about Harrison, we'd be looking at wall-to-wall coverage about the incident on every channel.
  23. Duke vs Wisconsin...I think I'll just root for the arena to implode on Monday night.
