Brad mentioned on his blog that the four teams for the Nye Classic next season are UAA, UAF, UND, and Air Force.
-
It looks like Mercyhurst, Michigan, UAA, and UAF were the teams playing in it this year. But it was called the Kendall Hockey Classic instead of the Nye Classic (according to USCHO).
-
From Brad: OOC has us playing Notre Dame, Maine, Duluth to open the new DECC, the Nye Classic, and some guy named Robert Morris. Anyone know who the other opponents would be for the Nye Classic? I would assume UAA & UAF would also be there...
-
Just ordered my tickets for the Notre Dame tourney in a few weeks, so I'll be there for sure. It appeared that the upper level tickets were sold out, so we got tickets near the blue line, row 2. Nicely priced tickets for the 2-game package, although the "fees" certainly bumped it up a bit.

Agreed. This is not the "defensive first" Badgers of old. This UW team can score. Hopefully VV can play, because we will need his offensive presence on the ice. I would be very pleased with 3-4 points, but would not be surprised if a split happens.

I like him as well, but mainly for the reason that he will eventually drive UW down the toilet with his over-recruiting antics. How many decommits can UW have before future recruits start looking elsewhere? It doesn't help that he passes out scholarship offers like "vendors" pass out hooker ads on the Vegas strip. It isn't until later that he realizes that he has 48 players on the roster...then he starts cutting. This will bite him in the ars eventually.

Happened the game where UW raised their banner from the 06 Championship season. Zajac scored the GWG in OT to win for the Sioux: http://www.uscho.com/recaps/20062007/m/10/13/und-uw.php From the stats that year, it looks like he missed about 14 games (not sure if they were all due to this injury or not).

11 games where the Sioux have been leading after two, and they've only won 9 of them!?!? THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!
-
Is that the internal suspension that we all heard about? It was mentioned that one of the refs already had their plane tickets set for the following weekend, so they would be reffing, but then not after that. So that could have been Bokal. Interesting. Maybe it wasn't just a conspiracy theory.

If the Sioux can somehow manage to sweep UW next weekend, I'll forgive them for the OT loss last night. Honestly, I'm not concerned with the WCHA standings this year. I think we all knew going into the season that we were very young and DU would be very tough (Chambers told us so). It's not like I want to see DU win the MacNaughton, but if UND can have another strong 2nd half and do well in the F5, I like their chances in the NCAA's. Once both Genoway and VV are back on the ice, the Sioux will be a force once again. What is our record with Genoway? And without? Get both of them back to start the 2nd half, the youngsters are already starting to play better, and I think that has the makings of a title contender. Will they turn it around in time to make a push for the Mac? Maybe, maybe not. My guess is that DU will have accumulated too many points on us by that time. But anything is possible. Just finish 3rd or better in the WCHA, win the Broadmoor, and then take a swing for the national title. With our two captains and scoring leaders back on the ice, I think that is quite doable. Go Sioux.

? Which box scores are you looking at? The following games have the Sioux getting out to a 2-goal lead and then increasing that: Game 1 against Merrimack: Leading 2-0, Mack tied it at 2 in the 1st, then the Sioux scored 3 straight to win 5-2. http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20091009&am...nd&gender=m Game 1 against UMN: Sioux get out to 2-0 lead in 2nd, then score two more to win 4-0. http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20091016&am...nd&gender=m Game 1 against UAA: Sioux get out to 2-0 lead in 1st, then score 3 more goals to win 5-0. http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20091023&am...aa&gender=m Game 2 against MTU: Sioux get behind 1-0 in 1st, then score 4 straight goals to win 4-1. http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20091107&am...tu&gender=m Game 1 against SCSU: Sioux get out to 3-0 lead, SCSU cuts it to 3-2, Sioux win 4-2. http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20091113&am...nd&gender=m

They didn't leave any points on the table last weekend.
-

-
UND 2 UMD 0 End of 2nd.

I don't know. My in-laws are using the tv with cable. Cheverie not having the best of nights for DU. He has let in 2 goals on 3 shots.
-
Wiercioch not returning to the ice. And then DU ties it up on the PP. CC 2 DU 2 Not much going on so far in the 2nd period of our game. 4min left in 2nd.

UMN 3 MSUM 2 In the 2nd CC 2 DU 1 In the first...Wiercioch for DU is injured and still on the ice.

No doubt. Hopefully we can slow down UW next weekend.
-
UMN 3 MSUM 1 CC 1 DU 1 UW 4 MTU 0
-
Heck yeah!! 2-0 UND
-
UMN 3 MSUM 1 In the first.

From Brad's Friday night rewind: We knew the Sioux had depth. Good to see the scoring by committee. Time to start the countdown to 100 for VV. Ouch.

In my limited viewing of Olsen (the UMD/UMN series), I didn't really see him stand out either. MacWilliam has been excellent as a frosh dman, and he will probably stick around longer in NCAA hockey than Olsen will. I like the former Camrose Kodiak dman that we got over UMD's.
