  1. No Hain for several more weeks: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-will-be-without-gavin-hain-for-the-near-future?fbclid=IwAR0Ui4WBVia-S8sZOIkzBzcGFANQ6nZqOMi18ldaG9bvVXiehgnOqoK237g Also talks about Caulfield's drought:
  2. I'll forget all about Morrow/Rizzo/Halliday if Berry somehow manages to land Cooley. I doubt it'll happen, but we can dream. Anyone heard which direction he might be leaning?
  3. Going to be a tough series. They always play so well at home, and our play since the new year has been very uninspired.
  4. UND back up to #10 in the PWR though with DU's win.
  5. Geez, that looked pretty weak. I've been shoved harder than that in my no-contact adult league with no penalty called. Granted, I didn't purposely fall directly into the boards after it happened...maybe I'll have to try that next time.
  6. Agreed that their schedule is pretty weak, that's why they're sitting at #5 in the PWR despite only having that one loss. Impressive with how they're convincingly beating the opponents they do have though. If this year's UND team had their schedule, you know they'd have closer to 5-6 losses with how inconsistent they are. Watching both the Cornell and the QU series against UND, I would think that QU should be able to beat Cornell.
  7. UND moved back down to #11 in the PWR with two games still to finish tonight. Quinnipiac continues to cruise...they are now 16-1-3 with their lone loss to UND.
  8. Potential upset alert: NMU up on #1 MSUM 3-1 at end of 2nd
  9. At least they got it rescheduled (for now). Sucks that Sanderson will be missing another series in February now though.
  10. This sounds like an interesting team. It worked out for the Miracle on Ice though!
  11. All my post illustrated is that Berry can, and has, built multiple championship level teams. But anything can happen once the players hit the ice. Like if Michigan doesn't win the title this year...they certainly built a championship team, but they may not win it. Either way, no worries. If you want him fired for failing to win a title when COVID killed the postseason...or if you want him fired for not winning a 5OT regional final game...or if you want him fired while his team is currently leading the toughest league and in position for making the postseason again...then so be it.
  12. Including the 2016 year, UND has had the best team in the nation three times over the last 6 years. One year they won the title. One year COVID won the title. One year they lost a heartbreaker in 5OT. Would have been great to have another title from those three amazing teams, but stuff happens in college hockey one-and-done format (not even including the COVID cancellation year). He's shown he can build a championship team and he's won the title. If he's gonna get canned, it's not going to be anytime soon, regardless of what happens this year.
  13. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-omaha-series-postponed-due-to-covid-19-outbreak?fbclid=IwAR3ue4EscLwmW-trpULfI2FjmqXIpB_1Z8ULX9HQH8md3iS8XSPclb9v0lI
  14. They shouldn't. Michigan cancelled a game even when they had enough players and no COVID issues. This is a COVID-related postponement, so falls under all the COVID bs.
  15. Accurate assessment I’d say from what I’ve seen from the team since 2022 rolled over.
  16. Looks like possibly Minnesota too.
  17. Ah thanks, didn't realize it got moved into a new thread over there. Thanks!
  18. I don't see him signing with Ottawa after the Olympics are over. Bailing on the team in the middle of the stretch run would be a bad look as well. From the timelines I've seen, depending on how USA does in the tourney, he could only miss between 2-3 weeks. And since UND has a bye week in the middle of that, he could miss as little as 2 series or possibly at most 3 series.
  19. I wonder if any other NCHC players are in the mix for a spot. All I've heard is that Power for Michigan is on the Canada team too.
  20. Haha, gotta step up your game. Yeah it seems like a lot of the top teams retained multiple players for their 5th year. How nice would it have been to keep Adams for another year? Late bloomer that really played well his last two years. He would have been fun to watch with Gaber.
  21. Wow, that's crazy. UMN's backup goalie has played 28min so far this year. He'll get thrown into the mix now!
  22. Hard to believe Michigan was able to play two games in a row like that. Puts a lot of stress and workload on their players.
  23. Out celebrating their big weekend! Good to see. Sucks about Hain. Can't afford to get all these injured forwards, especially when Hain was on the shutdown line.
  24. Why are the UND fans upset? It might have something to do with being swept at home by a non-conference opponent for the first time since October 2006. Just a guess though. 1/3 of your roster is different from that 19/20 team. Both UND and Cornell were dominant that year. UND is hardly dominant this year, and from what I saw of Cornell this weekend...neither are they. They scored on enough of their chances to sweep UND, so credit to them. As I said earlier, they appear to be a fine team. But both of these teams are going to need plenty of puck luck and a perfect game to beat the likes of Mich, Mankato, SCSU, WMU, Quinnipiac, etc if they meet in the NCAA's. It'll be interesting to see how Cornell matches up against QU when they play them...QU was a very fast, very skilled team when we played them earlier this season...UND was lucky to get out of there with a split.
  25. Berry has had three excellent teams since he took over as HC. One was the national champ year. One was easily the best team in the nation before the entire postseason was wiped out by COVID. One was easily the best team in the nation before the postseason was "influenced by COVID" (opponents getting byes due to cancelled games) and lost in a multiple OT heartbreaker to a rival. This year we knew would be a difficult year after all the players came back for last years title run and then left or signed pro contracts. Berry has built (or helped build) those three amazing teams...he can do it again, but it needs to start now with nailing down some more high-caliber recruits.
