Again, are you watching these football games or just spouting random things to make yourself feel better?
  2. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

Fair enough. Pretty large sample size to choose from on those away playoff games.

    FCS Playoffs

Yeah, the level of arrogance that is backed up by sagarin and at least one voter in the AP poll. I am sure you know so much better though. Teach me more about this arrogance thing, you seem to have it pretty much nailed..

Did you watch USC this year? Or are you just picking a team with some cache because they are named USC?
  5. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

No, I am not backtracking. You're right I said I would take them, meaning I would pick them to win. I haven't backed away from that at all. Dave called my post arrogant, implying that to suggest NDSU could beat them is ridiculous. To suggest it is ridiculous that NDSU could beat them implies there is a team that he feels would beat NDSU badly that meets my criteria. So I asked him which team he feels would beat NDSU so badly that he felt my post was arrogant. If you think there is a team that might beat NDSU, but the game would be very close, than it wouldn't be ridiculous for me to pick NDSU in that game now would it? I know it's early, but this isn't complicated logic.

Again, NDSU has a better record away from the Fargodome over the past 2 years. How much of a home field advantage do they really have?
  7. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

I would love to hear the matchup that you challenge my statement on. Which team would beat NDSU?
  8. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

Considering NDSU has a better away record than home record over the past 2 years, I would reconsider this post if I were you.

    FCS Playoffs

Not sure this requires explanation but...ok. For my comment to be considered arrogant, there would have to be a team that meets the criteria(outside of top 30) that would be such an overwhelming favorite over NDSU that it would be ridiculous to pick NDSU to win the game on a neutral field. eg. Alabama. NDSU would be such a decided underdog in this game that it wouldn't be reasonable for anyone to pick them. ie. There would have to be a team that Dave thinks would beat NDSU pretty badly for me not to pick them on a neutral field. So name the team Dave. Who is it that is so much better than NDSU outside the top 30 that you called my comments arrogant?

    FCS Playoffs

Considering NDSU finished the season at number 35 in college football rankings. I would love to hear which team outside of the top 30 you think would beat NDSU so badly.

I had it right the first time, no need to fix it. Billy Turner, Crockett, Marcus Williams and I believe Leevon Perry will get a shot.

    FCS Playoffs

In a single game contest, at a neutral site, I would take NDSU against any FBS team outside of the top 30. For those of you who think I'm crazy I would be happy to listen to your reasoning.

Bama would beat NDSU so bad that it's embarrassing that we are talking about it. There are maybe 3-4 NFL guys on NDSU's whole roster right now, there are 7 or 8 first round draft picks on Bama's roster right now. No match NDSU has very disciplined and prideful players, so did Notre Dame. But, Alabama would beat NDSU at their own game, they would own the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and NDSU wouldn't be able to stop them.

    Gun Control

You would advocate banning assault rifles to what end? Prevention of Aurora or Sandy Hook? Wouldn't have made a bit of difference. People who commit these horrendous crimes are clearly not interested in what is legal. Had assault weapons been banned at the time of these events, the criminal would have obtained a weapon illegally or simply chose another weapon to cause destruction and loss of life. The WHY needs to be addressed, not the HOW.

When you say EWU would score more, are you saying more than SHSU? Sure they had a good passing offense, but they were pretty darn one dimensional, and overall SHSU had the better offense statistically. I just don't see them having much more success offensively than SHSU.

He reminded me a lot of MSU's guy and they didn't seem to have much of a problem with him. A QB breaking out of the pocket and hurting you requires the defense to have an assignment breakdown. eg. ends losing contain or coming to far up field creating lanes. I am not saying NDSU's D is perfect, but they are the most disciplined group I have ever watched and I don't think they would be out of position enough for a quick QB to get loose enough to beat them. I don't think there was a team in FCS this year that could have beat NDSU outside of GSU. Yeah I know, NDSU had a loss to ISU-B, but 9/10 NDSU beats them. Even though the Wofford game was close, I never had the sense that they were an equal opponent. EWU was good, no doubt about it, but I think we are looking at a similar outcome in Frisco if they made it down there.

More than Bell, Sincere and Flanders? Kaufman was a beast, but I don't think NDSU's D would have given their QB much time to get passes off. And their D sure as heck wouldn't have been able to stop NDSU's running game. I was hoping for EWU actually, would have healed a lot of those 2010 wounds for a lot of folks in Fargo.

    FCS Playoffs

I think NDSU played the team that had the best shot at beating them. GSU. SHSU had a more potent offense than EWU and we all saw what happened. http://www.sportsnet...am-totaloff.htm

Your lack of understanding of this subject continues to amaze me every time you post. Stick to the hockey threads. Gonzaga, Butler, Bradley, Creighton, Seton Hall, Xavier, Georgetown, Northern Iowa. All schools with basketball tradition that exceeds 90% of FBS schools. I'm sure they have a major case of little man's syndrome. Get a new line Dave.

Seems odd to have a D-III, but not a D-II. Anyway, you can disagree with the FCS designation and call for a change if you really don't like it, but I-AAA/I-AA/I-A caused much more confusion for the general public than FCS does.
  21. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

Yeah I'm sure it's hard for you to follow how adding the word football to the name wouldn't change the BASKETBALL recruiting technique I outlined. smh.
  22. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

Listen, I'm not working off conjecture here, this IS what happened. The reason FCS was implemented is because it actually has the word football in the title, meaning it is a football only designation, not an institutional designation. Student athletes aren't stupid? Have you seen some of the interviews on ESPN? There are exceptions no doubt, but some of these guys wouldn't be in college if not for sports and will listen when people say things, even if they are half truths. UNI is a great example of this, go over to panthernation and ask them what it was like for kids to look at them as second rate on the recruiting trail against Iowa and Iowa State. UNI is a better basketball program than both of those schools, why should they be at a disadvantage even if it is miniscule?
  23. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

What I find most ironic about the turn this discussion has taken, is that it seems to be the UND hockey crowd that is the most vocal here. I doubt it would have much of an impact on UND's hockey due to tradition and UND's recruiting area, but this recruiting advantage that I-A schools had over I-AA schools in basketball, would have been used against UND hockey on the recruiting trail. You can bet on that. You don't think Notre Dame or Michigan or Michigan State would have been calling UND a I-AA school when they are sitting on the recruits couch? You're delusional. Might want to think twice about asking for the I-AA label back, because UND would be a I-AA institution, not an institution with a I-AA football team. That's why it was changed.
  24. Bison06

    FCS Playoffs

What opponents of the FCS label fail to understand is the WHY behind the name change. They are un-educated on the topic so they turn to arguments like inferiority complex to make thier point. The name change wasn't made for football, the name change was made for other sports. I-A/I-AA/I-AAA were institutional designations, not football designations. This lead to I-A teams taking advantage of I-AA and I-AAA schools on the recruiting trail by suggesting or flat out saying they were a lesser institution to play sports for. eg. Purdue could say don't go play for Gonzaga, they are a I-AAA school. We have been through this before so I don't feel the need to re-hash, but if anyone has a problem with the FCS name, your basketball coach certainly doesn't.
  25. Agree, it will never go away.
