  1. It'll be really interesting to see how productive some of these CHLers are in NCAA.
You look at a guy like Noah Powell (also an ASU newcomer).  Puts up 5 points in half a season at OSU, then moves to the OHL where he puts up almost a pt/gm there.  Now back to the NCAA.

It honestly wouldn't shock me if most of these guys only score like 10-12 pts as freshmen.
Going up against much more defensive, and older, and stronger opponents...it's gonna be an eye-opener for the vast majority of them.

  2. Schloss did a deep dive into Williams and WHL U17 scoring stats.

What type of prospect is Williams? What should fans expect? That can be hard to measure with CHL players because there are no past examples of how they produce in the NCAA to use as a comparison. Instead, I looked at how many players have tallied 50-plus points in the WHL during their U17 season. Williams tallied 57 this season.

In the last 15 seasons, 27 players have done it.

The most notable part? Nearly all of them have been picked in the top two rounds of the NHL Draft — or will be.

Kid sounds exactly like the type of player that Chyz and Jax would be looking for...kid was born to be a Sioux.
    Get him signed up!

While he’s only 6’0, Bear absolutely loves getting involved physically and initiating forechecking through the body; all the while constantly moving his feet. Bear’s sheer willingness to be engaged and stay engaged stands out because frankly, it stands out against a number of players who seem to have higher skill ceilings than he does end up with at least one allusion that they sometimes cheat for something; skating, shooting, defense, you get the picture. Bear on the other hand, goes at 110% and 110 miles per hour no matter what he’s doing.

Big news if true. I hope Chyzk & Jax are still trying to recruit him to UND.

Adding a player like Bear to the team this fall would be a monster boost.
Defense should be a huge strength, goaltending looks solid...just need a couple offensive players to join up to piece it together.

A lot can happen over the course of a hockey season.

It sounds like both Chyz and Jax are really stressing keeping and recruiting players that really buy into the university and the team.
Whether that ends up being the case with these higher end recruits, I guess we'll see.  But we can hope that they are successful with that.

Jackson’s comments at a UND outing at Suite Shots from Fighting Hawks.com —

Head Coach Dane Jackson was the first coach introduced. Talking about the recruiting process in college hockey and his goals for the program this upcoming season. "I think we're really kind of getting back to our roots of, you," explained Jackson. "I've talked a lot with Gino Gasparini and Dean Blake and Dave Hakstol. Dave been in our building a lot, been talking to us to kind of helping us."

Glad to see he is utilizing all the resources he can to foster a change to a renewed culture.  Let’s hope that sets us back on the right path.

Get Coach Hakstol helping out as a volunteer coach until he gets picked up again in the NHL.  ;)

Jundt headed to Calgary.  The new normal for the 17 year olds has begun.

Yeah hopefully a year or two in the WHL will help get him up to speed at a higher level.

  8. It was mentioned on here last week about how Neutral Zone ranked BGSU the #1 recruiting class for next year.
Schloss did an article on that today:

If Bowling Green ends up with the best class — or even one of the top — it's not a case of winning recruiting battles against blue bloods. It means Williams projected that 21-year-olds from the CHL will translate to college hockey — and which ones — better than anyone else.

    Omaha is another intriguing case.

The Mavericks, who had success in the NCAA transfer portal the last couple of seasons, are expected to bring in more transfers from Canadian universities than anyone.

North Dakota has gotten a depth player in winger Josh Zakreski and will now start taking swings at top prospects.

  9. Last day for portal entrants.
We still might need to grab a dman and forward from the remaining group.
Not much left in there though.  Zetterberg is still intriguing to me...

He’s ranked as a 1st rounder…but I’m kind of confused how this kid isn’t a top 5-10 projected pick. His numbers are super good. His D might be a work in progress I suppose.

The bolded part seems to represent most of Michigan's roster at this point.  :whistling: ;)
