  1. If they are kicked out of school and they are found to be innocent.... what happens then? Do they have legal recourse againist the University for their dismissal from the football team as well as the university (due to lost scholly)? The University should let the legal system do what it does. Once there is a ruling the University should act. Until then I think that suspension is entirely appropriate. There is no need to kick them out of school and off the team.
  2. Settle down... These guys are innocent until proven guilty. The Duke case is a perfect example. In that case they stated that they had tons of evidence which they were never able to produce. In this case the police state that they have tons of evidence... which they have yet to produce (except for stating that they have it). While I am leaning towards believing that these guys are probably guilty (of something) that doesn't make them guilty until they are proven guilty.
  3. My point exactly and that is why the UofM should learn from what went wrong at Duke. The student athletes involved (and even those not involved) were adversly affected due to something that ultimately was NOT true. If these four players are innocent and they are dismissed from the team that will have a VERY negative impact on them for something that they never did. Dismissals should not be par for the course. I am all for them if they are found guilty but until that point, suspensions are more than appropriate.
  4. That is true.... Please remember though that the DA for the Lacrosse case said that they had DNA evidence in that case. That was ultimately not true and we all know what the outcome was.... My point was that these guys have not been convicted of anything. I understand the suspension but expulsion of the players from the team might not be the best move.
  5. I don't know what I feel regarding the suspensions. These four guys have not been convicted of anything (as of yet). I'm not saying that they did not do it but as of yet they are not charged with any crimes. I would have preferred a suspension (which is basically saying that they can not play) and then an expulsion if/when they are found guilty. This sort of situation could possibly turn into another Duke Lacrosse incedent.... (not that I think that this is likely). What if these actions were consensual. What if the one player lied to the police in order to stay out of trouble (he will soon be serving time for theft). There are many variables and I think in the end the court will hear the facts and make a verdict. I think that the popular move would be to kick the players off the team but if they are found innocent what happens then? Will their scholly still be available to them?
  6. Does the use of the word "tribal" mean anything? I am pretty sure that the "hositle and abusive" term has more to do with a logo than a use of the word "tribal" when explaining the design of the logo.
  7. I don't really want to chime in on this conversation because I think that it's pretty silly but.... Since I live in Minneapolis and commute to Chicago for work almost every week I thought that i'd fill you in on the merchandising stuff..... NDSU apparel is found in almost all major sporting good stores in Minneapolis and I have also seen apparel in stores in the Chicagoland area. Regarding D1-AA vs. FCS. DaveK can call it whatever he wants. There will be a time however when the accepted term will be FCS. At that time, people will look at DaveK and wonder what the hell he's talking about.... A great example is this.... What division do the MN Vikings play in? It's the NFC north but no one refers to it as the NFC Central. No one says that the Vikings play in the "Western Conference".... They play in the NFC. Call it what you want but the name has changed and the NCAA, affiliated schools and media largely do not use the term D1-AA anymore. DaveK will soon come around... If he doesn't..... well people will think think he's off his rocker (if they don't already).
  8. The game was a near sell out last year without the hype of he new coach. There might be more people this year but it will not be primarily due to Brewster. I think that more people are now aware of the matchup and the gopher fans will actually show up this time. Brewster will be a distant third as a reason why people go to the game.
  9. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=166630 Looks like Maturi is all about playing 1 regional FCS team each year. It's all about the Benjamins and he knows that doing this will put butts in the seats. Looks good for the UxD and xDSU's
  10. I love reading all the speculation on this board.... Instead of pretending to be somewhat objective, the majority of the posters on this board have decided to blame Chapman. You will take your distain for NDSU and assume that Chapman is totally at fault...even though the facts are not clear and the reporting has been decidedly one sided (not due to the Forum but due to available information). The article in the Forum (and subsequent letter that the Forum published) do nothing but portray the side of Dunn and the board. The real facts will never be known but that won't stop most of you from running your mouth about things that are nothing more than he said/she said.... These are the things that I know about Chapman: 1. He has improved the school academically since his arrival 2. He has successfully transitioned NDSU to a Division 1 university without asking for tax payer or student money 3. He continually fights with the SBoHE and the Legislature to get fair funding for his university He has an agenda. He wants to improve NDSU and whether he plays nice in the sandbox or not is not an indication of his character, morals or ability. You can say what you want about him. The good news is that NDSU, it's fans/alumni and most of all Chapman could care less what you think about his or his methods.
  11. Just stating the facts. You make light of an "ignorant" Bison fan and then spew stuff that makes you look the fool. Yes, the Sioux did have the first Division 1 team... No one is disputing that. Your point? See the thing that i've noticed with you is that when you get criticized all you do is bring up stuff that doesn't matter (like Weird Al and being the first D1 sport). We know this already. Bring something new to the conversation.
  12. I was making reference to teams you play. You made reference to sports NDSU isn't involved with. Apples to Oranges if you ask me. I'll make sure to take pictures at Indiana State. I will also take some at the Metrodome. Make sure and send me one from Crookston.
