POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?

This isn't FBS, there are no points for beating a team by more or less. If you are going to join in at least come with some accurate comments. -

I see that you all have taken the Joseph Goebbels approach to this topic. Fine, carry on. -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?

As I said, they had an easy out. If they felt it deserved suspension they could have sat them for the Robert Morris game and the heat would have been off and they would have still won the game. This logic leads me to believe that the powers that be didn't feel their actions deserved a suspension at all for who knows what reason. Given Coach Bohl's track record with suspension, and don't kid yourself he has always been quick to punish when warranted, I tend to lean in the direction that they don't need to be suspended further. -

This butt...(fill in the blank) is really getting old from both sides. It is one of the worst internet memes I have seen and there have been some awful ones. Did the players deserve a suspension? Probably. Were they not suspended because NDSU wanted to win a football game, not a chance. As everyone knows they could have won that football game with the practice squad. -

Your comments on this continue to be outrageous. You make NDSU out to be SMU or Miami, calm the hell down. Typical revisionist history. If NDSU felt the players involved in the petition fraud situation deserved a suspension, they could have done so EASILY without affecting the outcome of any significant games. Remember, they knew about this before the season began and could have sat every single starter on the team and still beat Robert Morris by 3 scores. To continue to say they weren't suspended so they wouldn't jeopardize their season just makes you sounds jealous, you should really stop. -
Haha, you guys are hilarious. Its like watching a person with multiple personalities have a fight between two of them. Someone brings up NDSU and I respond and then you guys get pissed. It's unbelievable.

I'll let everyone get on with the coaches thread, but feel the need to set the record straight on what I was saying. Darell is clearly trying to misrepresent what I am saying. Others said Texas Tech would be the best FBS team NDSU would have ever played if they played them in 2009 like UND did. I agree. What I don't agree with is that they are the best FBS team NDSU would have played and it isn't even close. I never said TT and CMU were the same, so don't say that I did. I am just saying it isn't like comparing U of M and Alabama, like some posters on here would like to believe. Also, quit cherry picking stats Darell. You use the 2008 TT team to somehow prop up how good the 2009 team was, knowing full well that team was led by Graham Harell and Michael Crabtree who were in the NFL when UND played them. TT was darn good when UND played them, again, so what? I am having a hard time understanding why UND fans want to brag about playing such a good team when they lost the game.

Getting stuck in these tangent arguments is not the point. The original discussion revolved around UND fans questioning the FBS opponents of NDSU. My point was to say that NDSU and UND schedule FBS opponents in exactly the same way and that Texas Tech isn't exactly an FBS powerhouse. So UND goes in and gets beat by 20, great, so what? Should a fan take pride in playing well? Absolutely. But to rip another teams scheduling practices when you do the exact same thing is what I fail to understand.
-
I said they are a middle of the road PROGRAM, any team can have a few good years. Even the gophers were a bowl team when NDSU played them. Again, UND lost so they could have been coached by Bill Belicheck and won the super bowl that year and I still wouldn't be impressed.
-
I hate to keep pushing the issue when you have said you are done. But, this seems to be an opinion that runs rampant on this board. So this is for everyone. Texas Tech is a below average Big 12 team, actually very similar in the standing every year as Iowa State, an NDSU FBS opponent. So the "shining star" of UND's FBS schedule is not any better than the FBS teams NDSU has played. http://espn.go.com/college-football/conferences/standings/_/id/4/big-12-conference http://espn.go.com/college-football/conferences/standings/_/id/4/year/2011/big-12-conference http://espn.go.com/college-football/conferences/standings/_/id/4/year/2010/big-12-conference

Whose comparing the MAC to the Big 12? I am comparing Central Michigan to Texas Tech. You want to believe that Texas Tech is the class of the Big 12? Go ahead. The rest of us live in reality where Texas Tech is a bottom/middle of the road Big 12 team nearly every year.
-
Oh I see, you think Texas Tech is head and shoulders above the MAC champ. Please.
-
In theory, I agree with you completely. But with playoffs in the FCS the goal has to be to get into them every year, and scheduling is done with this in mind. Using a FBS game as a challenging yet winnable game is a way to build confidence for the team moving into the conference schedule. UNI did the opposite this year and it cost them. They lose FBS games and completely lost confidence and the season spiraled from there.
-
By far? Maybe you forgot that NDSU went to Central Michigan and beat the MAC champs. I'm not sure why people wear it as a badge of honor to go get your face kicked in by a "good" FBS team. Doesn't it make sense to schedule games that are winnable? Seems to me it is a matter of intelligence to schedule games with teams that are in recruiting areas and winnable. Also, Texas Tech is the ONLY FBS program UND has played that would be considered "upper echilon". Outside of that UND schedules FBS games the exact same way NDSU does. So why the trash talk about the way GT does it?
-
Just to clarify, SW Texas Vo-Tech College. Is that the same team that just beat the three best teams in the big sky 3 weeks in a row? Thank you for continuing to prove my original point. Hell I am more of a und football fan than you are. Stay in the hockey threads where they play for a real championship. Leave the rest of us to our second rate football discussions.

Who's bragging? I'm certainly not. Your experience is your experience, nothing for me to say there. But you are making pretty broad brush strokes based on your experience with a select few in NDSU's fanbase. Every fanbase has these types of people, yes even UND. There are many NDSU fans that feel the exact same way you do about these 'extreme' fans and as you know it is very easy to be an unreasonable a-hole when you are anonymous on the internet. NDSU fans are not evil, people can be evil and some of them just happen to be NDSU fans. Your last two sentences will be said from here until the end of eternity about opposing teams fanbases, its a matter of perspective.

Sounds like he underwent an appendectomy yesterday. Some optimistic fans are holding out hope that he can play, but even with the best case scenario, I have to believe there isn't an MD with a license that would clear him for violent collisions 5 days following this procedure. Huge loss, I would venture to say he is the player I would least want to lose for this game.
-
Fair prediction, our defense took a huge hit with the news that Grant Olson likely won't be playing. It would be some feat to win the NC without 3 of NDSU's top 4 defenders. Grant will be missed in a huge way though, this game more than a lot of others NDSU needs it's defensive signal caller. SHSU does a lot of shifting and runs out of a lot of different formations and personel groups, it will hurt a lot not to have the defensive leader.
-
I think it's just a numbers game. There are simply a lot more NDSU fans who like posting on the internet than most fanbases. NDSU has easily the most fans posting on AGS as well.
-
I have made a resolution to keep my conversations here productive, so this is not me talking smack. This attitude that you display towards the FCS championship, is exactly why UND will always struggle to put butts in the seats of the Alerus. Why see a team that isn't playing for a "real" national championship right. Better head over to the Ralph. SMH

Any updated predictions on the championship game this Saturday?

This is the ultimate win for the trolls, don't stop posting because some idiot on the internet takes pleasure in baiting people. Ignore and live to post another day.

I agree with getting a QB every year as well. Trouble is recruits see that you have a guy a year older than him and that can be a determining factor in signing and not signing sometimes. The position is too important not to have guys waiting in the wings.
-
Do you feel it is a "the guy is too good not offer" kind of thing, and that is why they have an offer out. Or will they bring in someone else if he doesn't accept?
-
Having 2 freshman QB's on the roster, does UND sign another one this year, or do they skip a year in recruiting this position?
