  1. Interesting perspective.
  2. UND is the only quality game they have had this year. Newberry defeated a NAIA team that is 0-4, 3-6 last year, and a fellow SAC team that is 2-3, 3-7 last year. Their offensive talent may have been good, but the whole team has to play. I have no problem with your opinion, I just have a different one. That doesn't make me wrong, and it doesn't make you wrong.
  3. Sorry, but I would classify Newberry as a "Poor Team". If you look at their schedule, they may not win again. They play Carson-Newman, Tusculum and Catawba the next three games. Probably finish anywhere from 4-6 to 2-8. Mesa St looks better than originally thought.
  4. IMO it won't be much different than Jeff Harlin's list. Winona St loss on the road keeps them above C-SP. 1. Pittsburg State 2. Central Missouri 3. North Dakota State 4. Nebraska-Omaha 5. Emporia State 6. North Dakota 7. Winona State 8. Northern State 9. Concordia-St. Paul 10. St. Cloud State
  5. New NCC member UM-Duluth got it handed to them by Northern St. Looks like Winona St and Concordia-St Paul are the top teams in the NSIC. It could be an off year for UMD, but if they finish in the middle of the pack with MSU-Moorhead. Does that mean Winona St, Concordia-StP and Northern St could be added to make a 10 team NCC? Another possibility would be to merge the conferences, having two divisions.
  6. I guess we writing about different definitions of "Common Person". Yours is above. I was trying to reflect on what the Herald article said people would not go to the game because of what the ticket prices meant to the average family. As I said before I do know people not going to the game because of the prices. They are some of the people included in your definition of "Common People"(Yearly Fans), and my definition of "Common People"(Average Income). Which by the way my statement of $20,000 per household was incorrect, your link had the actual figures. NewGuy: Good Point Typical
  7. If a household income is around $20,000, then it is an average income in the USA. That is my definition of a common(Average income) person. Upper income in the USA starts at around $45,000 per household. I used the word common in reference to this message: The people that are more willing to pay $27.50 per tickets, IMO are more likely to be in a higher income bracket. I know people that are around the average income level that are not going to pay $27.50 to go to the game. I also know some people making much more money that are going to pay the price and go to the game. More disposable income to spend on entertainment. I am sure there are exceptions to the rule, but that is how I see it.
  8. Because you said the Sioux football players would be carrying the fake nickel.
  9. And to watch the Bison carry the REAL nickel trophy!
  10. If a bill passes in South Dakota, would the SDSU Grad / Governor, Mike Rounds, veto the bill?
  11. I too believe the game will sellout, but not to the common person. $27.50 is a lot of money to the common person. And then if you take a family of four it adds up. Especially with concessions etc. I have been told the average income in the US is around $20,000 per year. To put the the $27.50 in perspective, you can see the Michigan Wolverines play the Gophers for $35.00 and $15.00 per ticket. If you can get a group of 15 or more the tickets are lowered to $25.00 and $10.00. Wisconsin is the only game with a solid $40.00 across the board.
  12. You are correct, you do not have to be nice to other schools or their fans.
  13. There is nothing wrong with your stance, Sicatoka. It's just different from the stance of the schools making the move to I-AA. I personally think if we waited for the NCC to decide on the move, it would take a very long time, if ever. Kind of like the USA waiting for France and Germany and the UN to support the War in Iraq. Like I said before, there is nothing wrong with remaining in Division II. "Wise" is a relative term, depending on which side of the debate you are coming from. The NCAA rules for a division I move are pretty strict right now, 5 year waiting period for most sports, 13 for basketball. They may get worse in 5-10 years, and make it almost impossible to move from Division II to Divison I.
  14. Todays Forum: Tough sell: SDSU move to D-1 has support, but not on Main Avenue This is the best statement I have read so far about SDSU's move:
  15. Has the decision already been made? UND staying in the NCC and remaining Division II is not a bad thing. Carr and Associates are consultants, not a governing body. I do think SDSU is gone from the NCC permanently.
  16. Concordia-St Paul is an up and coming school. They are already at the DII level in sports. I have noticed in recent years they have been getting some quality athletes from the metro area. They look like they could step up to the new NCC level.

  19. Coach Townsend resigned as head soccer coach shortly after the Division I announcement. That is the only coach I know of that did not want to go through with the Division I move. The other coaches I have met and talked with support the move.
  20. Here is a link to some I-AA talk on the subject: N. Colorado Coach not Happy with Move to I-AA
  21. Having paid high prices for sporting events, the $27.50 is reasonable. But to be fair in the comparison with hockey. If the hockey tickets were based on the same percentage as football they would be $35.00 per ticket.

It's good to see UND has some real fans like you UNDvince97-01. I feel the same way about the Bison. I have seen UND start out bad a few times and come back to have a strong NCC showing. Good luck except on October 18th.
  23. My apologies, I should have made the post as an FYI, so I would not have been misunderstood.
  24. FYI Michigan backed out of a Home/Home with Nebraska, that is how Troy State got on the schedule. Nebraska usually has a tough non-conference schedule.
  25. It is actually UC-Davis at 9194 fans per game, not Northridge. NCC average is 5594 NCC minus NDSU, UNC & SDSU 4644 Proposed conference 6217 I-AA Maine was on the Bison Schedule in 2001 prior to the 9/11 events. It may be a good idea for the schools to go their seperate ways for now. The time is right for NDSU to make the move. When and if UND decides to make the move, maybe they can renew the rivalry. The day may come when NDSU wins the I-AA championship and UND wins the Divison II championship in the same year.
