  1. Yep. Keep telling yourself that no one cares about the NHL and hockey. Look at the national ratings of that game last night, let alone the 62,000 NHL fans at the outdoor game. Yep, no one cares about hockey. By the way, UND basketball is superior than NDSU basketball and I would still be storming in anger too, if it was a UND basketball game that took precedence over the Hawks/Pens game in the surrounding, local area. NDSU vs Denver for a D1 basketball game is laughable. It was a joke that this was aired! Oh, wait, I forgot, Denver has such a large national presence for their basketball team. Denver has a basketball team, seriously? Nobody cares!
  2. You just don't just get it. And no, I am not pretedning this is an NFL playoff game being left off TV.
  3. I don't think it's dumb. This isn't Bison football, it was a Bison basketball game. No one outside of Fargo cares. Take your Yellow and Green glasses off and exit the Fargo area. People saying, everyone one should calm down, c'mon! You had two great NHL teams with the Blackhaws and Penquins (Toews vs Crosby, first game against each other) with a national televised game, at Soilder Field with 62,000 fans in attendace, under the lights. But, hey, go air that super-hyped, everyone in the region cares game, the Bison vs Denver basketball game. Oh, but it's the last game at the venue, blah, blah, blah. Absoultly horrible decison by KVLY. I seriously hope someone gets fired! Add fuel to the fire, once the game ended, they had that extra Senior night and coaching crap go on forever. Wow, was that embarrassing. I am a UND alum, and if this was UND basketball, I would be shaking my head.
  4. Yeah, because a useless D1 basketball team against two horrible teams is superior than Toews vs Crosby in an outdoor national NHL Game. KVLY is a joke. Whoever made that decision should be fired. I don't even want to hear an argument. Person should be fired! And I don't know what reality distoration field you live in, no one give a !@#$ about Bison/Denver men's basketball!
  5. What do Miami, BU, BC, Duluth, Denver, Wisconsin Yale, and Michigan have in common that we don't? They played in the national title game in recent times. I don't care about SJHovey posts and Goon backing it up - I realize we played Denver in '05 and that was the last time Denver won, but they won back-to-back, I will give that program some credit and leeway there. I don't care. I would rather have my team, UND that I cheer for, play in a national title game sooner than later. Conference season and post season championships are nice and Hak's overall record with the team the last 9 year is great too, but I want the team to compete and play in the national title game. At the end of the day, no one remembers their overall season record or what conference championship the team won. Fans will remember great times and experiences at the Final Five in recent years when the team won etc...., and who knows, they might win the NCHC regular season conference title this year. I don't care. Get to the title game for once and compete and if they win, great Bottom line, you compete for a National Title. Hak and his players the last 9 years would take a national title any day over Hak's overall winning record, regular and post conference tournament victories and championships/continued success. Please quit over analyzing things. Keep it simple. Win and/or compete in the national title game. Obviously we want UND to win that game. It's simple. You play for a National Title. That's what truly matters. Period.
  6. I'll give it three years. This year just make the tournament and see what happens. If the team doesn't fans will be disappointed, but it could happen. Hope it doesn't. Making the tourney and losing right away stinks, but having your team not make the tournament is worse. I like the fact of our d-core in the coming years. They should be solid. Also, some decent forwards are on their way and the team has another goalie coming in next year if Gothberg can't solidly the number one spot by next year, he's had his chances. With the loss of Tambelini who had the brightest ceiling for our freshman forwards, I'd say our forward recruiting class, again was a rather weak one. Plenty of great college hockey players out there. Hak is missing the boat on some. One more thing... Asumus, Stetcher, and Murphy weren't initially committed to UND. Question is, how well is the coaching staff doing in their job as far as recruiting goes? Question has to be asked.
  7. Barnes and Nobles will not be on that list. I know it's just a diagram to show what could be. This town needs a Trader Joes and more than anything needs to expand groceries and fast causal restaurants on 42nd. Development on the south of the town is needed, but that also applies to 42nd. You have tons of apartments and hotels going up. Also, development on 32nd needs to stop. It is the worst infrastructure while shopping or getting a bite to eat. I try to avoid that area on the weekends, but when one has to make a stop at Target, it is just a painful experience.
  8. Good thinh Rocco only turns 21 once. Horrible game by him. UND is going to regret losing this game when they were up. 3-1 into the second after a horrible first. This loss will haunt them.
  9. He'll stay. Why would he leave? He'll be playing with his brother and it's not like he'll be cracking the Blues roster right away. His main focus next year will be to add strength and completely dominate the college hockey game.
  10. Brock leaving UND hurt. Still bitter over that. That was tough to swallow. I wonder if he would have netted 40 goals had he decided to play his junior year. When he had 28 as a Sophomore he had so many chances and breakaways it was nuts. He probably should have had 35 goals as a Sophomore if he finished more on a few. :-) Setiously !
  11. I like that. North Dakota Tribe and slightly modify the Sioux logo. I could go with that. One could interrupt the word "tribe" to not be associated with an "Indian Tribe." :-)
  12. Late to the party, what's the tv schedule looking like for this weekend battle?
  13. Anyone watch the Minnesota and Ohio State outdoor game and/or recorded it? I would love to see a gif file created of Kyle Rau's embellishment penalty.
