Wow! Saviano is a local fan favorite? All the other Hobey candidates should stop dreaming about the award right now. If being "relatively unheralded" is a qualification, then Zach Parise should forget about winning the Hobey. As college hockey players go, he's extremely heralded. I didn't know it was a disadvantage, but oh well... The problem is, when you help Team USA win its first ever gold medal at the World Juniors, are named tournament MVP, get drafted number-one by the Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils and help your team win the WCHA championship, it's just so darn tough not to be heralded. Zach should learn to follow Steve's example so that he can shed his much-heralded image. For example, the last time New Hampshire played two-time defending champion Minnesota, Steve had 0 goals and 0 assists. In stark contrast, Zach had 1 goal and 3 assists. By having a hand in all four Sioux goals against the Gophers, that little bit of showboating probably cost Parise the Hobey. Perhaps he will atone for that mistake by scoring on his own team this weekend. We can only hope.

The Holy Cross Crusaders vs. the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Isn't this game as anti-PC as it gets?

Because people are accustomed to checking the UND Web site for this type of information. We got the information from WDAZ before it came from UND. Well, since it WDAZ and UND know about it, I'd say it's safe to assume that Midcontinent has released some type of information about it. Do you think UND and WDAZ would say anything about the schedule if Midcontinent didn't okay it? If UND's games are shown, that's good enough for me. It would be nice to see some of the other playoff games, however.

I'm not trying to belittle the bad experiences anyone had at the Xcel Energy Center. I don't doubt that they happened. It also sounds as if the X could have used better crowd control. There is no excuse for fans to act like jerks or become violent. Perhaps as a result of this, we as Sioux fan can look in the mirror and put more effort into making certain that fans of visiting teams who visit Grand Forks, Engelstad Arena and the Alerus Center don't receive the same type of treatment.

This situation has nothing to do with WDAZ. It's entirely out of their hands. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the NCAA for being so shortsighted as to sell the rights of the games to a network that hardly anyone can watch. If the games are to be broadcast locally, it will be over Midcontinent cable. Direct your calls and e-mails to them. Beating up on WDAZ accomplishes nothing. In fact, those of us who watched the UND-UAA game last weekend should all be thanking WDAZ for broadcasting it.

Maybe the reason the Sioux lost to the Gophers was because they didn't take enough dumb penalties.

I tend to agree with Clayton, but I'm also the person who said that Brandt would play Friday and Parise would play Saturday. Shows you how much I know.
