Let's add the Hrkac Circus numbers to the discussion: '87 (48 games) T. Hrkac 46-70-116 B. Joyce 52-37- 89 S. Johnson 26-44- 70

You're talking about Fournier, right?

What you don't seem to understand is that no one here gives a tinker's damn whether you respect us or not. To be honest, I usually enjoy the postings of most of the Gopher fans that visit this board. With that said, why do you feel compelled to come over to a Sioux board and defend the Gophers? You should be basking in the glory of another Frozen Four appearance. This explains why most of the fans in the league can't stand you. It's not the coaches and players (Lucia seems like a class act, and the players I've seen on the Sunday night shows seem like good kids), it's fans like you. I figured that given your success this weekend, you could bite your tongue and keep garbage like this off this board. That was too much to ask.

Yes. I know a few people that will be rolling in around 3:30.

Best memories: Shooting pool with Eddie Belfour on a regular basis as a freshman in Walsh Hall. Buck pitchers on a Friday afternoon at the Spud, and standing in line in sub-zero weather at the Old Englestad not knowing we were watching history being written: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues...0005821987.html Hrkac Circus: 46-70-116? You've got to be kidding me!!!! 124 goals?? That's RIDICULOUS!! 40-8, National Champs? Best team ever.

Shouldn't be too difficult to find the feed at Senser's. I hope people plan on showing up, so we can reserve the big screen in the usual spot.

My contact at Ferris called back tonight, and he was told by his connection at Ferris Cable 7 that the game is being broadcast over C-band, which is the same way that the games from the REA are transmitted. For those of us in Minneapolis/St.Paul, that means the game will be available for viewing at Joe Senser's. Anyone want to volunteer to reserve a couple of tables? The test signals should start running about 3 pm CST, and I plan on getting there early to help the guy in the DJ booth find the feed.

Buffalo Wild Wings? DiMaggio's? Whitey's? I'm not sure.
-
Seems as though Hammy and Greyeagle are both logged in.

I'm working the Ferris State angle. I just called the radio home of Ferris State hockey, and spoke with the Bulldog hockey play-by-play guy. He is almost certain that Ferris Cable 7 is not producing this themselves, and are grabbing the feed from somewhere. He told me he would ask the guy over at Cable 7 about where the feed is coming from, and would call me back tomorrow. I'll keep you informed. Bottom line, if the transmission is via satellite, we'll all need to find a sports bar with a ten-foot dish. In my neck of the woods, that'd be Joe Senser's. When I told him that Grand Forks cable was not picking up the game, he sounded as disgusted as we all are. Stay tuned.

Yes. I also left a message at Ferris Cable 7, with the same question. I'll try again later this afternoon. BTW, it looks like they bit-stream FC7 at www.ferris.edu, but that would be a last resort. I doubt the site will handle the traffic we'd be talking about.

Does anyone know if the satelitte feed will be coming from the same coordinates as the Fighting Sioux network, if it is a satellite feed? I called Midcontinent, but I can't seem to get past the call center in Aberdeen. They said they would call back with that information after talking with the GF office, but I'm skeptical whether the call-back will ever come. Those of us in the Twin Cities need those coordinates to give to Senser's.

Here's how I think it will shake out. I'll be interested in seeing what all of you think. Northeast Region (Worcester, MA) (1) New Hampshire (2) Boston U (3) Harvard (4) MSU-Mankato Tough first-round matchup for the Wildcats, but with CC and Minnesota getting the #1 seeds out West, the first-round WCHA matchups need to be avoided. Heavy Beanpot flavor with BU-Harvard, which should ensure good attendance. East Region (Providence, RI) (1) Cornell (2) Boston College (3) Ohio State (4) St. Cloud State Cornell, being the stronger one-seed from the East draws the weaker of the #2 tier, at least according to PWR. Cornell and BC fans pack the house. Midwest Region (Ann Arbor, MI) (1) Colorado College (2) Maine (3) Michigan (4) MAAC Winner Looking at this draw, I wouldn't like Michigan's chances of getting out of Yost. Then again, that's what we thought about Denver last season. West Region (Minneapolis, MN) (1) Minnesota (2) Ferris State (3) North Dakota (4) Wayne State Goofs earn the #1 with the Saturday night win at the X. No empty seats at Mariucci this weekend.....last one out of Grand Forks, hit the lights and check the thermostat. Stub and Herbs, Sally's, this is your dream bracket. There's my two cents. The underlying assumption: put as many rear-ends in the seats as possible at all sites. Your impressions......... Finally, GO SIOUX!!!!

