    Finished it for you.

Nice try. Very few people outside of GF and the Ralph care much about College Hockey in North Dakota. Maybe the TV contract will prove that. NDSU gets $1.2 million just for a 3-year TV only contract for just football, and there are only 9 or 10 games a year. The last UND contract if I remember correctly was $1 million for 5 years for all UND sports. We will see what kind of bidding war occurs for UND hockey. Maybe I will be proven wrong.

Very well possible there will be a major announcement this week.  But FBS play wouldn't start til 2020, as Idaho has dropped a couple of FBS games with Nevada for that time frame, but still hasn't cancelled FBS games after 2019.  Looks like Idaho will be FCS for two seasons in '18 and '19.

Wichita St and UTRGV  could well be invited too, as they need an invite soon to get their FBS plans going.  2020 is not too soon, but 2018 is.  That will give more time for Big Sky schools to prepare.

Would be be nice to see Omaha and Denver to jump to the WAC for 2018. All the west coast WAC schools can go to the Big Sky then.

This post will bring in an exorbitant number of trolls, but then again, trolls hate the idea a of UND doing something before them.

My guess is Idaho is cancelling just their FBS games for the first couple of years thinking there wil be a complete overhaul of CFB by 2020. There is no intention of the WAC/BSC being the sixth G5 conference. If anything, they are hoping to be joining the 2nd tier of CFB with the G5 schools and the top 3 or 4 FCS conferences.

Source?  (and don't find one guy who posted smack that he wants them to lose by 30).

Most knowledgable fans knew they were going to be way down, hence their preseason ranking in Big 12 that year.

Where are the posts saying prior to the game thae K-State was going to have their hands full with NDSU? I know there were lots of comments after the game about how terrible K-State was and how they would be lucky to win 2 games, but I don't think there were many before the game.

Literally nobody though that, nice try.  They lost what, 17 starters from the year before?  Were a shell of the previous team.

Well they returned 11 starters including their entire o-line, which most considered the best in the Big 12, and they ended up 8-5 and beat Michigan 31-14 in a bowl game, but who wants facts. You don't need facts or sources when bashing the Bison. I work with Sioux fans that didn't think NDSU could keep the deficit under 20.

I took a tour of The Ralph a couple of weeks ago.  I've been to plenty of games, but that was my first tour.

FU fans, you should take the tour.  Once you are done, you will fully understand why UND is one of, if not the top college choice for NHL management.  And it will continue to be.

And why UND football will always play second fiddle to UND hockey... And NDSU football...

One of you whiny bison fans said something about a UND fan on BV so I thought I'd check it out. Then I saw the thread about Iowa so I thought it would be a good idea to poke my eyeballs out.

UND posters don't last long on BV before they are banned so I think this site should do the same so we won't have to read through all your garble.

BV represents your fan base so of course I group you with all those other sheep.

Those tiny fraction of Bison FB fans are like the UND Hockey fans that think they can beat an NHL team. 99% of Bison fans know it will take an extremely well played game to beat Iowa, but it could happen. I am sure you are one that thought Kansas State would rout NDSU.

Lol...that is what you took from the article?

You obviously didn't watch UND last year as their offense was actually very structured for once, with some secondary plays off the initial ball screen or weave.   Very few teams were as boring as NDSU last year.  That was small ball at its peak.

No, I didn't see the article. I actually got that from an interview Moody had with Jack Michaels on 740 The Fan. You should listen to it. It is most likely podcast.

You may expect him to but he wouldn't do it.

When you don't report on everything going on with the players on the team, is it realistic to expect him to report on players not on the team.

What are you implying? Enlighten us.

I get where you are going with this, and I'm not going to imply you are completely wrong, with the paper trying to show some bias towards a local program. But in trying to be "the voice of reason" you must realize that it is a little rich coming from a Bison fan. I'm not saying there aren't times that the Forum can't be critical of the Bison, but in looking at the big picture, The Forum can be just as bias in favor of the Bison, and the Herald can be just as critical. We've certainly seen articles in the past 10 years questioning certain players and coaches beyond just football, in Grand Forks.

Like I said, your overall point makes sense, just make sure when you are making it, that you acknowledge you are on the oppositions website, and that type of criticism will be flipped back to you and your team. Which is more than just given how Fargo can operate so similar to Grand Forks.

In this case, I tend to believe kids are dismissed from the UND's program because they knew what the coaching staff's expectation were and chose not to follow them (In Meindel's case, I believe it was more than once). With incoming transfers, who have been let go from other teams due to being let go, I tend to think the coaches are giving them a second chance because of the value they can bring to the team; while setting a knew set of expectations for that kid. Meaning if Mercer screws up, there may not be another chance. I think we all know each situation has a different set of circumstances, and they all need to be addressed in an appropriate manner. Whether it is Football, Basketball, Hockey, Bison, Sioux, Bubba, Berry, Klieman, etc.

