What’s the scouting report on MacDonald? For those of us unwilling to watch game highlights of other teams…
He scored a sweet goal against us either this year, nice toe drag around a UND defender then sniped it.

Did we not have only 4 D with NCAA experience at the start of this season? It just seems unnecessary to me to add a 9th D.

<shrugs>
They may very well keep it at the current roster. I just wouldn't be surprised to see more movement.

Don’t we typically run with 8 D?
Yes but I wouldn't be surprised if another D came in...otherwise you're left with only four D with NCAA experience being that Komzak barely played last year.

Projection based on current info:
Forward (15):
GR - Jamernik
SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Montgomery
JR - Blake, McLaughlin, James, Strinden
SO - Perron
FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler
X - PortalDefense (9):
JR - Zmolek
SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Komzak, MacDonald
FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, Emery
X - PortalGoalie (3):
SR - Semptimphelter
JR - Johnson
SO - HedquistBenoit enters portal...wouldn't be surprised if another Dman enters as well.
So still room for another RHD to come in via portal, maybe a JR/SR to balance the classes a little. -

Looks like a solid addition for 2024-2025. If our portal additions are as good as they were in 2023-2024, we'll be in good shape.
If Blake signs as has been mentioned, would be great to land one/both of the Wilkie/Wood combo.

Weird to look at the chart and know for sure all the seniors will be done. Like the old days.
It'll be good to be back to that again.
Refreshing.- 1

Caleb MacDonald comes to UND out of the portal.
Looks to be a solid add for sure, although he is LHD, so we'll be short on RHD for next season unless some more moves are coming. And that SO class of Dmen is large.
Solid pipeline coming from UAF from the looks of it.- 1

Dylan Wendt (WMU) and Sam Lipkin (QU) have both signed pro deals.
Another one for QU signed...Graf after his JR season.
QU losing a fair amount of skilled forwards already...they'll have some holes to fill up front.
Lipkin, Graf, Quillan all signed NHL deals...and Fillion transferred to Miami. -

Let's get the ship righted with whoever is on the roster in September. I'll still bleed green either way and still have to explain to my wife why I yell at the TV on Friday's and Saturdays from October through

maybe.....he's pretty reliable tho...he knows what's what in und athletics.
It wouldn't surprise me if Carolina was putting the full court press on him to sign if he could enter free agency next summer if he doesn't sign this year.
Plus, he just had one of the best UND seasons for points in quite some time. That said, I'm sure Berry & Co (and maybe his dad) have told him that another season of strength training could do wonders for being able to step right into an NHL roster.
And...it would be sad if the last memory of him in a UND jersey was getting injured while attempting to take a shot at a UM player as time expired in yet another NCAA first round loss. Returning would give him a chance to erase that memory and bring home the final trophy next season...like his dad did.- 1

Does DU have an NIL collective as well? I honestly don't know.
Not sure how many people would contribute to it being that their hockey team has like 20 total fans.

Costantini could be getting some big minutes next season for WMU, could really see his numbers improve greatly.
He's one player that I wish would have stuck it out here...I think he could have contributed this year at UND, for sure.WMU loses 7 of their top 9 scorers from this year's team...only Bump and Costantini are scheduled to return.
Although it seems like they've been in that same position the last few years and always seem to get some players to step up offensively. The rosters of UNO and WMU will look very different next season...both of them losing a lot.

I’d bet top $ it has to do with Carle. He’s been incredible the past 6 years. Also, he really allows his skill players to play their own style, especially the dmen. I’ve actually heard that from some higher end players. Fairly attractive recruiting tool. (Can’t stand that I just posted this).
Certainly didn't hurt that Pohlkamp has already played for Carle this season too.
He would have been a great addition...as it is now, time to move on to the next best RHD guy!- 1

Lol, nice rankings. People pay for that?
Are the # of commits supposed to be for the 2024 class alone? If so, Maine is replacing almost their entire team with their freshman class.

If he wanted to experience big-city life in Denver, then it would have been a waste of his time to make a visit to UND yesterday; so I doubt that was the reason...Maybe he wanted to experience what a college championship feels like before he becomes just another human resource cog on an NHL team.
It’s been rumored that he was leaning DU since before he even entered the portal. It wasn’t a waste of time I’m guessing…maybe Berry and Co made the decision difficult for him.
As far as him wanting a college championship, then he could have prob picked from any one of 10-15 teams…including UND. -

I think it highlights that he trusts Carle more than the UND staff to get him to the next level.
Or it could be as simple as he’s spent the last year in Bemidji and wanted to spend the next 1-2 years in a bigger city?
All these kids have different reasons for choosing the schools that they do. Pohlkamp would be playing at the next level regardless of what school he attends, heck he could have stayed at BSU and accomplished that goal easily. Both DU and UND coaching staffs have proven without doubt that they are good at preparing their athletes for the next level.

Hopefully this is an indication that DU is losing a few (or all three) of their “B” dmen.

Ouch if the news is true about Blake.
Not entirely unexpected but I 100% agree that he could use another year just to physically mature. Just look at that last game against Michigan how many times he got knocked on his butt or off the puck. That was against college players, not AHL/NHL. He has the skills though for sure.
If he does sign, then a portal duo of Wilkie and Wood would be awesome…plus monster years from James & Perron.
You’d think Jason would be in his ear for one more year at UND.

Regardless of how or why the team needed to replace all the D, you have to admit that the D as a whole was better this year than last. And it’s looking much better moving forward with the pieces in place and the recruits coming in.
