  1. Being born and raised in North Dakota, and now living in Minnesota, Pawlenty is actually is a pretty good Governor, for Minnesota . He grew up in conservative South St Paul. On the other side of the political scale from Pawlenty, a PC Gov would not even have worn a jersey with the nickname on it. They despise the nickname and logo.
  2. Baggie is in Right Field.
  3. Twins and Gophers are talking 40-50,000 seat range.
  4. I agree with you about baseball in the metrodome. Besides the Vikings get the suite money for the Twins games thanks to Mike Lynn. I would vote for a U of M stadium or Twins stadium, but not Vikings.
  5. I voted outdoor as a personal preference, but indoor would be best for the economics of a northern school putting fans in the stands in November.
  6. USHL Attendance 3000-4000 attendance may be okay, they would probably have to add a women's team.
  7. What types of things does the average fan need? Just curious, I was at the game Sunday night and was thinking, why do the Vikings want a new stadium. It is great for home field advantage. They have the party going outside prior to the game. The Alerus is probably the right size for the current UND football following and creates a great home field advantage. The Fargodome was built for the future. With the population growth in the Fargo Metro area and the move to Divison I, there is room for the growth.
  8. Lambeau Field
  9. This is a link to Field Turf, which some consider safer than natural grass. Field Turf Link
  10. If Ed is moving up, hopefully that means he is moving out of ND.
  11. Schools with budgets 10% of the athletic budget of 'The' Ohio State University are able to compete at the Division I level in NCAA defined "Minor Sports", and remain in a different division in other sports. I guess it depends on what side of the fence you are one, as to what is considered "Watering Down". Ohio State's sport with the largest budget does not directly compete with most schools that are new to Division I, at least for NC's. Most of the new schools will compete at the I-AA level, if they have football at all. An Ohio State will almost always get the recruit over a Youngstown St, I-AA school etc. In hockey a Divison II school with Division I hockey can out recruit an Ohio State.
  12. So, are NDSU and UND etc, foolish for letting Division II be watered down? How could they have prevented the watering down. NDSU is moving to Divison I looking to accept and support the current Division I scholarship level. Northeasternwest Iowa Academy are moving to Division II and supporting a reduced scholarship movement.
  13. star2city, What you are saying is UND would be foolish to consider moving to Division I. If UND did make the move they would be watering down Division I.

    UND vs. UNO

I agree it's not the desired way to coach, but you percentage may be a little high. I have seen or heard of this many times. There are a lot of SOB's out there once you get out of North Dakota.

    UND vs. UNO

Although it is not the way I would end a game, what he did was not wrong. There is no rule saying a team can not pile on points. Steve Spurrier made a living on running up the score. I didn't like his style, but I can't say he was wrong. Just because I don't like it, doesn't make it wrong. UND may have the option some time to run up the score on UNO or show class by taking a knee as time runs out.
  16. Numbers from the Pioneer Press From what I've heard, NHL players can't become free agents until they are age 31. The only option younger players have is to hold-out.
  17. Minnesota went from 21 to 18 in 1973 18 to 19 in 1976. In 1986 the drinking age became 21. I think it was a Crookston recruiter that came to my High School in ND, and promoted the fact that you could have beer in your dorm room if you were of age.
  18. Thanks, and don't mind being the "guinea pigs". I think the big paydays will be the gravy. The athletic departement has a budget they want to work with that I think is realistic. From today's Forum, basketball also has a travel guarantees, as UNC will be getting.
  19. I realize the old cliche' "nothing is for sure, except death and taxes". With the way the cards are currently dealt, these money games are options. 10-20 years we may be able to see if the move was a good one or not.
  20. I found this article from a while back. That means 4 million for the other UND sports. From a Kolpack article in April it looks like Troy States budget is close to NDSU's this year. Troy State is a DI not I-AA in football.
  21. What percent is for hockey and what percent is for football? Does UND have a Teammakers type group that supports athletics? Just want to see what we are comparing?
  22. It may not be all an addition for women's sports, could be a cut in some men's sports too. Teammakers is one of the options for additional money for the scholarships. The presentations that I have seen look promising to raise the funds. Why do you think the money won't be there?
  23. Maybe two, NDSU 11/15 in Fargo.
