Well, thank goodness we are dropping our nickname to help solve these major problems with NCAA sports! Hey, we're doing OUR part, aren't we?

I remember February 22, 1980. We were on our way to the UND/Michigan game but we're trying to get updates on the USA/USSR Olympic game. At the old Ralph, they announced that the USA won and both teams and all fans celebrated! Then, UND took care of business and beat Michigan 5-2. I think they clinched the WCHA that night, but I don't exactly remember if that is true. Great day!

UND could never afford him and wouldn't even get him as a head coach. Not bad to shoot for the stars, but that is very unrealistic.

I'm just saying it is not a top level D-I championship. It's sub-level. It's a lower tier. I don't believe it is a legit D-I championship due to the fact that there are so many FBS schools that play at a higher level. Why would I say that a team like this wins a D-I championship? It's foolish.

Actually, if you read the posts a lot of people agree with me. It is a championship. It'll be a good thing. But, to call it an honest to go top level D-I championship is just foolish. It is a lower tier championship.

OMG! I agree with DaveK! Yeah, I will say the same thing. Not a real D-I championship. I'm not saying it won't be a cool thing to happen, but not the same level as a legit D-I championship.

Also, why in the heck are they playing this game in a soccer stadium? A real D-I championship should be played in a real football stadium. Again, not a true D-I championship. Just a lower tier championship.

Of course, but FCS is still the lower end of the spectrum. Kind of the runner up division. Off lesser importance. Division I in name only. The real top national championship is between 'Bama and LSU. Not NDSU and the Sam Austin Broncos or whoever they are playing.

Nope. DI Football Championship SUBDIVISION Champions. (Which is saying, not really D-I champions...) Remember when Wyoming was 4-8 a few years ago. A bad FBS team. Remember which #1 ranked FC subdivision team they beat? Why, it was the Bison. It was one of their four wins that year. Close, but no cigar for the Herd. Hey, I'm cheering NDSU. But, they aren't winning a real D-I championship. That's the 'Bama/LSU game.

Hey, when UND wins their FCS championship, I'm not going to run around and claim that they won a legitimate, no doubt about it D-I football championship. I'll be happy. But, it is what it is!

Oh yeah. Without including ALL D-I schools in the playoffs, I would have to say that NDSU is playing for an illegitimate title.

Or better yet, maybe the Toledo Mudhens can have a trophy that says: World Champions * *with the exception of all those MLB teams better than us.

How about a trophy that says: D-I National Champions* * except for those many FBS teams that are also D-I but a heck of a lot better than us.

I sound dumb? Do you actually believe that it's a legitimate D-I championship if there is a college football level higher than the winner of the "D-I Championship" trophy? C'mon. You are being incredibly naive. NDSU may win that trophy, but they won't be the top college football team in the nation. When UND won their 7 national championships, they were crowned the top college hockey team in the country. True D-I champions.

It was a division II championship. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with a FCS championship either. But, it's not the highest level of competition. It's not a true D-I championship. It's a lower tier championship.

You could. If you were really lousy at making arguments! I think I'd take LSU or 'Bama over either of those teams any day of the week. As stupid as the BCS system is, one of those schools is going to be the national champion of college football at the top level. Not the Bison or the Toaded Beavers or whatever Sam Houston is called.

Yes, I would. Also, I will be cheering (If I watch the game) NDSU. But, I do know the difference between top level of competition and tier II competition. Not my fault if I understand the truth.
