  1. Agreed. He has a great wrister, it's just a matter of getting him on a scoring line with a playmaker. His first two years he was asked to fill a role on a defensive line, so if he's made strides in the offseason I could see Hakstol putting him on one of the 2 top lines and giving him a chance to show his offensive skills as well.
  2. Scott Foyt stuck around as a senior that didn't get much playing time as a senior.
  3. If Hamilton is indeed no longer with the team, then that opens up a roster spot for David Toews.
  4. Great news on Gregoire. Looks like the anonymous poster on the DU blog knew their stuff. Spill it!
  5. I wonder why the Murray family would be upset with UND? The Sioux coaches didn't seem to be upset with Brady after his decision to leave...that loophole was something that was about to close, he needed to take advantage of it while he could.
  6. We have one person that has said that Grieco might play a year of juniors and another person that said Hamilton is no longer on the team. Let's wait until we hear it from UND before declaring it official. But I don't think that DTP operates that way. DTP should know that Fornier also couldn't cut it at UAA either...so not sure what he is talking about there. I could see the Hamilton rumor being true, as we will be loaded with forwards. But the Grieco rumor? We would be left with only 2 goalies this year, unless another goalie is being brought in with this recruiting class. I doubt that rumor is true.

    Toews Watch

That could maybe be because EJ signed like a month ago now, whereas Toews signed just a few days ago. We have to remember that this the WCHA we are talking about. I mean, look at how long it took them to resolve their issue with crappy officiating! Oh wait.
  8. If Duncan has another big year, he could be an early departure as well.
  9. I don't see why Forney would be redshirted. I see him being a contributor next season.
  10. Q&A with Evan Trupp on the Sioux blog: http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Evan's description of Hextall sounds exactly like Prpich.
  11. Great news on Mattson and Fink. Hopefully the source proves to be reliable. They would be great additions to the 2009 and 2010 classes. Mattson sounds like a great player, especially being with how young he still is.
  12. He has some stiff competition for that award. He has the skill to be in the running for it though.
  13. I graduated with his wife, Laura. Nice girl.
  14. Michigan's Andrew Cogliano (soph) signs with the Oilers: http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=206355&hubname=
  15. Heck, in that case, I used to be a forward for the Sioux.

    Toews Watch

If true, I wonder why all the other uber-soph players (Oshie, Chorney, Duncan, Toews, Finley) were included in the pact, but not Lee?
  17. I'm thinking that they wrote Lee instead of Chorney...and then completely forgot about Duncan...the Hobey winner.
  18. Unfortunately for some of the recruits they won't have much say in the matter. We don't need 18 forwards on the roster with 5 of them not dressing each game. With the returning players, it would be better for them to play another year of juniors rather than just practice with the Sioux all year.
  19. Teddy Purcell, freshman from Maine, signs with the Kings: http://goblackbears.cstv.com/sports/m-hock.../042707aaa.html Big loss for the Black Bears after already losing Leveille and Soares to graduation.
  20. Among those players that I listed, he was one that I thought could possibly stick around for all 4 years. If he has another great year, it will be hard to hold onto him, but it's possible. I also think that a healthy Forney could have a good season next year.
  21. And Oshie. The Hobey Hattrick in Denver: Duncan, Oshie, and Toews.
  22. UW loses their top 2 scorers - Joudrey and Dowell - in addition to Carlson (4th scorer), Brandt, Likens, Olinger, Elliott, Skille, and Piskula. That's 4 of their top 5 scorers and their starting goalie. Even with an impressive incoming class, that's a lot of people to replace, and to expect a bunch of frosh to fill those roles is asking a bit much IMO. I think the Sioux will be in a similar situation in 08-09.
  23. I wonder if the 08 recruits will have to defer with the possibility of how many players will be going pro AFTER this upcoming season. With all these current players sticking around for another season, I certainly won't expect them to stay yet another year after that. So we can probably expect Oshie, Chorney, Finley, and Duncan to all go pro after this upcoming year (and Toews and Lee if they don't go pro this summer), not to mention the graduating losses of Lammy, Radke, Kaip, and Bina. That's alot of people to replace, as well as almost all of our starting d-corps.
  24. That UW/Cornell regional game was insane. I fell asleep a couple of times! UW looks to have a couple of very good incoming classes in the next few seasons, this season and then when all those SSM players come in the year(s) after that. But Turris might be gone by then. I think that UW could struggle again this season. Losing their best forward in Skille, an All-American caliber goalie in Elliott, and a good group of seniors will be hard for even a very talented group of frosh to replace. UW is in the same boat as SCSU...Connelly and Weslosky both have big skates to fill.
