  1. 43 shots on goal! Holy cow! Tonight the luck will turn the Sioux's way. If we all think positive we can make it happen! Well maybe not, but if I tell myself that I'll feel better.
  2. Anything to put that fire in their bellies. Maybe it's the UMtc jersey pop or the MT loud mouth fan(s?). Either way, it's fun to see them play with that chip on their shoulder.
  3. Boosh for Hobey.
  4. Do you know what the cost is to view the video feed? Thanks!
  5. C'mon, Diggler, let's see some love for my boy Jim Rhodes!
  6. Nice to see that the team doesn't have to travel to Anchorage this year. That trip seems to be tough on them.
  7. We just saw him at the "Sioux-per Sunday" event. No arm slings or anything to indicate that he had surgery. Seems like you'd need some protection only 6 days after surgery, right? In other words, I'm guessing he hasn't had surgery yet.
  8. As far as the games against Bemidji state, is this another home & home series? From you post, I take it that both games will be played at the Ralph.
  9. Did you mean to say that Finley wasn't there? If not, did anyone indicate where he was? Thanks for any info!
  10. Unfortunately I can't make it tonight and was really bummed out until now... My wife (a teacher in Thief River Falls) received notice about a kids' event to be held at the Ralph on Sunday, April 29th. She said it would be held from 1-3 PM and would include lots of games with the players and an autograph session. It's geared towards pre-K through middle school aged kids. Since I've got a couple of hockey nuts aged 6 & 9 this works out great for me. Those of you without kids may need to "borrow" some to attend. No info on fightingsioux.com yet and I haven't seen the flier myself so I'm just posting what my wife relayed to me. Hopefully we'll see more information in the near future.
  11. Glad you brought this back up. I recently joined and missed it the first time around. I put down "The tradition that has been created", but in all honesty it's the tradition my dad created for me. He was going to games back in the 50's and kept going regularly through the 80's. Every game he took me to was a fantastic event. Every game I go to (and watch on TV) brings back the old excitement that I felt when I was a kid. Now I've got 4 season tickets so my wife & I can bring our daughters to the games, hoping to pass on the tradition. They're pretty passionate about it. My six year old likes to give her friends a hard time if they cheer for the "goofers". My nine year old's teacher is a Gopher fan so she insisted on wearing her jersey to school after the West Regional final.
  12. Help! Is there a live video feed? Where is it? Can you send a link?
  13. In Don's defense (okay don't shoot me) didn't he make some comment last year after the loss that while this loss was tough for the Gophers it was good for college hockey, in general? Something to the effect of, it's nice to see some semblance of parity where even the "less competitive" teams can win. I thought I remember hearing that or reading that. I thought that was a pretty stand-up thing to say considering how hard it was on him and his team.
  14. Choyt3's right. He's a VP at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls. Good guy and, best of all, he bleeds green!
  15. I think they were all watching the game live and the TV was off so he wasn't interrupting anyone's viewing, just wanting to check the score.
  16. You have to keep in mind that Duncan's family are massive Sioux supporters. His dad & uncle (Tim Delmore) both played for the Sioux so there's a lot of loyalty to the program. So much loyalty, in fact, that his folks fly down from Calgary for nearly every home game. Side story, my buddy is a friend of Delmore's from Thief River Falls and he was invited to sit in their suite at a game. Well, my buddy's a big Gopher fan so he tried to catch part of the Gopher game on FSN. The guys in the suite made him shut it off. That's loyalty!
  17. Nice! I'll get off my duff and contact them.
  18. I read an article in ESPN the magazine a few years back about guys leaving college early to go pro. It came out soon after Matt Leinert decided to stay at USC for his senior year. Every football player interviewed had left college early to play in the NFL and they all wished they had stuck around at college for at least another year. It wasn't that they didn't think they were ready for the NFL, it was more that they thought the pro experience was a lot less fun than college. They left an atmosphere of team spirit and camaraderie for a job. I certainly undertand our boys wanting to leave early for a big paycheck but I wonder if their experience will match those of the football players in the article?
  19. I'm not sure about best but I met one Wisconsin fan that was the most creatively dressed. Red & White striped bib overalls with a Badger logo. My wife thought they were the ugliest things she'd ever seen, I wanted to know if I could find some in green & white.
  20. Someone stated this before and I think it's worth repeating, I think we were all a bit spoiled by Oshie's awesome play last year. It's easy to draw comparisons between Forney & Oshie: both were from MN section 8A and both led their respective teams to state playoffs. It's pretty clear that they're not the same type of player, though. Forney's finesse and Oshie works his but off. Anyway, I, too, hope that he has an awesome sophomore season. Expectations are high.
  21. As I mentioned in another thread, Jay Forney (Mike's dad) told me that he was scheduled to have off-season shoulder surgery. Hak told Forney that he should be playing on one of the scoring lines (1 or 2) not one of the checking lines. Guess we'll see how this plays out next year.
  22. Nice to see some production from Porter and the 2nd line last night! I spoke with Michael Forney's dad, Jay, last night (after TRF lost to Warroad, doh!). Sounds like Michael will be having shoulder surgery in the off season. Hak told him that he should be on the 1st & 2nd line not on one of the checking lines but there was no room for him at the moment. Sounds like practice is going well for him but he can't take many hits. Sounds like they would have liked to have him get surgery earlier but they're so thin at forward they felt like they needed to keep him around in case of injuries. Hopefully we'll see a jump in production next year. FWIW I asked Jay if he had any insight on Oshie leaving. His only reply was, "TJ loves college". Hopefully that's a good sign. I then mentioned that I figured Toews would be gone for sure, and he said that he wasn't so sure about that. Still seems like a long shot to keep him, but maybe the faintest glimmer of hope. Heck, Jack Johnson played two years of college hockey after being a 3rd overall pick, maybe we'll get lucky with Jonny, too.
