  1. I just get the feeling that Kupchella's letter didn't go over to well and so RT wrote his to try and appeal to the students. It seems too much like "There's a problem, go fix it, or else." There doesn't seem to be any attempt by UND or The Ralph to actually help in the process of "fixing it." Sure RT said in the letter that its not directed 100% at students. Sure its not, but I'd say about 90% of it is, which still puts us in a position of the students vs the man. The past couple years, the students have been placed in a position where the administration uses its power to remove students from the game unless they conform. Chances are if the Admin and REA pursue this one too, we will soon have a completely social club for casual Sioux fans to go and chat. I'm definitely looking forward to that
  2. Wow...its horrible seeing all these Sioux fans criticizing the team. You might as well just start booing at hockey games. As someone posted in another thread, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE TEAM HAS GIVEN UP 5 GOALS IN A GAME THIS SEASON. Last time I checked, its Frebruary, and thats a pretty long time to hold that streak. You fans who sit there and say "oh, this is just like last year, the team is going downhill, our goaltending sucks, we cant win" Did anyone notice how the goalies have played, minus this series? One series does not mean the goalies are completely worthless. Anybody remember the MN series, where our goalies kept us in the games? When everyone was all "our goalies are so great, everyone thought it would be bad, but they've proven they are good." Then they happen to give up 9 goals in a weekend and everyone thinks they are the achiles heel of the team. I'm sure its always nice for the Sioux players to come on the message board and see 10+ topics about how this is just like last year and oh no, not again. Get behind your Sioux and cheer on how well they played this weekend for the most part. Don't forget everything that has happened this season and then just chalk it up to just like last year because they got swept. I'm embarassed by how quickly many of you jump off the bandwagon and start to criticze.
  3. Keith's funeral was perfect today. Some amazing songs, Hoeven gave the Eulogy and it was just awesome to see people who never knew Keith coming and showing their support. Keith was a huge Toby Keith fan, and for the final song they played American Soldier. Nearly every person in the gym started crying, i can't describe it any better than saying it was exaclty what Keith deserved.
  4. Keith's funeral will be held next Tuesday in Makoti. There will be a service at North Shore HS. A friend and I are heading out to Makoti today to be with Keith's younger brother robby, who was also serving in iraq. Keith was such a great guy and this week has brought back so many memories. God bless you keith, we will always love you.
  5. The other person killed, Keith Smette was one of my friends and was my best friend's older brother. I am extremely proud of him and everything he has done, he was a great guy and died doing something he loved.
  6. Mike Cummings, the author is a UND student...who lives in Grand Forks and writes articles about UND for the forum.
  7. Not sure where I should post this, so I'm putting it here. PCM, i was in at work last night and got a chance to read the feature article about the WCHA officiating. Good story, however I can see why USCHO wouldn't publish it. It was very well written.
  8. SCOOOORE!! Zach with his 2nd of the game, assist to Murray and maybe Big Ticket
  9. Guys, i just had a great idea...lets get 2-3 people put on full hockey gear and go to the WCHA head offices on Monday. Go up to greg shepherds office and just start climbing all over his back for the entire day. When he complains, just tell him that this is what Zpar goes through every game and that he should stop whining.
  10. Seems like those 3 need to start posting more if they want to keep up with the lead.
  11. 35 goals in 16 games together (Bo has played 20 and scored 3 during those 4 games). That is 2 goals a game when they are all playing (whether together or not) and 1.75 GPG overall. With 15 regular season games, they would finish with 65 goals, if they continue the 2 GPG streak. Then we can say 2 home playoff games, plus 2 in the Final Five, then just guessing 4 games in the NCAA tourney. That means 8 games, so 16 more goals, which leaves them with 81. They may not get 100 goals, but how many lines average 2 GPG through-out the season? That is still a pretty good line..and considering that two other lines are averaging about 1 GPG, that creates some great depth and a very high scoring team. Think if the PP gets going all-out, this team could be more devastating than it already is.

    Old arena

Anyone know if the Old ralph is still functioning? Just think if the Sioux had an exhibition game there in the near future. Just for the fans...no corporate tickets sold. 1/2 the arena to students the other half goes to season ticket holders from the old ralph and those who would be lucky enough to get the last remaining tickets. That game would be crazy fun
  13. With the powerplay clicking for at least one night (4 of 7), Brandon Bochenski is now the WCHA leader in powerplay goals with 6 in 11 games. Just think if the PP clicks in, how unstoppable this team will be. They averaged 5+ goals a game with a 0.9% PP going into last night. Teams won't be able to hold as much, because they would risk getting a penalty and having goals scored on them. Right now, that has been something they can do without too much damage. Edit: We are ranked 4th in the WCHA on the PP with 19.4%

