  1. Argh. The "Ole Song". Much like in Major League..."I hate this #*$%ing song". Let's hope we don't have to hear it too much this upcoming weekend. One (of many) things for the Sioux to work on this week in practice: Power plays Mankato gave BSU 12 PP's on Friday and 9 PP's on Saturday. Gotta make them pay for that many penalties.
  2. You just have to laugh at posts like this.
  3. Sounds like both Hextall and Mario have played well today.
  4. We might as well just get F's the rest of the semester then. Screw it.
  5. UMass won't be a pushover, they really outshot MSU earlier, just lost 3-1. Hopefully the Sioux come out re-energized tomorrow night and take it to 'em. Can't have any Sioux fans jumping off ledges this early in the season, now can we?
  6. I'm listening on fightingsioux.com. Do you have an account? You need an account, even with the free audio.
  7. I believe it was last year that Sioux Xtra worked an agreement with another college to offer the online broadcast for free as long as you were already an Xtra subscriber. I forget which series that was though... Maybe they will do that again?
  8. Football reruns? That's awesome! Nice job, CBS C.
  9. I was really impressed with Marto, Trupp, Gregoire, Miller, Hextall, Mario L, etc. Marto seemed more confident than last year. He really moved the puck well and got a good chunk of shots on net. I bet he has a great year. Not much more can be said about Trupp. It's just good to have him back out there. His no look pass for Kozek's goal was a beaut. Gregoire will be really good. Heck of a shot on his goal. Wish we could have seen Toews too... Miller looks faster, and seemed to do well on the point on the 1st line PP. I like both Hextall and Mario's gritty play. They both should score plenty of garbage goals in front. Good stuff.
  10. Agreed. A couple dirty goals right in front of the net tonight. Great to see.
  11. I can already see what the naysayers will say... In 06/07, the only reason Duncan was good was because of Toews. In 07/08, the only reason Duncan was good was because of Oshie. Now, in 08/09, the only reason Duncan will be good is because of VV. I don't care what they say, he just keeps putting up 40+ points and shutting them up.
  12. From Brad's blog: 16 Ryan Duncan--29 Chris VandeVelde--14 Brad Miller 20 Matt Watkins--22 Brad Malone--21 Matt Frattin 17 Jason Gregoire--19 Evan Trupp--10 Andrew Kozek 15 Brent Davidson--11 Darcy Zajac--8 Ryan Martens 9 Mario Lamoureux--26 Brett Hextall 2 Joe Finley--5 Chay Genoway 6 Zach Jones--25 Jake Marto 24 Ben Blood--3 Derrick LaPoint 4 Corey Fienhage 30 Aaron Walski 31 Brad Eidsness 35 Graeme Harrington Note: Everyone in except David Toews. Guessing he's nicked up, but don't know for sure.
  13. Henderson probably had the biggest impact for a walk-on.

    Sweet 16

60/40 in favor of the good guys now. Keep voting!
  15. It's time to move on from the Paukovich hatred on here. It sounds like both Bina and Paukovich have tried to move on, maybe the fans should as well. It's just my opinion, but I feel that the Paukovich and the Holy Cross situations have run their course. Time to move on, and focus on 08/09 Fighting Sioux hockey.
  16. I was robbed by a Gopher fan...and I didn't even see it coming!
  17. So what are you saying...you think they should run 5 forwards and only 1 dman? That might work, but it sounds too risky for my taste. And yes, I was kidding. The offseason must be too long, as the sarcasm meter appears to be broken on this message board.
  18. In general, the goalie doesn't have much impact to each game, or to a team over the course of the season, so Hakstol doesn't have a need to have a goaltender coach. So why would Hakstol see the goaltending position as important when it doesn't really factor into the outcome of the game much? Honestly, you could run 3 forwards, 3 dmen, and no goalie out on the ice. Just put the middle dman in front of the net when in the defensive zone. That would work for most situations. If you were playing a team without a lot of offensive talent, you could switch it up and run 4 forwards and 2 dmen. That would confuse the other team and generate a lot of offensive chances.
  19. Walski didn't play last year because JPL was one of the most consistent goalies in the NCAA all season. I have faith that Walski and Eidsness will be fine in net this upcoming year. People need to chill. The Sioux are going to be a tough team this year. Great defense, better offense than most are giving credit for here (all aboard the Trupp Express!), and we might as well ride a freshman goalie to a national title.