  14. You have to take into account the team and talent level too, though. Still I think Tambo would have had a good second half. Guess we'll never know.
  15. Someone should have told him see Brock Nelson and look at his first year at UND than look at his 2nd year at UND. Seemed to work out pretty well for Brock Nelson... Pretty much the same players entering UND, with Brock having a higher ceiling with potential and obviously lived up to it, once he put on weight and got stronger and learned the college game and how to compete against stronger and older players.
  16. Martain St. Louis might be picked. Played college hockey.
  17. I say bring in the older more experience players next year. UND should have a solid squad next year. Rocco would be foolish to leave for the AHL or Europe. Might as well enjoy his college years at UND and continue to develop. It sounds like Olson is the type of player UND could really benefit from next year. A gritty and skilled forward. Should be interesting next year. Still waiting to see what develops this year, come March...
  18. Who's to say that some of the Juniors now are safe to play every game as Seniors? That junior class has been pretty fortunate, one of the weakest recruiting classes in quite sometime. Bring in bodies next fall. Make them earn their ice time.
  19. The team showed promise tonight and that is a good sign. Chyzk, Tambo, Pattyn scoring is a good thing. Give those guys some confidence going forward. Once Mark Mac and St.Clair get healthy and get their form back, this team will have a better makeup. Not happy with the tie, but after watching the effort and compete level, I think the team is taking steps on improving. They'll start winning games playing like that. Really liked the Park, Chyzk, Pattyn line. They cycled the puck well and went to the net with the puck. OD looked great back in the lineup. Going forward the team needs to build in the scoring department. Mark Mac will have to get it rolling, Tambo and Chyzk need to continue to score here and there. Drake and Rocco, obviously will need to continue to lead there as well as OD. Last note, still need to work on the PP. They need to move the puck around with more speed. Also, the guys really need to focus (need laser focus) on making passes on the sticks instead of in the skates on the PP. I also wouldn't mind see the PP being worked down low more than up top every now to change it up. Our PP is too telegraphed.
  20. Sorry, Dave the Penguins will not be in the Finals in the spring. Here's to wishful thinking, though.
  21. 1) It's UND's system that causes lack of scoring. Off the glass and out for the breakout and then dump it in after gaining the redline. The coaching staff's theory is this, it's trying to reduce mistakes/turnovers etc that could lead to scoring chances for the opposition. Hak is known for this style, especially with freshman in the lineup as they need to "learn" and "adjust" to the college level. This style of play is always noticeable at the beginning of the year. Trying to keep the "risks" low while competing in the game with a probability of winning the game or keeping it close most nights. 2) With that said, the style of play is not a possession game. This is what frustrates me and Hak's style. A possession game is huge, see the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL. That's why the Hawks are so successful and tough to play against. To have a team that has the makeup to play a possession game you need speed and skilled players, especially on the bluneliine, a quick transition game. You might take some risks offensively here and there with a mistake that ends up in the back of your net, but last time I checked you have to score goals to win in hockey. It's a lot more fun to watch too. St. Cloud State moved the puck and transitioned better all weekend. You tell me what team was more exciting to watch this weekend. It sure wasn't UND...boring hockey. 3) UND hasn't had a good power play in years. This lies on the coaching staff. You need to find a player on the power play that can gain the zone. Dumping it in and chasing the puck is so ineffiecient. The gophers rarely dump the puck in on a power play. The best NHL teams rarely dump it in. Guys like Kane and Datsyuk are such an asset to their team because their skill and speed allows them to gain the zone on most attempts. Don't buy into this? The NHL is tracking statistical data on this. The ability to gain the zone with speed on the power play is huge! Not only is this crucial on the power play, but even 5-on-5 play. It generates more offensive. 4) UND's inability of scoring is also due to their past recruiting classes and skill sets. There's plenty of parity in college hockey and there's a lot of good college players out there. Not every recruit wants to go to UND and is going to be sold on the program, tradition, and it's facilities. We don't need to land every NHL draft prospect recruit too. Over the last 2-3 years, UND has struggled to find and recruit those good college players. Give them credit on finding Drake, that's a perfect example and great find. UND struggles on scoring because of their players ability and skill set. Mitch, Conner, Step, Derick, both coltyn's, and Chyzk all bring different elements to the team and play a role for the team. You need role players, however that's too much commonality in the lineup with these players and as a result they bring the same skill set to the lineup. They are not able to generate offense. The inability to score or become true scorers, especially at the college level hurts UND. I'm not throwing these players under the bus or claiming by all means they are terrible college players, I'm stating UND has too many players with the same skill set and what they bring to the table. This dispalys their lack of efficiency in generating offense. UND's forward recruits the past few years haven't been great, it's the harsh reality. That's why they can't score and generate more offense.
  22. Someone should get some highlights up from last night, please.
  23. Goon, a Nook is consider more of an ereader than tablet. To answers your questions, I'd probably say no.