UND should be in good shape under this scenario. In a head-to head "ro-sham-bo" situation, RPI will be used to break the tie. UND's RPI is ahead of both Providence and SCSU in the scenarios I ran. Also, the weighting of "quality wins" is an X factor. The neutral-site win over Michigan in October might end up being the difference between a #3 and #4 seed. MavsFan, I agree 100%. If SCSU went to the tournament at MSU-M's expense, the whole damn thing should be blown up, and something more subjective like the NCAA hoops selection method should be implemented.
-
The selection show is on ESPN, at 5:00 CST. The Sioux going east seems to be the conventional wisdom right now. If by some quirk of fate Minnesota wins the Final 5, CC could get shipped to Ann Arbor, with UND getting the #3 seed at MaryHoochie.
-
The Sioux got outplayed big time in the third period, and deserved to lose. The silver lining is, they're goin' to the dance anyway.
-
Call me old-fashioned, but I always liked the old reading the newspaper routine (I thought I saw a few students doing this at the DU series). However, to make this effective you need to achieve critical mass.
-
Bertibm: As a Sioux fan and a frequent lurker on POI, I disagree. Pro-UND posters have been virtually non-existent since..oh..about January. Whether that's a by-product of the Sioux-Gophers only playing once, a reflection of the standings, fallout from the U2Bad fiasco, or some other phenomena, your guess is as good as mine. BTW...Congratulations to Vanek. Either player would have been a great choice.
-
Here's a new Pairwise play toy, brought to you by USCHO. It's entitled "You Are the Committee". It even allows us to speculate on the mysterious "quality win" weighting. Combine this with Jim Dahl's WCHA What-If tool, and we might have a Nobel Prize winner. http://www.uscho.com/rankings/yatc.php

These goals probably weren't the most crucial of the season, but are very memorable, at least in my mind. Let's jump in the way-back machine to the Friday night Niagara game. The Sioux spotted them a 2-0 lead with a lackluster, flat first period. Uh-oh, this looks familiar. Same s@#t, different season. Time for someone to step up. Enter seniors Spiewak and Notermann. Those two short-handed goals 14 seconds apart set the tone for the night, the series, and arguably the long homestand that followed. When Notermann potted that second goal, the student section lifted the lid off that place!
-
Agreed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the field is reseeded for the Final 5. The Sioux would get bumped up to a Friday night tilt against the Gophers, with Wisco and Duluth in the play-in. I knew there was a reason we gave a s&*t about fourth place! Predictions: All home teams advance, with Duluth and the Sioux needing Sunday night to do it, and the RubeIdiot pulls into the garage in the Twin Cities roughly 2 a.m Monday morning with little or no voice left.
-
Well, folks......After the events over the weekend, I thought it might be interesting to bump this thread back up. To quote Mr. Sakamoto from "Gung Ho": "COUNT REVISION!!" CC 28 41 UND 28 36 UMN 28 36 Mankato 28 35 SCSU 28 33 Denver 28 29 UMD 28 29 MTech 28 20 UW 28 15 AA 28 6 Assumptions: Sioux split in Mankato and Madison, and take care of business at REA against the 'dogs. Gophers split with SCCC, Duluth, take 3 points from Denver at home. Stay out of that fourth or fifth spot, and we'll be in good shape.
-
Internet feed is like bad AM radio tonight. FYI......anyone thinking about switching to the Denver feed, it's a subscription service.

Looks like the Subway Classic is being picked up on MidContinent Cable. Are any of you Sioux fans in the Twin Towns planning on heading to a Senser's location to watch our squad take on the hated Brown Bears?
