  1. Schloss latest article made it sound like UND would wrap up this year’s roster prior to Aug 1st recruiting cycle starting. If that’s the case, I’d guess we’ll be seeing a couple Bat Signals in the next week or two.

Cupcake city. Plus, 7 of their 10 games are at home. Those could be Pairwise killers if they lose some of these.

McKenna is gonna be feasting on some cupcakes.  ;)
I would love for them to lose a few of them.  Including ASU to start the season to help out other NCHC teams.

  3. Rangers are fine having Emery at UND until he's pro-ready:

Emery told reporters in early July that he added 10 pounds of muscle to his wiry (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) frame. Rangers officials said when they drafted Emery that he needed to fill out and hone his all-around game. John Lilley, New York’s director of player personnel, emphasized at the time that the Rangers would not rush Emery and his development.

Emery echoed those sentiments. He’s more concerned about trying to win the NCAA National Championship with North Dakota then breaking into the NHL any time soon.

So, that’s to say, there’s no rush for Emery to turn pro. He could sign an entry-level contract next spring or remain in school, which is what Fortescue, another shutdown defenseman prospect, did heading back to Boston College this season for his junior year.

Bryn must have something up his sleeve. It’s crazy that nobody has an idea who is going to fill the last two roster spots in the middle of July. He has to have some reason to believe that one of these guys can end up here.

    Yes for sure.
Crazy new world we're in with all this CHL stuff.  By this time normally we'd know full roster or pretty darn close.
I think this UND roster as-is would be a tourney team.  They have a lot of very strong pieces and an elite d-corps.
Adding a guy like Martone to the current group would elevate them into the top 8 in the nation level IMO.

Who would be comparable to Eli McKamey as a recruit? I see mixed reviews about him on twitter. Some say he is a top player for his age, others have different opinions.

I find him really hard to project as a college player because nobody has played in the BCHL at his age. He put up 31 points in 52 games this season, which is a little underwhelming.

It'll be interesting to track how he does in the CHL this year...he'll still be young but we'll see how he does.

Minnesota bringing in a D3 guy, Graham Harris (2003), instead of going after any of the medium to high profile CHLers. Bold strategy.

Dang.  I would think there's got to be quite a few UMN fans that are a bit concerned about Bob's recent recruiting misses & strategy.

We need a Travel Vlog on Chyz. Call it, “Through These Trails”.

That would be super sweet to follow along, especially for the fans that love the recruiting side of things.
They'd have to wait to publish until players committed to not tip their hats to other teams on recruiting prospects.  ;)

    Schloss from the top rope!

I made the same point he makes about Bedard to a friend.  Also, calling out someone on Sportsnet by name! Hell yeah Brad.

Hope UND can save up some money (about $500k?) from its NIL and rev share for DuPont next season.  :)

The ensuing swarm of media coverage has been focused on McKenna's NCAA hockey-record NIL deal. The Herald confirmed with sources that the deal hit at least $500,000.

I sure hope that still needing to fill two forward roster spots for next year isn't hurting our recruiting efforts for Aug. 1! That's what worries me a bit that we may be spending more time than expected on next years roster. I'm sure they are still working crazy hard on Aug. 1 recruits though but don't want this taking time away or losing someone because of it.

I think that a guy like Chyz is able to do both pretty easily.  He's so connected in the recruiting world.
He was able to land Williams for 2026 right before he landed Reschny & Verhoeff for 2025.  Three very high end recruiting wins right there, all within a week or two.