  15. I know plenty a pressperson who has had their career ended early by a bad case of turf toe. Hopefully, Pat got it checked out early and took all the steps to ensure this injury does not hinder his future performance. I think we all would be willing to go a week or two without Pat, as tough as it may be, in order to keep him in the long run. He's one of those guys you just can't replace. He brings a level of leadership into the press box that the younger guys feed off. If he went down, I'd imagine some of the bigger guys would be right in there sticking up for Pat and showing the other press people who is boss.
  16. I think he was trying to say "What NFL receiver wouldn't want those numbers." They look pretty good for a college kid...and I'm sure many NFL receivers would take those numbers everyday and six times on sunday.
  17. Last year it was Jake Porter, now is Trevor. It's these types of stories that makes people continue to believe in sports. With all of the drug scandals/taunting/fighting...it's good to know that there are people out there who put people's feelings ahead of winning. Great story, thanks for posting it.
  18. This story is about 3 of my friends and me, who decided to drive to the NC game in Alabama. We are all students, 3 of us had finals today, so we all had to be back last night so we could study. We left Grand Forks friday morning at 10 a.m. There were 2 guys and 2 girls on the trip. One of the girls wasn't that excited, so we ended up dropping her off at a friends house in the Cities. The 3 of us then drove on through Madison and then south through Illinois. May I suggest that nobody ever drive through Illinois. It is by far the worst state ever and completely worthless. We arrived in St. Louis Saturday morning at 2 a.m. and were too tired to keep driving, so we stopped a little crap hotel just south of StL. The guy at the front desk gave us the remote for our TV in our room and they had a sign specifically posted on the wall that said No More Than 2 People Per Bed. Since there were 3 of us, we asked for a room with 2 beds. The man obliged and we went to find our room. Once there, we noticed there was only 1 bed, a king sized. Rather than going through the hassle of changing it, we just all slept in the king sized bed, which was about as hard as the concrete outside. We got to sleep at about 2:30 and after checking our map, knew we had to be on the road at 6. We had no clock, so we had to use our cell phones as alarms. Fortunately, we received 4 phone calls that night. One every hour from 2 until 6, which we all woke up for. Lets just say we didn't get much sleep. We eventually got on the road at about 6:15. It snowed during the night, a little over an inch. We get out on the road and there are cars in ditches everywhere. You would think there was 20 inches on the ground with the amount of people who got in accidents. Everyone else drives 40 on the interstate, while we're just crusing along at 70, having no problems on the "snow." After about half an hour of driving, my car starts to make some noise. There's a little ticking coming from the engine. So we take the first exit we can find, which was about 10 miles down the road. We pull over in Bloomsdale, Missouri and go to the local body shop. (There is a reason you have never heard of Bloomsdale. It is one of the smallest towns ever). In Bloomsdale, Gary the mechanic takes a look at the car, throws some oil in it and we start the car. The ticking continued and Gary says the car cannot be driven any further or else it will cease up. So now we have 3 college students with $200 total and we are stuck in Bloomsdale, MO, 51 miles south of St. Louis. We walked to a gas station to see if we could use their phone book to make some calls. They oblige, however the phone book has no listings for St. Louis. So we spend the next 4 hours in a gas station calling 411 and as many rental car places as possible. All the time, we are in roaming with our phones, racking up a huge bill. Eventually, we resort to just asking random people who come into the gas station if they can give us a ride to St. Louis. This extremely nice couple (John and Pam) say they can give us a ride. We get all of our stuff out of my car and load it into their SUV. They drive us to St. Louis and take us to a rental car company. They tell us we need to be 25 to rent a car. We're all 21, so that doesn't happen. Then John and Pam offer to rent the car for us with their credit card, so we can get to the Cities. After declining their generosity, we finally had to accept it, since it was the only way we were getting home. They rented the car for us and we unfortunately parted ways. It was about 2:00 when we left St. Louis and we were going to miss the game obviously, so we start to head home. We drove from 2:00 until about 11:00 pm where we stopped in Minneapolis at a friend's house. We picked up the girl who we had dropped off on the way down to the cities. The next morning (Sunday) we had to return the rental car and figure out a way to get from Minneapolis to Grand Forks. One of the girls' brothers lived in the cities and was able to drive us to Fergus Falls, MN (1 hour east of Fargo, it is where I am from). Then my mom gave us a ride to Fargo, where we were able to borrow a car and drive to Grand Forks. We spent 16 hours driving Friday, a total of 11 hours on Saturday and then 6 hours on Sunday and we never got to see the game, or even listen to it on the radio. My car is sitll in Bloomsdale, Missouri and we are going to be driving down to tow it back up to Fergus Falls sometime this week. Throughout the whole thing, we were able to keep happy and if it were not for John and Pam and their amazing generosity, none of us would be back in GF today.
  19. Press conference tomorrow at 11 at the Police station. I don't know if the public is invited, but it will be aired live on WDAZ and i believe KVLY. Tonight, the police said they were not going to release any more information until tomorrow, out of respect for the family. That could be taken two ways and I really hope Dru is still ok. Our prayers go out to her and her family and I hope there is more good news tomorrow.
  20. If she's cute, you'll have to introduce us

It may just be me...but it might be a little more useful to actually post your reply in the topic that discusses it, rather than making a new one.
  22. Mapletoft wallpaper anyone?
  23. So you're saying you're anti-Mapletoft? I think it's time for a lynching
