Live from Joe DiMaggio's Restaurant in beautiful downtown Grand Forks. Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with Coach Dean Blais. Blais started the show by saying that he didn't want to do any talking because it's the playoffs and it would ruin his game face if he had to move his lips. After several embarrassing moments of silence, Tim and Swyg started talking about buying gifts for their wives. Swyg told some jokes he heard at Bonzers. They both agreed that taxes were too high in Grand Forks. Then they talked about the upcoming WCHA awards. Tim said that Parise was robbed last season when Vanek got rookie of the year. Swyg said that he thought Danny Irmen of the Gophers should win this year. There was a sound like an espresso machine running, but Tim noted that it was steam coming out of Dean's ears. They changed the subject to the Hobey Baker award. Tim said that Panzer was robbed in 2001. Swyg said that even though Zach Parise and Brandon Bochenski were good players, Keith Ballard deserved it more for playing on the back-to-back Minnesota championship teams. The sound of the espresso machine got louder and louder until there was an explosion. Following a minute or so of static, the regularly scheduled programming on Fox Sports Network came back on.

I imagine that somewhere in the Twin Cities, WPoS is wiping away a tear after all these loving testimonials.

I guess we're supposed to believe that a network called Fox Sports North would be making a huge mistake by broadcasting SPORTS that occur in the NORTH. I can see the network executives meeting now: "They expect us to broadcast a hockey playoff game live? WTF is up with our viewers, anyway?"

Perhaps it was announced earlier, but I've been listening to 1440AM for 10 minutes now and the coaches show isn't on. I assume that it's because Blais and the team are in the Twin Cities. Oh well, I tried.

I know this announcement was posted in another thread, but I thought it should be out where everyone can see it. According to this UND news release, WDAZ will carry the game live beginning at 2 p.m.

Do you really think UND was standing in the way of WDAZ broadcasting the game?

In 2000 when the Sioux lost a game to Denver in the WCHA best-of-three playoff series, many said it meant the Sioux wouldn't go far in the playoffs. They won the national championship. In 2001 when the Sioux dropped a game to Duluth in the playoffs, many said it meant the Sioux wouldn't go far in the playoffs. They went all the way to the national championship game and lost in overtime. Forgive me, WPoS, if I don't see the significance you attach to an overtime win against MTU after the Sioux swept the Huskies in two games.

I'm not sure I can agree with this. Jake and Isaac are tied in one statistical category and Jake is above him in the others. They went head-to-head in Duluth. Reichmuth gave up six goals. Brandt gave up two.

I would think that it would be easier to sell advertising if the game was broadcast statewide, but I don't know the logistics involved in doing that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

That's Glibert's opinion. Until the game is played, nobody has any idea if it's correct. Certainly UMD will test Minnesota's goalies and defense in a manner that SCSU couldn't. I'm just a bit surprised that the WCHA gave such prominence to an opinionated, hyperbole-filled piece of fluff. Thanks!

No, actually, it didn't. Brandt played well down the strectch. Not being able to score during the last third of the season was a far bigger problem than goaltending.
