not to be too big of an a$$, but the same back at you. Many people feel like the UND fans as you feel about the Gopher fans. As for bandwagon fans, I agree w/ sagard, it pretty much made POI what it is today, not as fun and more non-hockey related.... WPoS

like I said Squitcoach, this is just getting old..no one will win the arguement so why not just let it die? If all the problems in the world were only as simple as this deal, I'd feel a lot better... On to regionals! WPoS

so with this wonderful "home ice advantage" I keep hearing about, you'd think that we don't even have to play the games...because according to UND fans it is such a big part of the outcome it makes it a auto win for us... seeing as the Gophs don't win every game "at home", and other schools don't ALWAYS win when they play at home (both reg season and tourney), this arguement is meaningless and comes across as whining...give it up already! is there a reason the numbers don't add up to 100%? I don't have my gonk-ulator handy but they seem a bit off! WPoS

ok, not really drivel, but to point out a few things: 1. it is NOT restricted to Gopher Fans! why do I say that? Personal experience. I have been threatened at UW, I have been threatened at UMD. FHG was threatened at UMD. A person next to a UMN fan had a beer dumped on her head AT UMD. I have had friends spit on and cursed AT UND, JBSU and UW. So to try and paint the experience at the X as anything but typical is bad. It happens everywhere, the X makes it worse because of numbers and importance of the game is all, not because the locals are any worse than anywhere else. I am sure if and when I get up to UND I will have issues there. Is it good, no. But is it only one team that acts like this, no. That is why I get so frustrated when people paint ALL fans as the BAD fans because of some bad ones, as MNS said, as he has actually met me and some of the POI crew, the good fans don't pull that crap. Just as I have met some real nice UND fans. 2. I totally agree with the "Losing is no fun but when fans of the losing team are chased down, taunted and challenged to fist fights by the victors, that's beyond the pale." comment, but as I stated above, I've had it happen to me in UW and UMD, it is part of sports unfortunatly now-a-days it seems 3. how to fix this? Change society, IMO that is about the only way to make this behaviour go away. 4. Is it any worse for a losing fan? Depends IMO. I heard plenty of grumbling on the way out of the arena and plenty of talking FROM UND fans to Gopher fans, almost picking a fight. I think it is a matter of perspective, losing just emphasizes the issue in one's mind. End of ramble, I am hungry and my thoughts are dis-jointed (as usual) WPoS

if you want all hockey players to be angels...you'd be watching Disney figure skating! EVERY team has guys that take cheap shots, EVERY team, why do you think there are refs? Deal with it and move on, we've got Regionals to talk about! WPoS

actually I think you still would. It seems that all Gopher fans hate UND fans and swear at little children and pick fights... at least that what I see here. Actually, I had no problems with any Sioux fans except one, and even her HUSBAND was getting sick of her and telling her to be quiet and shut up. I let the Sioux cheer for their goals with out comments and didn't get any back when we scored (except chick noted above). So in my mind all this is a bunch of drivel. WPoS

I have refrained (wow! ) from posting on this subject on many boards...each team's fans can make excuses, each team's fans can spout off. The game is over and no amount of cheering/whining/flaming will change it... Drop the Puck! WPoS

anybody else think the bars (12 in the Cities I think will be able to show the games) are going to be PACKED since they WON'T have it hashed out by Saturday? WPoS

IMO, one of the "Big 5", four of whom are considered favorites, will get upset. Don't know who, but I'd almost be willing to put money down that someone will get upset. "Big 5" UND UMD UMN MAINE BC Considering the winner of the UMD/UMN bracket will take one of them out, I still think there will be one of the 5(4) out of it at the end... WPoS P.S. I figured you had the runts along, so missed out on gating. Did see ya that one game. I ended up missing yesterdays 3rd place game...someone had to watch the gating stuff...and drink beers of course! I have about 4 throwbacks at this point, so I may have thrown you off thte trail if you were looking for the one I wore on thursday. And I'll NEVER buy a Ford, Pontiac yes, Ford, never!
