I think record has more to do with attendance than hunting. I think attendance in 2001 and 2003 and throughout the Lennon era produced good numbers in November compared to our DI attendance numbers. If UND were 7-2 (if we were to beat ISU and WSU) instead of 5-4 this wouldn't be an issue. If the REA had afternoon hockey and football at night the Ralph would be sold out.

I'll guess 7000. It would be more if our record was better. But an upward trend on attendance is a very big plus and has been missing for almost a decade.

I know some people question that if I bring up the Fire Jones thread or if I talk about NDSU, but I want to reassure my loyalty to UND is always there even if my posts don't think that way.

Just so it's clear and I can't speak for others on the other side of Jones still being the coach, we all wish for success of this team. I would never and have never once cheered against UND in any sports. If Jones' team pulls a worst to first hey I would pat him on the back and say congrats, I hope that Eurpoean trip combined with another year for the non freshman matured the team enough to compete not only in conference play but against Wisconsin, UNI and NDSU. Upset wins against any of those 3 would be awesome. I still don't understand how neither South Dakota teams are on the schedule, we had a good stretch playing the Jacks and we still haven't played the Yotes since the GWC days. So good luck to Coach Jones and this year's UND Fighting Hawks or Roughriders.

I care about publicity of this state, and all i see on tv, or read about is NDSU NDSU NDSU. UND football is starting to get mentioned with the job Bubba is doing, but Jones is not on everyone's lips.

So you think we are going to go all season without mentioning NDSU? Where the hell have you been. Our in-state rival is the talk of the state from its multiple trips to the dance, their OT win against Big 12 Oklahoma, and another conference title but with a first year head coach. Jones won 8 games last year with a highlighted win over Idaho and lost the last 9 games of the season. I'm sorry I brought up NDSU but thats all you hear about when basketball season starts and Faison better think of a way to end that.

look at his overall record, tournament wins, road OOC record he would be gone at most schools. How can a school 70 miles to the south get a new coach and win an NCAA tournament game, while we ooh and ahh about the CIT which we have zero wins. Jones does not have a good track record dating back to his NCC days. The CIT was good for the GWC but not in the Big Sky.

I hope those kids took a lot out of that Europe trip, especially the wins and cash in on the road games that has plagued this program under Jones. If we can win those games winning at home becomes a little easier especially if the BESC is rocking.

I agree too if they have talent play em, there is no rule that says you have to redshirt a player, but i hope it's not an excuse if we have another crappy year just to get more years of coaching. This has to be Jones' make or break year.

Someone who will put UND basketball on the map, or at least in ND. NDSU is "the" talk about men's basketball after beating teams in March Madness while UND is the talk at the Jones' house. UND needs quality wins, a conference title and an appearance in March Madness instead of dating the CIT.

I have yet to see post after post about UND's XC or tennis team. I doubt many people here follow them.

I meant head coaches smart guy. It was Hakstol and now it's Jones. I would say his seat is extremely hot.

I hope so, we can't afford to have another disaster like last year. Recruiting would take a hit like football if we go down that lonesome road.

Has has the longest tenure as a UND coach and time is ticking especially if we end up at the bottom tier of the BSC. After the results in the Europe games I think this team can do better and at least reach the conference playoffs. No playoffs no job next year.

I am glad that after 3 years of having no nickname and having the media especially during the play by play of a game mentioning having no nickname, it will finally be over. We will be the UND Fighting Hawks or the UND Roughriders. This begins a new chapter in our rich history that extends over 100 years. From the Flickertails to the Fighting Sioux to the XXXX (whatever this vote will determine). UND can have a new logo, new uniforms, new chants, new mascot (unless the bleacher creature is still lurking around). But when we sit in the stands, sit in our favorite chair, or sit in our cars watching/listening to the game we will still cheer for the University of North Dakota as we have before, but maybe this will unite our fanbase which hasn't been done since this whole nickname issue started back in 2005, and we can make this university and its fan base the strongest in the state. I am very proud wearing gear that says University of North Dakota and if it has a Hawk or a Roughrider, a Sioux or nothing at all the words University of North Dakota is powerful enough.
