I'm not sure where you stand on the issue, but if you passionately believe that the Fighting Sioux name and logo is something worth taking a stand on (on either side), any organization or hiring manager that would de-value your credentials based on this issue would not a fit for you from a career standpoint. Just follow your moral compass in terms of what you believe is right. You are entering the working world with a degree from one of the best schools in the country.

There was a good sized alumni gathering in downtown MPLS last night, I'll leave it at that. Trust me, it's "game on".
-
From very reliable sources, this game is happening. See 'yall in Cedar Falls. What an interesting and exciting time for Sioux athletics.

Best of luck to Coach Glas. Thank you for the many years of hard work and dedication to our university and this basketball program. I had a chance to meet the man, albeit briefly, but I came away with the impression that this guy is a class act through and through. That '90-'91 team was something special...I wonder how (or if) things may have turned out differently had the big lead held up against Virginia Union. Anyway, thanks for the memories, and best of luck in Cedar Falls. I'm not sure where you're headed with this, but if it's a shot at Buning, it's unwarranted. Change is the only certainty in life. Bollinger was a finalist for the AD job, was probably qualified, it didn't go his way, thus he took a leadership position elsewhere after reporting to the guy he was competing against. Seems like the natural order of things to me. As for Coach Glas, 18 years at the same job in this day and age is unheard of. Sometimes a situation just gets stale for everyone concerned, whether it takes 2 years or 20 years. Change for changes sake isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Who is your favorite Sioux hockey player and why?
Shawn-O replied to Prpichrocks_19's topic in Men's Hockey
Favorites from the Walsh Hall days: Parent, Davidson, Bobyck, Belfour, Baron, etc. Favorite Minnesota recruits from the Blaiser era: DeFauw, Armbrust, Henderson, Goehring -
While I would add Denver and possibly CC to the list of tradition-rich flagship schools, I basically agree with what you're saying.

More old time hockey. Is it October yet?
-
It's been beat to death, but it was the best weekend of college hockey I've had the chance to watch live, bar none. When Duncan and Oshie made it 2-0 over Michigan, that place was electric.

I was thinking the same thing. On another note, were the Sioux ever in the mix for the Sneep kid from Brainerd? For as high as he is on the list, I don't remember a lot of chatter about him. I believe he committed to BC.
-
I hear from a reliable source that the answer is no. Is that for certain? Again, no. But I just don't see him coming back.
-
This: plus this equals an interesting mix of people, and a road trip for the ages. We'll be there.

I thought I saw a Chipotle going in by University Station when I was up there for the regionals. Was that a mirage? The Chipotle website doesn't reference a GF location, so was I seeing things?

Gotta love those Western Canadian kids....McMahon, Prpich, Radke, etc......mean streaks a mile long.....
-
If Phil is showing up for this come November, as was discussed in another thread, I think I'll sit this one out. Thank you.

Agreed. Albert Einstein once said that "compound interest was the greatest wonder in the universe", or something along those lines. It's about time value of money, folks. Let's enjoy these guys while they're here.

As it turns out, our heroes travel across the pond to the UK, form a soccer team, and represent England in the 2004 World Cup. It says so here.
-
The possibilities here are pretty much endless.

I just e-mailed the clip to KFAN here in the cities....if there's anyone that will air it, it's Common Man and his producer Tenna-B, they love to have a good time at Dubay's expense. If the GF radio station was 1440AM, then we're already covered.

Amen. The Kessel bashing has gone way over the top, way beyond the Parise bashing of two or three years ago from the other direction. TJ will be in Milwaukee next week, Kessel will not. The opinion of some media talking heads won't change that.

I resemble that remark!! Nice to meet both of you at the tailgate!
-
Yes, I was experiencing the "shakes" for an hour or two.

Easier to park in the residential neighborhood on the other side of Columbia Road anyway. It's a faster out after the games.

There is...just...one...more thing.... GO SIOUX!!!!
-
RISE AND SHINE, SIOUX FANS!!! Today's the day we get to road trip it to REA. I'm like a kid on Christmas freaking morning right now. Left turn at County Road 30, right turn at I-94, catch the Dubay and Tim Hennessy radio progrum from the Long Haul, fire up the hair band music on the I-pod....roll into GF for a couple three four pregame cocktails, and it's off to the Ralph for a great night of hockey....and a couple three four post-game cocktails. See you all up there!!!

We saw Hak speak at the Gopher Blueline Lunch. He has developed a very polished approach in the P.R. department since taking the helm.
