I have no clue what to expect tonight? As I've posted before IF UND is to win a game in this series, the eggs all go into tonight's basket.

That is basically the answer I get when BE comes into the conversation when talking to other UND hockey fans...can't stop the puck when it matters.

Your liberal Pollyanna-ism mentaily doesn't fly around here. You ever get the feeling that you are on an island with your views? Protectionist...maybe. As one of the few, and becoming fewer, responsible and accountable persons in society, I'm getting kind of tired of "free" for every one but me. Seems like I, and those like me, wind up paying for everyone else's "free". Seems to me a few people in liberal Mass. feel the same way!

Correct, but in most of those games when we've only given up 2 or 3 goals, we only scored 1 or 2. BE is what he is...solid. Won't steal you a game and will give up a soft one most nights. We just don't produce as many goals as we should with the talent that's out on the ice.

Exactly, and what true "economic benefit" is ND getting from bringing in all these out of state and foreign students. I totally get the need for grad programs and research, but at the tune of $10M of free tuition alone last year at NDSU, I find it hard to believe it's even a wash. Not to mention that all these students we are talking about will not stay in ND to put their education to use.

Appreciate the breakdown, but the point remains that of those getting "Grad Assistant" waivers, a majority of those poeple are foreign as well. The "foreign student" category is just that students. You are coreect in that there was also, I believe, $3M+ in mandated waivers given out last year thru out the state above the $24M we are discussing here.

I call BS on that. You don't think there are American students being passed over for foreign students for the sake of diveristy, multiculturalism, blah, blah, blah?

So with your numbers you've established that SU is giving 42.5% of all tuition waiver/breaks in this state. 2nd you are stating that out of $10M waived at SU, $6.7M goes to Grad assistants and none of those folks are foreign?? SU's foreign student enrollment is up almost 35% this year alone! IF there was a breakdown, the majority of the $10M at SU would be going to aid foreign grad students and/or grad assistants...period.

1st...I don't drink. 2nd...I paid for my undergrad and med school by myself. No waivers. No breaks. Just hard work and personal responsiblilty. And to top it off I'm back in this state working. $24M is a lot of $$ to be giving away...period. So label me as you wish, but there are many more with my sentiments on this issue out there than yours!

That's part of what has killed this team so far this year!

Today's Fargo Fourm is reporting, this past school year, '08-'09, the 11 colleges in ND gave away $24 million in tuition waivers/breaks . To who? Almost exclusively to grad students and students who arrive from outside the state and country...mostly though to foreign students. Of course, NDSU is leading the way in this fiasco, too! The college president's are defending these waivers by saying these students provide "diversity, brainpower and economic benefits"!?!? Really? At the cost of $24 million! If I want diversity, I'll go eat at Juano's downtown. If I want brainpower, I'll watch "Who wants to be a Millionaire". If I want economic benefits, I'll clip coupons from the Sunday Fargo Forum! So for $24M, our colleges are providing grad degrees, for FREE, in Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, then we are sending these individuals back to Pakistan, Iran... And what is this state and this country getting out of this deal? BTW, have a friend who's son didn't go back to SU this semester because he couldn't afford it! Where is his free tuition?

The faculty, employees and students of NDSU, as well as the general taxpaying public (which includes myself) are probably looking for the TRUTH. $1.8 mil shortfall now is at $2.5 mil. Money being shifted from "fund" to "fund" at NDSU. And it makes no sense to you as to why some people want to know the truth about these issues at NDSU?

BTW...Whiskey Joe was a "visionary!" Tell that to the faculty, employees and students at NDSU that are going to have to clean up this accounting oversight!

But come on...41 yrs. old with 37 TDs and 7 INTs! Give him some props...he's making most MIN fans say "AP who?" This is his show from here on out and at 41 myself what he is doing is amazing. (He is a diva but we all knew that years ago.)

Local Fox News in Fargo reported tonight NDSU budget shortfall really at @ $2.5 million! Let's hear from some SU tools how 2+2=3 in this scenerio!

You are correct in the fact we have lots of grinders, but look at how many games we have had the lead in? You just need to have more goals than the other guys at the end of 60 minutes. With that being said we've played 24 games and in only 10 games have we scored 4 or more goals. And only ONCE in the last 10.

As a Packer fan, the Vikings win was bitter sweet. Favre still has it! Wow! AP? This is Favre's gig now! Things worked out well for Favre and the Vikes and frankly Rodgers is who I'm glad is at QB for GB. Potential short term gain vs. potential long tern success? I'll take the later with Rodgers. Exactly. I don't dislike Hak. I just think he has a confusing coaching style. This team is at it's best when it just goes and goes! That's why I've asked..what is our identity/system under Hak? There isn't all this "man love" for Dean as some think, but again you knew what you were going to get consistantly night in and out...a fast skating team that was looking to score regardless if they were up or down 3. At some point you have to mold your system to take advantage of the talent you have. This is not a lock down, defensive bunch. They play good transition D, but not this "trap" garbage. Let 'em fly, Hak!

Bottom line is we need our playmakers, you insert who you think that is/they are, to start making plays. I'm not going single anybody out, but there a couple guys IMO that are underachieving badly and are due! Got to start scoring more that 2-3 goals a game if we are going to turn this around. Plus BE has got to step it up a notch from here on out. Not that his body of work this year has been bad by any stretch, but I just think he has the ability to be better than he has been lately.

UND and CC will finish 5th and 6th. I think we finish 5th. UM's schedule is as brutal as ours...they sneak up to 6th at best.

But he had a system that never waivered...didn't always get the perfect result. Thru Hak's tenure what is our system or identity??
