That org has a huge youth development issue too. If I’m Emery I enjoy my development time as long as possible at UND. He’s a good player no need to rush him to the NHL.

College players game imo seems more well rounded plus USA’s high end talent continues to evolve in the last decade+. I’d take Macklin Celebrini’s style and two way game over Conor Bedard any day. Kudos for Macklin playing 1 year of college puck. In add. I didn’t see a better defenseman on Canada’s team better than Biuum tonight, not even close. Wild got a great pick there. Cole Hutson has had a great tournament so far. Offensively gifted, Zeev has higher IQ and more tenacity plus better defensively too.

Some solid Little Caesars played in the 16 age tournament (forgot what it was called) I believe in Fargo last year. I’d be shocked if UND coaches aren’t aware of some kids currently on the Little Caesars team. Also, Ryan Kesler is a prick off ice too That is all.

Pretty crazy he didn’t get a sniff as a first round draft pick and also having an excellent first half of college hockey against physical mature and stronger young adults.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SiouxForever replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Next year: UND has to be careful on forwards that enter the transfer portal and what conference they’re coming from. Like Wilkie’s game. 5 pts. in the first half is about as low as you could have predicted…ouch! He did score this weekend. Hopefully, he can build off that for the 2nd half. Wts., UND loses a lot of sandpaper w/ Jammer, Kunz, Berg being gone. Why UND needs to do a better job on finding forwards (development wise) or portal. Defense, UND should be fine Imagine how good UND’s D-core could be this year w/ a healthy Zmolek? It’s a pretty young D-core. Zellers should be good next year and the Fargo Force D-man from Moorhead. Not sure who else is coming in next year… I highly doubt (never say never) UND sways any top Canadian Junior player to come to campus BUT hopefully they can find some overager forwards w/ skill and grit Teams gonna need it next year. -
No time to waste. BU, Michigan making moves. If you’re not first, you’re last.
-
McDonald might be back in the lineup, no?
-
Kunz is on pace for double digit goals. I’d say he’s trending his anticipated projection tbh.

What leadership? All the veterans are injured.

Where’s the pride?

The top team in the land visits the Ralph. Denver @ UND

So TJ warranted to start over Hobie? What has TJ shown? Not trying to rip a goalie with an injured back end, but 3 goals per game (like I said) isn’t going to cut it. UND is not going to win many games if they’re giving up 3 goals per game. -
2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

If healthy, UND could compete and potentially beat Denver. What concerns me the most lately at UND is the following: O Mac = O goals Wilkie = 1 Goal TJ S. = Not his fault, but is letting in 3 goals per game against good competition. UND isn’t going to score 4+ goals to win these games. Lack of continued production from USHL to college. I understand it’s a big jump but our USHL studs, minus Jackson Blake, are not developing enough (production wise) at UND. Sasha, Mac S (skating is a hurting at this level) are on a decent trajectory, would be nice to get a few more goals… Transfer portal - depending on it way too much annually for goalies and D-man. Have to do better recruiting, no reason you can’t find a goalie or D-‘man. Tons of players and parity, most blue chippers are forwards coming into college hockey minus Sanderson, Makar etc. over the last few years. Zeev Buium is really good but I don’t think most scouts had him putting up 50 points as freshman. Could say, UND’s Jake L. no one expected him to dominate points wise last year like he did. -
Buy out Bubba, give him a job in the alumni association. Time for a change. It’s time.

Denver looks great. Second youngest team in the country. Too many penalties for UND. UND not great on face-offs. UND NOT great on battles/puck protection -
2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SiouxForever replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Not that I expected the team to win a Natty, but if Berg is out long term, there goes the season. Team doesn’t have enough veteran punch with him out of the lineup. -
When is O Mac gonna get off the goose egg? Can’t have him go with no goals in the first half of the szn. Scoring has been spread out but this guy needs to get a few goals to get the monkey off his back. This is like his freshman year on repeat.

UND should go after Sam Dickinson. First round pick of the Sharks. Already won a championship won the London Knights. Doing well this year. Kid should play college hockey for 1-2 years next to refine his game against older competition.

He’s only played in one game so far this year? Geezus christmas. It’s November, he’s not playing this weekend and bringing him back in against a rival in the Denver series could be a challenge. Ugh, bring him back in 2nd half and bring a D in at semester time too. People mock how UND keeps bringing in a goalie in the transfer, but looking at how many D UND has brought in from the portal from Ty Farmer to Jandric and onward… Seems like we have a D-recruiting and measuring talent issue.
