  1. I don't care about the grades. Ranking recruiting classes is nice for the papers/articles and all, but when it comes down to it, no one knows how incoming recruits are going to do in the NCAA until they actually play a few games. And sometimes then it actually takes a few years for a player to develop anyway. I wouldn't care if UND's recruiting classes were constantly ranked outside the top 10, as long as Hakstol kept getting the recruits he wanted (a good mix of stars and role players) and the Sioux keep having seasons where winning the national title is a strong possibility.
  2. You're just asking for him to get a game DQ then.
  3. I would say Trupp or Frattin. Frattin has a Duncan-like shot and Trupp reminds me of Jeff Panzer. Both of them could develop into quite a player by the time they are jr/sr. Once Trupp gets a shot on one of the top two lines, I think we will start to see his offensive upside, much like we are with Kozek this year.
  4. Thank you very much for the recap! Some good tidbits of info in there.
  5. That is freakin hilarious! Some of those Badger fans need to grow a pair and realize that this is hockey they are watching, not figure skating. Plus, the vast majority of them are probably too busy hopping around in the stands, so they end up missing most of the action anyway. I guess I can see their point in doing that though. I mean, if you were forced to watch UW's trap style of hockey, you would need to do something in the stands to keep you awake as well.
  6. It's amazing that the USA still outshot the Russians despite getting 10 less PP chances.
  7. Poor little guy. How can he play hockey with all those goons watching over him? As Oshie later stated in the article, it comes with the territory when you're a talented player. Just ask Parise. The article mentioned that Turris leads the nation in points per game, but neglected to mention how many points he has gotten in his first 4 WCHA games (2 assists). Pass it along to the WCHA? What the heck are they going to do? Maybe instead of Bucky Badger, his name should be Baby Badger.
  8. You guys and Anthony need to get a room, seriously. Nice start in the OHL for the kid though.

    Michael Lee

If he is only a JR, he could be an 2010 recruit if he played a year of juniors. That way, he would come in when Eidsness is a junior at UND. He could completely take over the reins from Eidsness once Brad graduates. There, I just worked it out for Michael.
  10. "Star player"? So either Oshie, Duncan, or Lammy I'm assuming? If this is in fact true, we can hope that it doesn't affect their performance on the ice.
  11. Aahh, you don't need dmen if you have highly skilled 2-way forwards. Hopefully we can get Mattson. I hope he comes here instead of UMN.
  12. Thanks for the info. Budish would be a great addition to the Sioux or Gopher class for 2009. Hopefully he goes with the Sioux. That would be two amazing classes in a row with our 08 class being stacked and our 09 class not far behind already.
  13. Man, you really love Anthony Grieco. The fact remains that he only played a few games in a Sioux uni...some very good (series against SCSU) and some very bad (series at UAA). We didn't learn enough from him in that time to know if this will hurt us in the long haul. If something should happen to Lammy, then Walski will fill the void until Lammy returns. Who's to say that Walski won't do as good or better than what Grieco would have done? But none of this matters. He's gone. So we can move on. I'm guessing Hakstol already has a plan formulating for another goalie to be brought in soon for depth reasons.
  14. Walski is only a JR. Eidsness will be a great goalie, but I wouldn't bring him in early. As AZSioux said, I don't think they would want to waste a year of his eligibility if Phil is going to be playing almost all the games anyway. Hak and Co will find someone to come in for depth...
  15. Yet another reason that the Sioux should get at least 3 points.
  16. It helps that UW isn't nearly as good at the transition game as CC is. CC is so fast and their dmen can transition the play from their defensive zone so well. UW won't have as many odd man rushes because of this IMO. I would like to think that a veteran Sioux team could get a sweep against a young UW team, but being that UW has looked good and the fact that the series is in Madison, I'd be happy with a split. UW has some talented freshmen, although Tech proved that Turris can be kept off the scoreboard when he isn't playing teams like Robert Morris (just 1A on the weekend). I think if the Sioux can stop that first line from UW with Turris and Street, that they should be able to get at least 3-4 points on the weekend.
  17. So were #7 and #16. I don't know who those guys are, but they must not be very good!
  18. Are you kidding me? The team has one poor game (well actually, 2 poor periods, as they dominated the first period on Sat against CC) in their first 7 games and all of a sudden all is lost. You're insane. No scoring beyond Oshie and Duncan? What about Kozek? Frattin? VandeVelde? Kaip? Watkins? Those guys have 18 points already. Please stay away from sharp objects during the course of the season.
  19. Hmm. Interesting. I wonder what his reasoning was? He may not get too much playing time this year, but I'm guessing he would have started a game against MSUM, UAA, etc. And then next year he would have challenged for the starter role with Eidsness and Walski. Too bad about Frattin. I'm assuming that he suffered an injury in the CC series? Hopefully he's just out for the UW series. It will give both Radke and Forney a chance to be in the lineup I guess.
  20. His parents planned for him to be a Sioux when he was named.
  21. Great play by Bachman tonight. He stole that game for CC in the 1st period.
  22. That better be a 5x3 for the Sioux.