  13. Your point? Since when is Men's and Women's swimming "marquee". The only sport that we have going on right now with national championship implications is wrestling. NDSU is sending 3 to the national tournament. Bisonville is slow on sports.... All we can talk about is our upcoming Mid-Con and Gateway schedules..... Meanwhile your "marquee sports" (outside of hockey) are competing for d2 crowns. Congrats!
  14. I got your point about being ignorant. Unfortunately, you were the one without a clue. I like following this board because the comedic qualities of this board are outstanding. You can troll Bisonville if you want to. Maybe you can talk up your games next year versus Mesa or Mayville State.
  15. Exactly.... That is your "theory". If the Sioux Men's basketball made it to the NCAA tournament it would certainly be bigger news than the Sioux hockey team. Sioux Hockey fans would be happy that they made it to the Frozen Four but everyone else in the state who (read as majority of the state) would be far more interested in the basketball team. I know that you dislike basketball and you think that hockey is king (and it may be for you) but for the rest of the state and nation that is not the case. I know that this has been hashed over and over again but in the end I can pretty much guarantee that there were more North Dakotans watching (or following) the NCAA tournament than the Frozen Four.
  16. Again... Hockey is popular because it's the only taste of "big time" competition the greater state of North Dakota has had. If given the chance (just like the rest of the nation) Men's Basketball would reign supreme. All it will take is one of the local teams to make it to the NCAA tourney. In NDSU's case that is as easy as winning the Mid-Con tourney(which NDSU would already compete well at).
  17. I believe that FB has a 5 year probation and basketball has something around 8-10 years.... Not sure of the exact amount.
  18. What? NDSU did move up at the right time. Within a few years we were able to get conferences for all sports. That in and of itself speaks to it being the "right" time. If we would have moved up later than when we did we would still be stuck in independentville. That being said, we will find out in 3-5 years if UND moving up was at the right time. It can be argued that if UND would have taken the plunge with NDSU, we would likely have buddied up with UND to make it through transition as it's very logical with our close proximity. If UND finds conferences for all sports and they are not "stuck" then UND will have made the move at the "right" time. If UND struggles to find conferences then it is the wrong time.
  19. Cute story. Nice try at being witty. Hopefully next time you won't be put in a "Box"!
  20. My two cents... 1. There are usually stories about Sioux hockey because your success has impacts on the UofM. 2. I didn't see this article but I would assume it was in their "other colleges" section. They commonly refer to D2 teams news in both papers. NDSU coverage is there but only on game days (or when discussing our past or future football game).
  21. I could care less if we play again. The Nickel is the only thing that I would cherish having back. Even though the nickel makes me think we should play, the hatred against the Sioux and the Bison (respectively) makes me think that it's better if this rivalry doesn't exist anymore..... To SiouxMD... If you're against playing there is no reason to have the nickel as your avatar. It's time to retire it.
  22. This may be true. Can you tell me which UND administrators have contacted you (or the rest of the University for that matter) regarding their "inside information". While i'm as speculative as the next guy, claims of "inside information" that comes from someone who is: A: Not an administrator at UND B: Not involved with the UND athletic department or C: Not named Kupchella don't really hold too much water with me. Please don't spew this "inside information" as fact when it is clear that you are not "privy" to such "information".
  23. FACT: NDSU and UND had a long standing rivalry in all sports. NDSU decided to move all sports to D1 (D1-AA for football). Roger Thomas decided not only to NOT play NDSU in football (understandable by me) but in all other sports. It was a over reaction to a situation and while NDSU might have "ruined" the football rivalry (not intentionally... after all our D1 move was more than just about football), Thomas decided to ruin the rivalry IN ALL OTHER SPORTS. Nice Job Roger. DaveK, you can believe what you want but the facts are clear. Spinning it after all of these years only makes you look foolish.
  24. I appologize for lumping all UND fans in with DaveK. My bad. I would not want to be lumped into a category with LakesBison so I totally get it. Again... my bad. Also, i'm not complaining about Roger Thomas. He made a decision and he thought that was in the best interest of UND. I can't fault him for that. However, I can't sit back and have DaveK rip NDSU as if it's somehow NDSU's fault that we're no longer playing.
  25. Long time reader first time poster.... I agree. This subject is really boring and DaveK looks like an idiot once again... Let the flaming begin. DaveK says he doesn't need or care about playing NDSU ever again. bull$%!#! This is the same guy who rips NDSU and spews records in his signature line.... Dumbass.... Here's a few stats for you DaveK... Since 1970, NDSU is 20-15 over the Sioux. Here's another stat for you.... Since NDSU and UND joined the NCC the record is 27-28 against the Sioux. Sure, UND has had the upperhand over the past few years but in the end it's been a very even competition. Get over it. I love how you used the term "jump ship". It's perfect since d2 was slowly sinking. We didn't "run and hide". We didn't move up to "win back the nickel" We wanted to continue the rivalry with UND and Roger told us that he didn't want to play us in any sports (even those where the schollys were equal). His choice. Not ours. Now, UND is moving D1 in all sports and the complaining just won't stop from you guys.
