Higher attendance is due to their basketball success. Getting to and winning in the dance is a hell of a lot more sexy than a loss in the opening round of the CIT to a DI transfer team. Beating ranked teams during the season and getting mentioned on ESPN is more sexy than losing to teams with losing records. They are way more successful in basketball than we have been, we are average, our record doesn't hardly move above .500 while they have consecutive 20 win seasons. Maybe UND needs a resume like this to attract DI teams, in the meantime I guess Mayville is a better fit for our team.

You justify having lower level teams cause it's a cost saver, I am just saying no one likes it just like football, where you have higher level teams scheduling lower level teams it's the same thing. Last year we had 2 DI home games, this year we have one (I doubt we get another). To compare our close neighbors to the south had 3 last year and has 3 this year (their schedule is still being worked on), so I guess they have the money for these games but UND has none.

It just gets old to have 1 or 2 DI teams at home a year. No one cares about non DI schools. Look how that's looked upon in football. St. Cloud is cheap and so is Crookston but Bubba wants nothing to do with them. By getting this NDSU deal done we have a guarantee DI team at home. We need more of those.

Yes we would but this way we could have 3 OOC DI teams come to the Betty every year, instead of hosting the usual Mayville, Presentation type teams.

Is this UND's first trip to the northeast? I don't recall them playing out there for football since playing Indiana, PA.

I am sure there will be some big merchandising event at UND games to get the bird circulated among fans. Wait until the Potato Bowl on Sept 17 and the Fighting Hawk booths will be everywhere at the Alerus both inside and outside. I will be getting some Hawks gear to go along with the Fighting Sioux gear I have had since the 80's. No matter the name I will always support the University of North Dakota.

Marino played on a team that had no running game until he retired. Shula knew how to get Marino weapons to throw to and people that could block for him. You don't win 347 games and not know how to pick a QB. Shula won with the running game, and passing game. He even took a team to the SB with two quarterbacks and no running game. Saying Shula wasn't a QB guru is not true.

He knew nothing about QB's with Marino, Griese, and Morrall under his wing.

Dan Marino had a HOF coach to help him develop, if you get a crappy coach even the best college QB won't survive at the next level.

It's funny that NDSU can't get over what happened over a decade ago but yet they mended fences with USD who also refused to schedule them while they stayed in D2, and guess what NDSU played a road game against them. We stopped playing SDSU in all sports while we were in D2 and guess what they scheduled a home and home against us once we moved up. No hard feelings from the folks in Brookings they aren't scared to come to Grand Forks for a game. I guess the Bison don't want to go 0-3 in the Alerus.

True. We do have a week schedule, which Bubba hashs out in the #LeaveNoDoubt talk. There shouldn't be any doubt we can't make a run not only for the playoffs but for the conference title. Being in the polls is a good start, it means we have done something positive to get there.

Got my tickets for the Potato Bowl game. A lot of seats were gone when I was on the Ticketmaster site, looks to be a great crowd especially if we enter the game at 2-0.
