Where is our win vs. any FBS team? Until we get one, it think refraining from taking shots at the FBS teams NDSU has beat is the better play here.
-
Our 2 halfbacks barely weigh 300+ lbs.combined, but I liked the way the way they hit the hole and cut out of it. Joey, IMO, throws a "lazy" ball. Take a long time to get from A to B. Not alot of arm strength. I can how if he is late delivering the ball vs. better competition, he is going to really struggle. Front seven looked good on D. Corners??? Little supsect. Safeties were solid. A win is a win, as last week a loss was a loss.

Congrats to NDSU. 5W 3L vs FBS teams as a FCS program. 'Nuf said. Impressive. The punt on 4th and 15 by "No Stones" Mussman vs. Fresno with a chance to win our 1st game vs. FBS team is why UND is an 'O"fer so far. But as Muss was quoted in yesterday's Forum..."we needed the make one more play" vs. Fresno. I have been able to get to know Bohl a litttle bit. He is a good guy and good coach. You can tell in coversations with him, he will coach to win every game...no moral victoires with him and "toe to toe" doesn't cut it. Can't argue with the success NDSU is having vs. FBS teams.

Good to see UND cracked the poll, but...I saw EWU, who is at #22 this week, play the Griz this Sat. in Missoula and I have also seen UND play a couple of times this year. There is no doubt in my mind having watched both teams that EWU would beat UND...even if it were in the Alerus. EWU is really, really good. My buddy, who lives in Seattle, saw EWU and UW 1st game of the year and said EWU was the better team minus the final outcome. EWU QB Bo Levi can flat out spin it. He is a good one. Put a talent like that pulling the trigger for UND and watch out! Again, good to see UND in the poll, but it's a poll.

Not writing off the season, but you're correct...I'm not a Muss fan. Thought he should of been let go at end of last year. Joey is a servicable QB and will improve. The game I have marked on the calender is Sioux Falls. They embarrassed us 2 years ago. Anything less than a UND blow-out and then the season is lost. BTW....UND has given up 190 yards thru the air in a quarter and a half.
-
We gave up 41 straight to Idaho last week. I'll set that as the uner/over this week and I'll take the over. Frenso will score 42 straight this week.
-
Last year was last year...what I saw vs. Drake and what I saw from the two teams today wasn't close to the same talent...even with our "better" QB this year. The Big Sky is a great conference with some very good teams. UND will need to build to get to the level of play I saw today. Maybe next week's game vs. Black Hills might change my mind though?? Game plan? Have you watched a Muss coached team in the last couple of years! Your comment on the Alerus is very true though. The Al seats half of what Griz Stadium does so in theory UND should be able to fill it...you are correct in that fan support is key.

Was at this game...let me just say this, UND has a loooooong ways to go to get to what I saw and experienced this afternoon. 26K+ wearing maroon and/or silver going nuts for 4+ hrs. in a GREAT outdoor stadium. Both the Griz and EWU passed the eyeball test and had talent all over the field on both sides of the ball. UND is getting to a great conference next year, but if what I saw is the norm in the Big Sky UND will be in trouble for a couple of years from a competitive standpoint. Both teams went for it on 4th down, took chances to WIN the game and the coaching dwarfs what UND has from both teams on both sides of the ball. Was just a great college FB game in a terrfic college atmosphere.

I'd even go as far to say that the #1's on the depth chart in the late 90's and early 2000's were more talented that the #1's the past 3-4 years. There is more depth on the past couple year's teams, but the top end talent hasn't arrived and IMO isn't even as good as it was in our last few D2 years. To win at this level today a coach has to recruit, bring excitment to the program, coach good to marginal to talent up and coach to WIN football games. "You play to win the game!"

Won't be that close...

