  1. That's what I like to hear some positive talk in what has been a couple of gray days for Sioux fans!
  2. DG, while I also believe that to be true we do not know that for sure. There also is the risk of having no NHL to play in next year.
  3. I would think that either Stafford or Murray will have to play center, nothing against Genoway but I do not see him as a first line center. Man no Sioux Hockey for 6 months this really SUCKS!

I have to say I could really careless what number he wears in the pros. I am still pretty pissed off about the way the season ended. I know it would be hard to turn down that kind of money but IMO he bailed on the team awfully quickly. I have to say in reading on POI where Ballard said he is not going to pursue turning pro early. I found that to be refreshing. Does that mean he won't leave this summer? No, but it gives me the impression of more loyalty to the program. Ballard was a higher pick than Parise and is at least very close to Parise in talent. As much as I dislike Ballard I have to give him props on this one.
  5. I know this is early speculation but who replaces Parise on the top line next year and centers Bo and Murray. I think those two will stay on the top line. Genoway? Zajac, I know he is talented but that is a lot to put on the shoulders of a frosh. Will Blais try and get another late recruit to play center on the 4th line? We have a BIG hole to fill. It is still SO frusturating to think we lost to Denver, one of the most frusturating games I have ever watched.
  6. The Sioux will be fine next year assuming no more departures at all positions but center. Genoway, McMahon and Zajac are the only centers slated to be on the roster, we are going to be thin at center.

    Parise's Rank

Go home Basil, the season is over.
  8. I am kind of surprised that a guy with the competitive drive of Parise would want to go out with that loss to Denver. I do remember him saying though that winning the gold at the WJ was more important than winning a NC at UND, which I can understand since you are playing for your country rather than a university. That is a lot of money to turn down, let's hope we DO NOT lose anyone else.
  9. As a 6th round pick and a cash strapped Penguins team, I doubt Pittsburgh has any interest in signing Schneider at this point. He had an average year in my opinion. Part of that is probably due to playing w/ Smaby/Bina rather than Hale, quite a difference there. Schneider will be here.
  10. I do not think anyone is bagging on Zach. As a Sioux fan I am disappointed, I am not a NJ Devils fan, I am a Sioux fan. Given the abrupt and unexpected ending to the season this is bad news for the Sioux. I really expected he would be back next year. That being said as everyone knows one player does not make a team and who knows maybe the Sioux will be more of a team next year and that will be the difference in reaching the frozen four.
  11. Based on Stafford missing a wide open net in the Denver game he better work on his shot and stay in school rather than opt in. I do not think anyone else will leave. The Devils wanted Zach for their Cup run, Greene would not help Edmonton in the playoffs, I would say he will be back.
  12. I agree 100% DG, next year's team really had the chance to be something special . Not that it still can't be w/out Parise. I was really confident we would win a NC before Zach left and not having that happen makes this sting as a Sioux fan.
  13. Looks like Zajac will have to be the number one center next year as a freshman. This obviously puts a big whole in the lineup
  14. I can agree with that PCM, as a fan it would have been a lot easier to swallow if we would have at least made it to Boston.
  15. If he thinks he was mugged and clutched and grabbed in college wait until he gets a taste of the NHL. Guys are way bigger and he had trouble sometimes in the corners against college d. I am sure the $ is what made the decision.
  16. This is the part about college sports that I hate but it is the reality of it. Not exactly stirring success during the Parise era, one NCAA win vs Holy Cross. It is pretty frusturating. IMO we are better off w/ a player like Panzer who is going to be around for 4 years than a player like Parise who is going to bolt after two years.
  17. Excellent point Dagies, Like Blais says it is not about how the other team plays it is about how we play. Roll 4 lines 3 sets of d and Holy Cross will wear down midway through the 2nd.
  18. Wish I could be there, cheer loud give the boys that added boost.

    Travis Zajac

Good for him, I expect he will have a big impact next year. He will probably be the second line center replacing Lundbohm if (LET's HOPE) everyone is back. He is big, strong, good skater, and can put the puck in the net. Pretty good combination.
  20. If not the Sioux anyone but the Goofers, cannot take another year of their fans.
  21. This is a team the Sioux should thoroughly dominate. Just roll the 4 lines and the 3 d-pairs and we will be able to rest the top guys at the end of the game for Sat.
  22. I was in the club level in row 7, right in front of the standing room crowd. A guy behind me was yapping quite a bit we exchanged unpleasantries a few times but then we found out we went to the same high school and he did not direct his comments at me anymore. That is the only bad experience I had with the Goofer fans. The club level is more sane as it is easier to monitor problems. Skarperud was in the bathroom between periods of the Fri night game and some Goofer fans were really giving him s&!t. He did not back down though and the other couple of Sioux fans in there kind of joined in, lots of back and forth. That was the most disappointing part of the loss, to see those A#@hole fans gloat. I sure HOPE we get the last laugh!!!

    Matt Greene

I was not trying to imply that Greene is not NHL material. Only the most talented players leave college after 2 years and I would not put Greene in the class of the MOST talented players in the college game. Greene needs another year of seasoning and Blais will tell him that if he seeks his advice. Besides isn't there something to be said for trying to hang a banner before you bolt for the NHL, that is the bad part about college sports. I hate to admit it but I do say in that respect the Gopher players seem to have more loyalty to the program.

    High sticking

Yeah Fuher and Smaby were great. If Jones and Greene had played their normal game, it would have been a different story. Bina did not cover the front of the net on Potulny's goal and Schneider could not dig the puck out. That pairing was average at best as well. Taylor is the biggest goon of all the Goofers, I cannot stand him. Vanek is just plain lazy, even the Goofer fans sitting by me were constantly yellin at Vankek to move his feet. Parise is the better player and you won't find many arguments even from Goofer fans after this weekend.

    Matt Greene

I agree that Greene has made good strides since last season but he will be in the AHL if he leaves after this year. It is a much bigger transition to the NHL than even these players realize. Edmonton is a financially strapped team so they will not be throwing out big bonuses.
