He's not?? Isn't he the President of the NCAA meaning the buck stops at his desk. The rules state for something like name changing has to go through presidents of ALL NCAA schools not a committee and that dumbass knew that. He was just shocked that a school like Florida State would complain about it and threaten a lawsuit, or else how come Notre Dame wasn't on the list, or San Diego State. I do wish he would rot in hell i have ZERO respect for him and could care less if he dies or not. If you don't like my opinion then skip over my posts.

Of course the council is going to not put the name up for a vote they know they would lose and the name would be approved by the people. Hopefully Fool Bear will get enough signatures so they can vote on the name, then get RHHIT the hell out of there and kick him off the rez. He is a disgrace to Sioux people everywhere. Don't they see that this tribal system only does what is in the best interest of them and not the tribe. People on the rez wake up and vote these people out.

I wish. Myles Brand is responsible for a lot of schools spending money to change their name because of a dumbass list he (not the NCAA) but him without the other schools in the NCAA having a say in it. So rot in hell Myles Brand i do not feel any remorse for you.

This would be an early Christmas gift for all if this stays true. What they need to do is get everything done including the contract agreement by Oct. 1st. If something can be signed and legalized in Sept or even late this month the school board and Kelly would have to do what the tribe wants even though it sounds like they want this issue to go away.

Maybe they are waiting for the new nickname to logo-ize the Alerus. Why spend a lot of money when the Sioux nickname could be gone in 53 days.

I think if Murphy wins and the UND nickname will gain approval with the Standing Rock (our ally is Archie Fool Bear, since he says they already approve the name back in a ceremony in the 60's) i think the board and Kelly will have no choice but to honor what the native americans on both tribes want, plus imagine the outcry on and off campus...Kelly would be jeapordizing his job by ignoring everyone and change the name including alumni$$$$$$. I think so far this is good news about Murphy, and now its just a wait and see game. September may be the month that saves or sinks the nickname.

But see when the UND nickname is gone healthcare will greatly improve and the conditions of the reservations will be great. Its because the Sioux nickname is to blame for them not getting good healthcare. I would like to ask Ronnie when UND changed their name and you can't protest our college anymore what is life going to be like on the Rez since protesting the nickname is everything to him.

I wear the Sioux logo as long as i can, and when the new logo comes out i will wear that too maybe a Sioux shirt and a new logo cap. Heck i still wear my Winnipeg Jets jersey, my old Sioux logo hockey jersey, and i still have my Grand Forks Central Redskins jacket.

With the enonomy in bad shape instead of a new Nickel trophy its now the Penny Trophy.

I wonder if the NCAA would get rid of the FCS and just have D1 football like basketball? Since congress was talking about a FBC playoff system and eliminating the BS i mean the BCS.

Maybe with the state's billion dollar surplus they could chip in.

So who is going to win the first D1 title (not hockey) UND or NDSU??? In any sport. I would think UND with swimming and diving should have an edge we know its not basketball for either team...football maybe.

That cost will most likely go into UND's budget under screwed lawsuit.

The NCAA said that the REA does NOT have to remove ALL logos, just some easy ones that aren't going to break the bank of UND like the one in the granite floor will NOT be removed i just think its the seats and the words and logos outside, but its still going to cost a lot of money and take some time too, i don't think the NCAA has a timetable to remove these logos so maybe UND can drag their feet as long as possible to remove these.

Maybe we should leave the Big 10 to NDSU and explore the Big 12 with Texas Tech this season maybe we could get Nebraska, Colorado, or Kansas.

Here is what i see happening: Standing Rock votes by 75% to keep the Sioux name so we have both tribes voting to keep the name however both tribal councils dismiss the voting and UND loses its name. I think this is going to be a reality if they even allow the SR to vote which is in July. Ron Thunder ain't going to allow this to happen. So i think we do this; drop the name and stay UND with no nickname then pick a name by 2012 when UND is playoff eligible. So that gives us a little over 2 years to get a new name. That way its a new UND going into D1 with a whole new image. Remember we are 1 we are NORTH DAKOTA!!!

As sad as i would be to see the name go i think it would be best if we changed it. I can live with just UND for now and a nickname later. I think the Summitt is making this choice for UND instead of the legal process. We have until Nov. 30, 2010 according to the agreement, then UND set their own timetable to study this and try to get tribal support now the Summitt is setting a timetable for UND to drop the name or get tribal support now. Why doesn't President Kelly come out and hold a press conference to relay the actual timetable to everyone including the Summit. So what does this do to all the Indians that voted for the Sioux nickname on the Spirit Lake and all the potential Sioux supporters on the Standing Rock who may not even get a chance to vote. I feel bad for the Spirit Lake Supporters who showed the PC crowd that they support the name. Oh wait if the name goes we don't have the Indians to worry about anymore. Lets see them blame their poverty, racism, and joblessness on something other than the Sioux nickname.

I could see the tribal council ignoring the vote of the people and not approving the name. But are they willing to risk re-election to do so..thats the #1 question.

Better prepare him good for the Texas Tech game...if he has a decent game against them maybe a couple TD's and hopefully under 2 INT's and a lot of yards this year could be good to him.
