  1. UND sweeps Mankato on the road. Check out that box score: http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1415/boxes/wmnsndk1.o11 Outshot them 49-9 but win in a squeaker...2-1.
  2. Blais would never lose a 2 goal lead. Alaska Fairbanks seems to have started the year well.
  3. Sandelin has been head coach at UMD for 14 years...this is his 15th. Of the 14 seasons, UMD has been .500 or below for 8 of those seasons. You really think the rabid UND faithful would be happy with every other season being a losing one? If you're getting a new head coach, at least replace him with someone with a decent track record of putting winning teams on the ice consistently.
  4. UND could lose every single game of the year until the NCHC playoffs and then run the table from there through the NCAA's. Easy enough! Can you imagine the emotional roller coaster of ss.com if that were to happen!
  5. Crazy night for hockey. A lot of traditional powers getting taken out by lower-ranked teams. Eichel appears to be quite good, as expected. 2g/2a for him tonight in a 8-1 win.
  6. So, if St. Clair plays, this game turns into a UND win? While I would assume we'll see St. Clair tomorrow night (among a few roster changes I would guess), Hakstol's selections for the roster tonight wouldn't be what I would call "outcoached". It was the first game of the season...all the coaching staff had to go off of was the exhibition win, which is a small sample size and showed a performance where most players brought a good intensity level (against subpar competition).
  7. How so? Please explain. You can't coach effort.
  8. Go Miami, WMU, and UNO. Let's not dig a OOC record hole for the NCHC right off the bat...
  9. Good article on Hakstol in the Herald: http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/und-mens-hockey-understanding-hakstol I didn't know this before:
  10. Agreed, hope he stays at least 2 years...
  11. Really? The writing was on the wall for quite a long time there with all the controversy. With how politically correct everything is getting, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. I'm not saying that I like it, but I certainly wasn't surprised that it happened.
  12. That's impossible...you're talking about SiouxSports.com! We should start a poll for when the first Fire Hakstol thread will pop up.
  13. The ladies certainly never want to make it easy on themselves for a postseason bid.
  14. Great start to the season for the ladies with a 7-1 non-conf win against RPI. Tomorrow they face Vermont. A couple non-conf wins would be huge to open the season.
  15. Maine won. Looks like all the UMN fans voted for Maine, so it was skewed a little. Something tells me that Maine won't get nearly the same number of votes tomorrow!
  16. Vote for 87 UND team against the 93 Maine team: https://www.facebook.com/ncaamenshockey
  17. Holy crap! We're less than a week away! HOCKEY!@##*!!@!@
  18. Bringing home the Nickel Trophy!
  19. Now there's some optimism that I can get on board with.
  20. Yeah, they provide bikes, accommodations, food, bike trip guides, etc. They aren't cheap, but my wife and I decided to splurge for our honeymoon. http://www.trektravel.com/
  21. Yeah, it was a very cool trip...my wife and I went on a Trek Travel trip for our honeymoon about 7 years ago. It was the "Classic Climbs of the Tour" trip, so we climbed Alpe d' Huez, Galibier, Tourmalet, etc. The only climb that I really wanted to climb that wasn't part of the trip was Vontoux. It was a trip of a lifetime, for sure!
  22. Here's a pic of me from a couple years ago wearing my UND geometric head cycling jersey. It's at the top of Alpe d' Huez, a very famous climb in France (ridden in the Tour de France quite regularly). I didn't realize prior to climbing it that there was a skating rink at the very top. When we were biking past it on our way up, there was a hockey game being played. By the time we changed clothes and made our way over there, the hockey game was over and figure skating was going on instead.
  23. I'm up to 3200 miles on my bikes so far this year. To be fair though, I have been biking since January...a little bit less snow on the roads in AZ in winter time.
  24. Agreed. That argument doesn't make much sense. And exactly, if he is worried about cracking the lineup at UND...best of luck as a pro!
