I know plenty a pressperson who has had their career ended early by a bad case of turf toe. Hopefully, Pat got it checked out early and took all the steps to ensure this injury does not hinder his future performance. I think we all would be willing to go a week or two without Pat, as tough as it may be, in order to keep him in the long run. He's one of those guys you just can't replace. He brings a level of leadership into the press box that the younger guys feed off. If he went down, I'd imagine some of the bigger guys would be right in there sticking up for Pat and showing the other press people who is boss.

I think he was trying to say "What NFL receiver wouldn't want those numbers." They look pretty good for a college kid...and I'm sure many NFL receivers would take those numbers everyday and six times on sunday.

Last year it was Jake Porter, now is Trevor. It's these types of stories that makes people continue to believe in sports. With all of the drug scandals/taunting/fighting...it's good to know that there are people out there who put people's feelings ahead of winning. Great story, thanks for posting it.

This story is about 3 of my friends and me, who decided to drive to the NC game in Alabama. We are all students, 3 of us had finals today, so we all had to be back last night so we could study. We left Grand Forks friday morning at 10 a.m. There were 2 guys and 2 girls on the trip. One of the girls wasn't that excited, so we ended up dropping her off at a friends house in the Cities. The 3 of us then drove on through Madison and then south through Illinois. May I suggest that nobody ever drive through Illinois. It is by far the worst state ever and completely worthless. We arrived in St. Louis Saturday morning at 2 a.m. and were too tired to keep driving, so we stopped a little crap hotel just south of StL. The guy at the front desk gave us the remote for our TV in our room and they had a sign specifically posted on the wall that said No More Than 2 People Per Bed. Since there were 3 of us, we asked for a room with 2 beds. The man obliged and we went to find our room. Once there, we noticed there was only 1 bed, a king sized. Rather than going through the hassle of changing it, we just all slept in the king sized bed, which was about as hard as the concrete outside. We got to sleep at about 2:30 and after checking our map, knew we had to be on the road at 6. We had no clock, so we had to use our cell phones as alarms. Fortunately, we received 4 phone calls that night. One every hour from 2 until 6, which we all woke up for. Lets just say we didn't get much sleep. We eventually got on the road at about 6:15. It snowed during the night, a little over an inch. We get out on the road and there are cars in ditches everywhere. You would think there was 20 inches on the ground with the amount of people who got in accidents. Everyone else drives 40 on the interstate, while we're just crusing along at 70, having no problems on the "snow." After about half an hour of driving, my car starts to make some noise. There's a little ticking coming from the engine. So we take the first exit we can find, which was about 10 miles down the road. We pull over in Bloomsdale, Missouri and go to the local body shop. (There is a reason you have never heard of Bloomsdale. It is one of the smallest towns ever). In Bloomsdale, Gary the mechanic takes a look at the car, throws some oil in it and we start the car. The ticking continued and Gary says the car cannot be driven any further or else it will cease up. So now we have 3 college students with $200 total and we are stuck in Bloomsdale, MO, 51 miles south of St. Louis. We walked to a gas station to see if we could use their phone book to make some calls. They oblige, however the phone book has no listings for St. Louis. So we spend the next 4 hours in a gas station calling 411 and as many rental car places as possible. All the time, we are in roaming with our phones, racking up a huge bill. Eventually, we resort to just asking random people who come into the gas station if they can give us a ride to St. Louis. This extremely nice couple (John and Pam) say they can give us a ride. We get all of our stuff out of my car and load it into their SUV. They drive us to St. Louis and take us to a rental car company. They tell us we need to be 25 to rent a car. We're all 21, so that doesn't happen. Then John and Pam offer to rent the car for us with their credit card, so we can get to the Cities. After declining their generosity, we finally had to accept it, since it was the only way we were getting home. They rented the car for us and we unfortunately parted ways. It was about 2:00 when we left St. Louis and we were going to miss the game obviously, so we start to head home. We drove from 2:00 until about 11:00 pm where we stopped in Minneapolis at a friend's house. We picked up the girl who we had dropped off on the way down to the cities. The next morning (Sunday) we had to return the rental car and figure out a way to get from Minneapolis to Grand Forks. One of the girls' brothers lived in the cities and was able to drive us to Fergus Falls, MN (1 hour east of Fargo, it is where I am from). Then my mom gave us a ride to Fargo, where we were able to borrow a car and drive to Grand Forks. We spent 16 hours driving Friday, a total of 11 hours on Saturday and then 6 hours on Sunday and we never got to see the game, or even listen to it on the radio. My car is sitll in Bloomsdale, Missouri and we are going to be driving down to tow it back up to Fergus Falls sometime this week. Throughout the whole thing, we were able to keep happy and if it were not for John and Pam and their amazing generosity, none of us would be back in GF today.

