Since the team isn't going anywhere, it's a no-brainer to have him play right away. This carrot gets dangled all the time in front of players trying to get them to sign early.

Tampa Bay defeated Calgary in 7 games in 2004 and Carolina took out Edmonton in 7 as well in 2006. Then there was the Vancouver meltdown in game 7 at home against Boston a few years ago. Canada's been close, eh?

St Cloud State and UMD were both eliminated AFTER last weekend's show. I expected more than three seconds of time (literally, not figuratively, either) spent talking about last weekend's regional games. I never said anything about heaping praise on UND - some discussion on last weekend's regional - SCSU's performance in particular - would have surely been expected, no?

I expected 5 or 10 minutes worth of conversation on it. One of the rubes picked Denver to win the Frozen Four and another one picked the "Fighting Hawks," which was quickly met with the reply, "WHO?" Later in the segment, the NHL playoffs were discussed and the joke was that Dave Hakstol would get the Flyers to the final four and then lose, as if Philadelphia was the Stanley Cup favorite headed into the season.

Just enough time to remind us that MN, SCSU, and UMD have all been eliminated so there is no reason to talk college pucks today. Brad Berry was on earlier this season and I can't remember which one of the three studio guys it was, but he spent the whole segment literally asking questions about "Fighting Hawks" and being rather snarky about it.
