I think your summary above is very likely. UND will not win a track meet/shootout type game. They have to run the ball some and stop the run some. If both those things don't happen, I don't think UND will stay within 2 TDs. I am optimistic that the D can't be a bad as last year, especially vs. the run, and will give this team a fighting chance thru September. I hope I'm wrong as well on the potential outcome.

No one has said that...but at this stage for Muss another 6-5 season won't be palatable for most FB fans around here & co-champs of the GW banner doesn't go far anymore!!

They also got a very good RB that transferred in from Marshall and played well in week 1.

To win...period. As it has been posted numerous times, Muss and his program have completely run out of moral victocies...especially with what's going on in Fargo. Time to get a quality win in our own building. Getting an a** kicking won't be acceptable in any way and will not set up well for the next 2 games vs the MT schools. Agree that UND containing the run is the key to Saturday. Give up 250+ on the ground and this is a 2-3 TD loss at a minimum. Can't expect our RS QB to win the game on his own throwing it 40+ times playing catch up.

And how is that general scenario different than last season?

SU's win was the first big FCS win over FBS this season. Dont forget K State is the defending B12 champ. Then throw in SU has back to back FCS NCs in their pocket. That carries some weight. It adds up to the hype they got and deserved the last couple of days. UND desperately needs a FBS win but a win Saturday vs a top 10 FCS team is a start. All the SU and EWU wins do is make this next 3 game stretch more important for Muss and his staff to show they can get this program turned around. Lose the next 3...all at home...and I'll put the "For Sale" sign in Muss's yard!

And I'm sure there will be plenty of enabling apologists on Muss's behalf if UND gets hammered by 3-4 TDs too.

Until UND beats any FBS team or for that matter a top 10 FCS team we all better just shut up about SU FB in any critical or negative tone. It is a long view up to the top without needing a neck adjustment!!!

Time for Muss and squad to get a big time quality win. It's just that simple.

Jensen is flat out a winner! Slightly above average QB skills but off the charts leadership skills. Desire/will to win can not be quantified. Watched the last 13:30 minutes. Amazing final drive and huge win which is becoming the norm to the south. Time for UND to step up and at least get a quality FCS win vs. Jacks at home in a week. No more "toe to toe" BS. No more past Great West co-champs talk. Time to get it done next Saturday.

Game went as most expected. Saw So. Utah beat FBS So. Alabama last night. With no win vs. a FBS school to date and none on schedule this year, beating a top 10 Jacks team next Saturday would be a huge win for this program. Paging the DC...stop the run!!!

That's 1-2 vs the big 3 in Sept. Again IMO that won't cut it.

2-1 vs those 3 would put them at 4-1 (probably) heading to the EWU and with hockey in town that weekend as well could be a huge crowd for the EWU game.

Bottom line...enough with all the talk around here Muss and his team must produce this year and take some big steps forward. You want to generate interest in UND FB and keep it going thru the season...beat the Jacks, beat the Griz and beat the Cats. Even winning 2 of those 3 would be a big step in the right direction. Going 1-2 or 0-3 isn't going to cut it.
