Players announced for the USHL Prospects Game: http://www.ushl.com/news.php?news_id=586 UND recruits Jordan Schmaltz and Luke Johnson are playing.
-
Maybe UND was in the running for him prior to his commitment to SCSU, but SCSU made him a better offer. Not sure, just maybe a thought.

Gaarder was named WCHA ROTW: http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205356123

Weird, I didn't see the Czech goalie showboating after the game tonight... I'd never cheer for the Russians (unless they're playing Canada), but I wasn't sad to see the Czechs knocked off.
-
Great effort tonight with a depleted lineup! Let's hope we get some players back for Clarkson.
-
Two guys leave during the offseason partly because of playing time concerns...one highly touted recruit doesn't arrive on campus...another recruit gets sidelined for the year by the NCAA...the best incoming freshman in the nation has been out for almost the entire season...Knight is injured...Captain Lammy is injured...Rodwell is injured...Forbort is at the WJC (and injured)... I think that pretty much sums it up for the current status of the team and their "empty cupboard". There's not much in there that the coaching staff could have prepared for...even if they were prepared for Cichy and Bruno's departures, they were still expecting Miller and St. Clair to be playing right now. Toss in five current injured players and I think that explains the situation.

That's going to be one tired group of players after tonight. Geez, the Sioux really can't catch a break with injuries this year. Can Tate play out?
-
That tie sure feels like a loss. The Sioux were definitely the more talented team, and it showed, but Dell didn't have his best game and the Sioux fell apart in the 3rd with a 2 goal lead. That tie certainly doesn't help out PairWise situation. Absolutely need to win the next two games against Harvard and Clarkson now.
-
Horrible way to end that game in the 3rd. Nice work by the Czechs to celebrate every goal like a GWG in OT. I've never seen so much sliding on the ice and getting mobbed by teammates after a goal in the 2nd period of a game. Also, I'll be glad when this tourney moves overseas for a couple years. Having the Canadian crowd gets a wee bit annoying. While I'd love to see the US pull off the tremendous upset tomorrow...I just don't see it happening.

Yes, yes I know. Which is why I added that fancy little winky in there. Very difficult concept to grasp, I apologize. Next time I'll be sure to add several more smilies to assist the slower readers on the board.

If you understand what I mean with my joking comment, then why call it "pathetic"? Of course I know who Laleggia is...I've watched all the DU games that have been televised on FSN and have seen that he is a special player. But everyone knew that prior to him arriving at DU. That said, any "intelligent" fan would also realize that the BCHL has NEVER been known as a defensive league. Gifted offensive players always put up huge point totals in that league...some of them pan out in college hockey, others not so much.
-
They're putting up a ton of points in the BCHL. That said, put Wilbur and I on a line together in the BCHL and we'd both be averaging over 2pts a game. They forget to play defense up there.
-
A lot of defensive mistakes today. Clendening and Forbort both looked pretty bad with the puck. Clendening made three horrible plays with the puck on three straight shifts in the 2nd...luckily only one ended up in the back of the net.
-
Lucia is pulling an Eaves and getting commitments from anyone that can skate. Pretty soon he'll be able to have 6 full lines of forwards, with a minimum of 12 players a night healthy scratches.

NAHL > Vermont?

Deleted the other thread and moved this one from the Non-UND Sports section...I figured more people would see it here. Plus, Forbort is on the team, so it's UND related. After watching today's game, I really wish Miller would have decided to stick with his commitment. He's not super flashy, but appears to have good speed, good hockey sense, and can play physical too. He would have been fun to watch develop in green (and added much needed forward depth this season).

The Gophers have always had their pick of the MN blue chip recruits. Their success with those blue chip recruits has varied through the last decade or so. I will agree that their current group of recruits looks great on paper. We'll see how their skill translates to the NCAA game and how long some of them even stay in college. I have confidence in Hakstol and Co's ability to bring in recruits, both high-end and role players.

LSU/Alabama would have almost no chance against an NFL team. We're talking Miracle On Ice, one-in-a-million chance. The Sioux lost to the WJC team, comprised of the absolute best U20 players in the entire country...essentially an all-star team of the best college and MJ American players. I doubt that many on here expected the Sioux to win that game. Also, the Sioux were short one of their better players for that game...being that he was playing for the opposing team (and actually scored the last goal for the U20 team). That same U20 team went on to win the WJC just a few weeks later...best in the world! USA!
-
I think the problem is that these people weren't thinking. The absolute worst DI NCAA team would annihilate the best NAHL team.
-
I think if he transfers to another college, wouldn't he have to enroll in school this upcoming semester to be eligible next Xmas break?
-
The Russians showed some skill/speed, but they couldn't connect on passes and kept trying to make the "cute" play only to have it broken up immediately. I think the Russians could potentially beat some of the NCAA schools on their schedule though as they get more used to playing with each other. Great to see Tate get an entire period of play. Gaarder continues to impress. He was being double shifted for a good portion of the night on the 1st and 4th line, and he didn't look out of place at all. Gleason reminds me of Genoway with his speed and ability to rush the puck up ice. I really think he is more effective at defense than forward. Bring on Harvard! We need some OOC wins!

When it rains it pours over in Boston, I guess. That would be unfortunate if true. CC beats MSUM, SCSU crushes DU, and BSU sweeps UAH. DU has gotten off to a very slow start for a team that many were anticipating walking away with the league title. Injuries have hit them hard (just like the Sioux).

Check out these lines!