Unlike NDSU, the FB program is not the crown jewel of the athletic dept. at UND...hockey is. That aside, the UND FB program under Muss has made virtually no strides forward during the D1 transition and IMO that starts at the top with the head coach. UND at this point in it's D1 status should be on par with USD, but we are not. UND should also have better talent and teams than they had during the end of their D2 status, but they don't. Muss hires his staff and he and his staff are responsible for UND's current situation of it's FB program. Add to the fact that Muss is one of the worse gameday coaches I've witnessed and you have what you saw yesterday...a team marginal on D1 talent, but more evident, poorly prepared and coached. As I posted earlier in this thread, Muss will get a minimum of 2 years in Big Sky play, but if UND only wins 1-3 conference games during those 2 years (which I see being the scenerio), he has to go at that point. I'm going to Missoula this weekend to see some buddies and we have tickets to the Griz/EWU game Sat. Should be fun to see what UND is getting itself into next year. "That kind of fan" isn't about going "toe to toe" anymore and isn't about moral victories. Duckies and bunnies need not apply either. UND FB "fans" should be getting more from their D1 FB program at this stage in the D1 process...period. They aren't and to me, Muss is the #1 reason.
-
The time to let Muss go was after last season. Now UND is stuck with him for at least 3 more years...counting this one. UND will not fire him prior to the FB program entering the Big Sky next year and he'll get a minimum of 2 years in Big Sky conference as UND won't can him after just one year in the Big Sky. He's teams are undisciplined, his offensive philosophy is a step up from MN 9-man coaching and he has created no excitement for the program since he arrived. But if his teams can continue to go "toe to toe" with the rest of the opponents on this year's schedule, he'll be just fine?!?!?
-
Another year of Muss and his offensive staff having the offensive unit play with handcuffs on. Give fans something to come to the stadium to get excited about offensively. Vanilla is being kind after the offensive scheme/plan from last night...and the year before, and the year...

cheap shot (noun): an unfair verbal attack on a vulnerable target. You want to reconsider your choice of words? Personally, I agree with what Goon said earlier in this thread.
-
You're right, but as a FB season ticket holder for a number of years now, there is nothing I've seen in the last two years that would suggest that a home playoff FB game is on the horizon before this logo/nickname issue is put to bed once and for all.

Red at Wahpeton has leveled off as it is starting to at Hixon as well. Wild Rice at Abercrombie is starting to level off today as well. Crest will be before Sunday and lower IMO what the NSW predicted. Leaving for the Frozen 4 at noon. No worries here. In Walaker we trust!

If this is a racehorse hockey game...advantage UND. Our top end guys, specifically our top 2 lines and then throw in Kristo, have as much speed but better skill. You let the Pony line race up and down...fogetaboutit! If it is a physical, grind it out game...advantage UND. More physical and rolling 4 lines will wear UM down IMO. 2 ways UND doesn't advance. 1) Good portion of game is special teams with UND on the PK alot. 2) Dell has off night...but this is highly unlikely IMO with how consistent he has been. I'll stand with an earlier prediction...4-1 UND. Close early, Dell is sharp then the man-child, Frattin, and Mr. Smooth, JG, take over half way thru the game.
-
There is just certain way things are done here...AZ just has to get the party started for opponent/game threads. But I'm with you...good teams trump karma. Go Sioux!
-
Was in Denver in '07 for the West regional semi when UND won 8-5 and neither goalie, JPL for us, could stop a beachball. This year we got a Dell...4-1 UND wins. Stars shine on stages like this. Dell will be huge. Frattin will continue to operate in beast mode and JG is going get 1 for sure...maybe 2.

So what's the real reason for all the Sioux bashing

A guy can only play X-Box, eat Cheetos, drink Grain Belt and watch porn for so long in one day! "Ma! The meatloaf!!" -

Apology or not , to go on a large regional sportstalk radio station and spew your BS was pathetic. Only a true JA would have come right out and said what you said on live radio. -
That is impressive, but I saw Miele play for the 1st time this year when Miami lost in the regional. I'm big on stats for these awards, but I also believe in the "eyeball" test. He didn't pass it. Frattin IS the best player in college hockey and IMO I don't think that is arguable. Whether he wins the Hobey is another story, but if he doesn't people won't be saying Panzer got robbed any more!

We have had 130 continuous days of snow cover on the ground to date. Good, bad or indifferent...all this *#@& just needs to come to an end! Dragging it out another 2-3 weeks isn't going to help the moral of the city.

The calender says March 31...but waking up to ANOTHER layer of snow doesn't make it feel like April is just around the corner. For those who work in the mental health arena in the F-M area, I'm sure a few are looking at buying or upgrading lake property after this winter and pending flood season!! People here are ready to jump off of cliffs...if only they could one in the valley. Goodness has this been a long winter! BTW...Sunday's forecast has the potential for a few more inches of snow!
