Adrian Peterson wants trade to Cowboys
MafiaMan replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Non-collegiate sports
http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/04/07/adrian-peterson-anxious-start-new-chapter?xid=nl_siextra So Adrian Peterson is 'anxious to start a new chapter,' eh? Would it be fair to say that AP is looking to 'make a switch' at this point in his career? -
I haven't da slightest idea what you are talkin' aboud...but some friends of mine work in dat field and dey tell me dat a broken knee cap is, shall we say, a "career-ending" injury, if you, uh, catch my drift.
-
Well, one is sort-of a take on the Washington State Cougars logo, one looks like the Cincinnati Bengals, and one looks like a character from The Village People...
-
You're a tough customer to please, 82SiouxGuy. Perhaps these "iconic" logos are more up your alley than Michigan's M or Ohio State's O... No thanks. I'd take a simple ND over those any day of the week.
-
Sorry, but telling us all his current BAC and giving the measurements of the strippers on duty at Augie's don't qualify as big newsworthy scoops in my book.

We sure had some good times there back in the day, didn't we? I seem yo recall 01grad being there a lot as well.

The 2014-2015 NHL Non-Penguins Non-Bruins Thread
MafiaMan replied to MafiaMan's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Un, moderators, where are you guys? I see a couple of teams who are not to be mentioned in this thread being mentioned in this thread! -
Alabama seems to do just fine with an "A" and Oregon's "O" has quickly become an easily-recognized logo. I also need to clarify that Notre Dame's primary logo actually IS the interlocking ND. The fighting leprechaun logo is a secondary mark.
-
I totally get the need to be different than Notre Dame...which is why I like this logo.
-
By my count, 1/2 of the top 20 schools in terms of merchandise sales for 2013-2014 had primary logos that consisted of only letters - West Virginia, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Georgia being among them. Yes, Texas is a biggie at #1 with their burnt orange Longhorn logo, but even Notre Dame relies on the interlocking ND as much as the fighting-stance leprechaun logo. Some sort of logo other than an ND isn't an absolute must-have.
-
Which is why logos like the Wisconsin W, the Michigan M, the Boston Red Sox B, the Yankees' NY, etc. are so popular to this day. The only place the Brien logo looked good was on the hockey jerseys. It was practically non-existent on the football and basketball jerseys, even in my day. I think the interlocking ND is fine - but a nice logo for the hockey jerseys would be better. Obviously wordmarks or letters are best on the basketball, baseball, and football jerseys.
-
"Marketing and Merchandishing," eh? Q) What logo appeared on the t-shirts and hats handed out to the players immediately after the game? A) The Duke "D," not the Blue Devil.

If David Quinn leads BU to a national title in only his second season at the helm, does he move to the top of gfhockey's wish list of Hak replacements despite him not knowing who Quinn was 45 minutes ago? Simple question.

LOL! Non-matching green nameplate, drop-shadow font...what's not to like? -
BTW, Blackheart, due to the influx of kids from western Dickinson into the district, there is growing talk that the South Heart Eagles may be making a comeback. Voters in SH recently voted down a new combined school with Belfield located halfway between the two towns. Belfield is now looking west of town on old Highway 10 as a potential new site for a school and football field. The Bantams may be alive again!

Munich Magicians and the Starkweather Storm Kings, yes. I believe they're still the Munich-Starkweather Magic Storm now.

I'm sure you're fully aware that this is Quinn's second season at BU. You probably also know he spent 6 years as an assistant in Omaha. If you honestly had no clue that Jack Parker retired two years ago, may I suggest turning in your %gobc membership card and stop pretending to be some kind of coaching-search expert should Hak get canned after this season?
-
McVille had a cool nickname too I thought... Always liked the Grenora Gophers, Richardton Rebels, and Crosby-Divide County Maroons too. Oh, and the Sargent Central Cadets.

2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
MafiaMan replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Basketball
Back in 93 or 94, Laettner got a ticket for doing over 100 miles an hour in his car in Ramsey County MN. Sent a high-priced attorney to court who convinced a judge to somehow go along with waiving what should have been a mandatory court appearance by the actual defendant, and got a starry-eyed prosecutor to drop that down below 100 so little Christian wouldn't lose his driver's license for a few months. An absolute first-class I'm entitled smug Dukie prick.
