Howard and Bucknell (DI schools) use Bison as their nickname, and yet NDSU whose school (born about 30-50 years after the other two) came up with a logo different than Howard (whose is close to the Buffalo Bills) and Bucknell (whose is close to Manitoba). I am sure UND can come up with a logo that is not the same as the other 28 and in time will be a recognizable logo.

A school in GF dropped a NA nickname in 1991 to a new name in 1994. A university in GF dropped a NA nickname in 2012 to a new name in 2015. Why is this apples to oranges?

They did that on purpose. Our colors are not Red. If they think they were they must have been colorblind for the last 30+ years of hockey competition.

I know there are some at Marquette and Dartmouth that don't like their nickname change but they are in the big minority, UND fans that boo at hockey games will be drowned out by cheers of Go Hawks. It will just take a little time.

The Fighting Sioux logo was never on UND football helmets. The university is not going to spent a huge amount of money on a logo and not use it. If everyone needs an example of replacing a long standing nickname look at Grand Forks Central. How the Knights name and logo are on gear, and uniforms. Kinda hard to find a Redskins in the crowd.

I know, it will stop when people realize the name is going nowhere and it starts to take off when more and more people are sporting Fighting Hawks gear complete with a new logo.

How long is that going to last? And when new players say they hate the booing, will it stop? Or will this booing continue into the 22nd century? I think its childish and shows bad taste, especially if there is no booing at the Alerus and Betty.

Vandalism and/or stealing ones property is wrong no matter what school it represents.

At least the Sioux logos will stay, Ralph made sure of that.

11k sounds better for print. Those 1k booing will decrease. Not saying Fighting Hawks could land Looker out of a job if the new president doesn't like that omission. Don't people realize changes that could happen to the REA when UND gains control of the building? If you see a Hawk next to a Sioux logo, reality will really set in.

I think people should buy Sioux gear or wear Sioux gear to preserve the history of the school, but at the same time someone should be able to attend a game, wearing FH gear, chant go FH, without boos from the crowd (ex hockey games), dirty looks or comments, or feel the stares from the anti FH crowd. The fanbase is divided on a name that is now part of the university, it's sad.

People may buy more Hawks gear once a logo is chosen. It will take a while before Hawks gear starts to replace the Fighting Sioux. Within 5 years it will probably be 50-50.

Bolomboy is still there? Damn. He is the guy to try and get him off his game. Big task especially on the road, if Jones needs a step to save the season and his job knocking off Weber at their place is the way to do it.

NC or a chance to beat the Gophers which UND is 0-20 against? I pick the NC over one game, especially in a sport where we can win a NC unlike the FBS.

I agree. Is it the glory of going to an unknown bowl game vs a 5 win team? Talk about watering down if that is the excuse to move out of the FCS. Until there is a legit playoff for G5 conferences the FCS is the place to be.
