I'm betting that he probably had talked to people about being part of a potential staff when he was named a finalist at the very latest, so he may very well have most of his staff verbally retained. I'm kind of curious if some of the coaches who applied for the HC job actually could be in the pool of assistant coaches, and maybe they threw their hat in the ring to get their names out there. Thinking some of the d2 coaches and the like. I'd really like to see Todd Hoffner on the staff. Not sure if he'd be willing to come in at anything under coordinator, but maybe to get back in the game he would.

Alright - let the speculation begin. Anyone have any names as possibilities they'd like to throw out?

Makes sense - low on WRs now so I would assume we may be somewhat attractive option.

I would say the WRs will be McGill, Young, Carr and Ivery. I'm really hoping that Carr decides to tough it out - within the next two years he will be the man and he has so much potential to be everything that a Hardin/Dressler was.

RB offerree Drew Patterson has comitted to Western Illinois.

I guess the main disappointments I would have if Bubba or DeBoer (my gut says Deboer by the way) is that they should have been hired on December 11th if it was going to be one of those two. Neither would really be sexy hires, but sometimes the non-sexy ones are the ones that surprise you and get the job done. I do have to wonder, with the potential salaries we could pay our assistants, if DeBoer would potentially be able to bring Bubba along as D Coordinator (or vice versa). I still like the potential of having Todd Hoffner as a potential OC though. Wonder if we would have DeBoer as HC, Bubba as DC and Hoffner as OC? Thoughts on that lineup?

Part of me wondered if Faison's guy was waiting to see about the NDSU job and now that it's filled he can move forward. Can't dismiss that as a possibility I wouldn't think.

I think it was shoulder surgery. Didn't sound too terribly serious. But I may be remembering wrong.

I also think that AJ Stockwell will get some playing time this year. Brandon Miller and Dan Bell may also be in the mix.

NDSU's next coach will more than likely be Klieman or Hazelton. Bohl will actually do really well at Wyoming, and have them near the top of the MWC in three years.

I like where this is going. At one point Wristen was the leader for the EMU job, but now it appears the EIU coach may be. If so, then maybe Wristen is the guy.

Don't really have time to look it up - was Bubba on the staff when Hoffner was a grad assistant? Wonder if Bubba comes in as HC whether Hoffner would come in as a coordinator. Might not be a bad thing. Still not sold on Bubba as what we need, although he would hopefully help shore up the defense.
