Great to hear from you, Puck Swami! I always enjoyed your posts on USCHO back when I was a consistent poster there. Thanks for stopping by over here! I wasn't aware that DU had such a poor PK, that's a surprise to be honest. UND had a pretty poor PP to start the season...it's trending better since the New Year but certainly not to the level that it was last season, when UND relied on it so much more. UND's PP seems to do better when not pressured...if the PK wingers attack the points they tend to cough it up or make a poor pass that gets cleared. DU's offensive depth is indeed impressive. That certainly could set them up for a good postseason run. I too am interested to see how Berry matches up lines now that he has last change at home. I'm also interested to see what he does with the lines, especially if Johannes is back in the lineup after missing Sat game against SCSU. I know the popular phrase is "sweep at home, split on the road", but if UND ends up with 3-4 points this weekend, I think that would be viewed as a successful weekend against a very strong DU team.

DU still on fire offensively. UND is going to have to play very good defensively to keep them in check, plus we’ll need a huge weekend from Persson again.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Exactly what I was thinking as well. As others have mentioned already, it seems Berry doesn't want to put Schmaltz on the 4th line, but I don't view it as a "demotion" for him, just pairing him with players that complement his playing style better. Those first two lines would have as much skill or more than any other team they would face. Would be quite the battle against DU's top 2 lines with all their talent. And that 3rd line is pure energy. All three of those guys skate with purpose and are heavy on the puck. You could match them up against any line from the opposing team and I bet they'd do a good job at shutting them down and putting up some decent points at the same time. C'mon Berry! Make it so! -
UConn beats UNH, 2-1 and drops UNH from #12 to #16 in the PWR.

I wonder if any suspensions will come of that...possibly DU a little short-handed next weekend?

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/jayden-perron-gets-new-assignments-in-series-finale-at-st-cloud-state?fbclid=IwAR05GfBjKSCyelPAF0Vx9VOSrPhulRgrN65UCbFmeXcwLLCsE4YBxoTtKvE Perron got two assists in the 3rd period once he was put on that line w/ Berg & Gaber. Even if Johannes is cleared to play for this weekend, I'd like to see them keep that line intact against DU. They obviously had some good chances and put up some points. You could use these lines or similar: Perron/Berg/Gaber James/OMac/Blake Jammer/Strinden/Johannes Kunz/Schmaltz/Ness-Albrecht -
Omaha didn't put up much of a fight against DU this weekend. All these DU skaters have 3, 4, or 5 pt games.
-
Looks like it dropped them to #11 so far.
-
All in all, a very successful weekend. moved up in the PWR to #3 now in a tie for 1st in the NCHC streak of not losing in regulation continues (17 games currently) If that streak is still ongoing after next weekend, I'll be VERY impressed.
-
I don't know, that was much improved from the previous four OT games.
-
Banner raising?
-
We won the series already. Now let's win the game and get rid of the OT gremlins.
-
Nice upset: #52 UAA beats #9 Prov 4-0
-
Gaber has been quiet this weekend.
-
SCSU has given up quite a few odd man rushes...UND just hasn't converted on a single one. Not gonna win many games when you can't cash in on your chances.
-
I can't believe the refs didn't even look at that or see any other angle. It certainly looked like it could have gone in from the one brief shot we were shown.
-
Yeah this is a butt kicking so far. SCSU hungry to avenge last night's loss and UND has no offensive push to match.
-
You could feel that one coming.
-
Professional for their age.
-
Persson big save! SCSU winning ALL the loose pucks.
-
SCSU came to play. Maybe play in their zone a bit, boys!
-
They could have easily done this tonight with Johannes out injured. Perron with Gaber and Berg would have been a fun trio to watch.
-
Johannes injured for tonight's game. Kunz jumps to the 1st line.
-
DU has a very impressive scoring duo in Rizzo and Devine...both of them with 38 pts this season already. Have to contain them next weekend if we want to get some points.
-
Great to get the win tonight. I know we’d all love to see the sweep, but any points tomorrow would be huge. SCSU is a quality team…winning the series on the road would be great for the Penrose race. That said, I hope they crush them tomorrow.
