  1. Not sure if you guys saw the interview with Kennedy on WDAY.... On camera he said exactly what Schlossman suggested. He said that UND was looking at all options including a change in conferences. He even went so far to say how it would be fun to play against traditional rivals. I don't know how anyone would say that his interview was anything but directly confirming the idea of switching conferences.
  2. So we are going through this exercise again? How many times have you stated that something is going to happen just to have it not happen. Is it just me or is the doomsday clock more accurate than the BSC to WAC to FBS expansion Clock
  3. What difference would it really have made if Pres Kennedy would have been available for questions? Does delaying his conversations with the media by a day or two change anything? Each of the questions that Miller presented in his column are legitimate. The problem is that Kennedy doesn't know the answers. Q:How do you whiff on a budget by 1.4 Million? A: We are reviewing the specifics. Q: Why are you moving the athletics' CFO out of the department? A: This will allow for better institutional control. Q: Who is going to serve on the committee? A: That has yet to be determined. To me this is simply an attempt at a power play by the Herald. Contrary to what Forum Communications believe, the presidents of universities are not beholden to the media. To do things when and how they say it needs to be done. Will Kennedy be available to answer questions. Yes, when he gets back. Will it be on the Herald's timeline? Nope.
  4. Sounds good. We'll make sure to coordinate the heist with your criminal hockey players.
  5. The head to head record has nothing to do with the trophy. Since neither of the universities own the trophy it should not be located in Grand Forks.
  6. The team has recruited very well over the past two years and will challenge for the Summit league title this year. They just won a tournament in Pittsburgh last week where they beat Youngstown and Duquesne (both quality teams from good leagues).
  7. Oral Roberts did inflate the rpi in the past however with SDSU, NDSU and Oakland having good RPI's I expect that the teams have improved more than the loss of Oral Roberts.
  8. my 2 cents as an outsider.... 1. Big Sky has a far superior TV deal to the Summit - Advantage Big Sky 2. Footprint - This really should be in favor of Summit but might vary depending on your ponit of view (i.e. timezones, "cooler" locations, "not-ncc teams"). The summit footprint (even with Denver and Oakland) is in reality much smaller than the Big Sky with far more schools to bus to. 3. Non-Football Sports - The Summit league has consistently ranked higher in conference RPI in mens basketball (and has gone back and forth in the other sports) 4. Football - I'm not going to get into a pissing match over which is the better/harder conference. For arguments sake lets call the conferences even. Personally, I don't really care if UND stays in the Big Sky or not. I think that the addition of Denver does add to the conference (especially if Oakland is not able to jump to the Horizon League). With the improving men's basketball programs at NDSU/SDSU, I can see the "prestige" of the Summit improving over the next 5 years. I think that the overarching goal is to consistently reach the top 15 status in conference RPI.
  9. Makes sense... I didn't think of the open meeting laws and the details of the settlement. On its face it seems fishy but i'm willing to buy what you're selling.
  10. I don't know that i fully agree with your statement but in my opinion there is NO reason that anyone associated with the REA should be in attendance.
  11. Now that there is a meeting in place, what are the general thoughts regarding talking points for the ND delegates? What leverage will the Gov et al have that would sway the NCAA? Many have talked about not laying down to the NCAA. While I think that the group will have to be assertive, they also need to present with more than just a "pretty please" request. What can they say or do that would make the NCAA change its mind? Discuss.
  12. Wow... no playoff games for 20 years.... original. nice work. I'm still confused as to why the NCAA would change their stance. It's their organization and in the end they can do whatever they want with it. I'm no UND supporter but I just don't see this working out well for the athletic department. I think that this may work out well for those who want the nickname and logo however is UND being on the NCAA naughty list worth it? Also, if/when there is a lawsuit, i sure hope that this is funded privately and not by general funds. The NCAA has deep pockets.
  13. Not trying to fan the flame but I have a few questions: 1. This does not require the AG to sioux the NCAA. What happens if the AG refuses to do this. 2. If the AG did sue the NCAA, what happens if when the AG loses the lawsuit (like before) Is it possible that this vote will keep the nickname but in return UND loses all home playoff games from here on out?
  14. funny but that's the same thing that we used to chant after the '97 flood...
  15. I kind of like the brave as an option. It could be made into a really cool logo plus it takes a shot at the native american activists.
  16. I love reading all of the speculation regarding this.... It's quite fascinating. <yawn> Bottom line is that NDSU is putting on a hiring freeze. Some is due to not receiving their payments and some is due to waivers. NDSU has decided to be aggressive in growing the university. Some of this comes with the territory. If only the state funding inequities were resolved NDSU would have MORE than enough cash to pay for those additional waivers.

speaking of the Montana games....What were the terms of the contract? A heavy Montana buyout I assume? If not, good luck on getting them to come to GF.
  18. I'll admit that i'm not totally up to speed on UND athletics but I do have one question.... When the decision was made to move up to D1....where there many people who publically criticized UND? Was there a divide between those at UND and in Grand Forks?
  19. a few comments..... #1 how can anyone hate so many schools? SPORTS! SPORTS! SPORTS! IS YOUR WHOLE LIFE SPORTS? #2 No Wisconsin but F those Davidson and Northern Illinois people! Reallly? credibility lost in 3...2...1... #3 "and most of all, NDSU" --- typical. #4 Where is UM-Crookston? #5 worst. thread. ever.
  20. Yes, NDSU will be loosing its top two scorers but that does not mean that those following in their footsteps are really any worse. Right now we have 5 guys who have been very dependable and have limited the minutes of the other guys. That doesn't mean that those other players will not improve or step up to the challenge next year. Also, this talk about NDSU struggling to be a .500 team next year is silly. That is a very uneducated statement. Of the top 10 scorers in the Summit this season EIGHT are seniors and the other two are juniors.... Of the 11-20 scorers 3 more are SENIORS. While NDSU might have to replace a few of its top scorers, it's not as if any of the other teams are in any better shape.
  21. Strange, that i've seen conflicting reports on the USD game. Gobison.com posted a game against SDSU in 2010 and the startribune posted USD. Gobison.com's post is just a reprint of a UofM release.
  22. SDSU is also on the schedule for 2015.
  23. I was unable to make it to last nights Force game... Were any of you at the game? What did you think? How was the arena (I know...it's not in the same universe as the Ralph)? I'm just looking for some feedback from people who attend hockey games on a regular basis.
  24. I think that it's quite funny that there is a thread about the bison game on this message board. After all, you are all the same bunch who rip bisonville for this sort of activity. what is th word i'm looking for.......hmm....oh yea. Hipocrite. A couple thoughts from the game: 1. the bison won a hard fought game and should have won by much more. It doesn't help that we miss 3 field goals and had multiple turnovers/penalties/miscues. for a team that was supposed to be good (in the Salukis), we played a subpar game and was able to come back and win easily. Good luck to the sioux when they play Dale and the boys in november. 2. I love how the poster is talking about how "NDSU fans have not let the sioux go"..... I personally loved the t-shirts that said "sioux-lukis" and "got nickel" on the back of a southern illinois shirt. If anyone hasn't given up the rivalry it's you fellas. To come to an opposing teams game to see a headcoach who left the school (due to a highly disfunctional) AD and President seems a bit foolish to me. My response to those guys..... "Thank you for donating to NDSU Bison Football... Your money will be well spent"
  25. Fixed your quote again...