Press conference tomorrow at 11 at the Police station. I don't know if the public is invited, but it will be aired live on WDAZ and i believe KVLY. Tonight, the police said they were not going to release any more information until tomorrow, out of respect for the family. That could be taken two ways and I really hope Dru is still ok. Our prayers go out to her and her family and I hope there is more good news tomorrow.

If she's cute, you'll have to introduce us

It may just be me...but it might be a little more useful to actually post your reply in the topic that discusses it, rather than making a new one.

Mapletoft wallpaper anyone?
-
So you're saying you're anti-Mapletoft? I think it's time for a lynching

Thanks for your comments. A majority of Native Americans (specifically Sioux) actually enjoy the logo and feel it honors them, however there are a few (mainly caucasian) who feel that it is disrespectful. I only know one Native American who doesn't believe the Sioux logo/name is appropriate and I know 5 who think it is.

Did they have football back in the 1600s?

Lundbohm is playing for HC Sierre. I believe it is a German league, I haven't been able to figure out how he is doing, because none of the sites I visit are in english. I was able to kinda translate one post by a fan that said Lundbohm was a huge addition to the team and that some other guy was not as good as Brian.

Since nobody can agree on what should be done...how about we all just imagine what it would be like with 1/3 of the lower bowl all students who are standing. How much amazing fun would that be? This would become the hardest place to play in college hockey...and you would still have the entire arena sold out, because there is still a pretty good demand for tickets.
-
I hope it was because they watched some video of BC and not because that is how they normally play. The only thing that impressed me this weekend about Potulny, was that he should have gone to UND...not for hockey, but for diving. Perhaps the crappie sign was appropriate, as Grant was flopping around like one all weekend.

I thought it went 5-hole too. There was just a tiny opening (puck sized) about knee high and it snuck in there.
-
Zach dove into the net to get the puck for Matt.
-
Just the thought of that makes me giddy with joy 100 goals, 200 points this year, 150/250 next? I don't think I could handle that much excitement.

I think a lot of you are looking at it the wrong way. I think many people have the same mentality as they did last year, so they think that Blais doesn't trust Brandt, but I don't think that is the case at all. Obviously, Blais sees something very special in JPar as well as Brandt. Personally, I would prefer a two-goalie system (ala MN Wild) so that way if one doesn't play well, we have the other guy right there, who has a lot of exp in net this year. If Brandt has a bad game, I don't want Blais to have to rely on a goalie who has only played a couple NC games early on. Brandt has played outstanding, JPar has the ability to be as good as Brandt is now and Blais sees that. Just because you don't agree with Brandt not starting every game, doesn't mean that Blais is making a wrong decision.

Central Scouting released its 2003-2004 players to watch list... Zajac is one of only 3 players to make the A list from the BCHL.
-
There also is the possibility of Murray being gone for those games with either Canada or the USA.
-
Porter was very impressive Friday night and if he keeps it up, he will be the biggest surprise. Considering Murray and Stafford are on 1st and 2nd lines respectively they are almost expected to perform well, however if Porter gets some ice time, he will impress very much.

May i suggest that the Gophers focus on not making the turnovers. Getting stupid penalties against UND hasn't hurt anybody yet. So far all it does is tire out the PK unit for the other team, leading to some pretty good 5v5 action by the Sioux.

It's nice to see UMD doing so well. I have no problem with them winning every game for the rest of the season...except they are obviously going to lose to UND.