I get your point, and I would expect Kolpack to mention why a player was tranferring into NDSU no matter what the reason. Shame on him if he wouldn't.

No doubt.  I think McDipsh*t has wrote five straight articles & blogs, all defending Brescani/NDSU.  Going out of his way to defend him.

McFeely has been critical of both Brescani and Chapman plenty, but if the SBOHE gives a president a VERY favorable performance evaluation, why not renew his contract. I don't care if you fire him or not, but have the guts to give him a negative review and tell him he is done at the end of his contract. That is what he is saying. Has anybody at the Herald written a story about how badly UND has handled the whole nickname fiasco?

He could've been booted off for being late for a meeting or weight training. Not exactly a crime but perhaps against "core values"

But don't you think it was odd that there was no mention of why the Texas State player was transfering but it was mentioned that the punter was looking to play at a higher level of football? I am making more of a comment about the Herald reporting more than the kid. They go out of their way to not make any waves with UND.

  12. 13 hours ago, UNDBIZ said:

Minor enough to not make the papers.

That is because it is the Herald. If you read the column about to two incoming transfers, you wouldn't have a clur the Texas State player was booted off his team, which seems like a pretty big detail to leave out. The Herald sportwriters are as The Common Man would put "Bubba Bobos".

Yeah, there were some upset bison fans on twitter. They were not happy with the coaching staff for not not going after this kid; sounds like his family had some ties to NDSU. Hope he can turn into a stud for UND. I'm still not a fan of Jones (yet), but last season was a nice step in the right direction. If he can carry that momentum into this season, I'll give him a little more leeway. Crandall needs to step up big this season.Played well last year, but needs to become dominant the way that Hooker did.

I am a Bison fan that thought if they were going to get a ND kid this year it should be Moody, but I trust the NDSU coaching staff. It sounds like Jones did a good job of selling the fact that they play an undisciplined run and gun game that kids like and Moody didn't like the fact NDSU likes to actually play a half court offense and get it inside at times, Jones's problem is not  getting talented kids on campus, it it developing them and getting them to play a team game once they get on campus.

I had several chances to go to Bison games last couple years - but I said no thanks

Good for you. I think fans from "rival" schools have no busines going to the the rivals games that their team isn't involved in.

  15. 2 hours ago, geaux_sioux said:

    They really aren't.

Try buying a ticket to a Bison game from NDSU after noon on Aug 1st, then go to the Alerus Sept 17th at kickoff time to buy a ticket for UND's home opener. Which ticket do you suppose would be possible to buy?

It makes a huge difference for the perception of the program. Each win is massively important in this rebuilding process. The FBS guys brought in by Bubba have all contributed even if they didn't stay till graduation.  It's better than throwing a true freshman out there before he's ready.

I am  not for playing true freshmen either. But maybe a redshirt freshman could have been out there gaining valuable experience instead of sitting behind a transfer who was only going to play in some cases 1 year. That experience a young player or players gets may result in an extra win or two when you are competitive and vying for playoff positioning.

Last three years? CB Alex Tillman (Houston) was great and WR Clive Georges (Arizona), if he stays healthy, could have a huge season in 2016. Even Jordan Hinojosa (Minnesota) was solid before he left. The lack of overall commitment to the UND program is the major downside with some FBS transfers, so I'll agree with you on that.

Siouxfan512 is right. I am not saying UND takes more transfers than a lot of FCS schools. I just don't think it is a good practice. I would guess that at least half of the FBS transfers end up leaving before their eligibility is up. That is not good for the program. And what difference does it make if you go 3-8 and 6-5 instead of 5-6 and 7-4? In the long run it is better to take your lumps with 4 and 5 year program kids, even if it means you lose a couple of extra games.

Braden Hanson and Alex Tillman seemed to work out pretty well. Some turn out, some don't, same as other recruits. It's not the way Bubba is working to build the program but sometimes it is what the staff feels is the best option.

NDSU will be relying on one at running back and punter this year.

I am not saying never take one, maybe one or two a year tops, but if you have 15 to 20 on your roster, it is too many. Frazier is a kid Klieman and NDSU were recruiting whenhe was in high school. They knew him from back then. Thet is a little different than taking a kid that was kicked off his previous schools team.

He is probably talking about Irvin-Sills.  Heard he is no longer on the team and was dismissed for whatever reason.

Not a huge loss as he never quite lived up to the hype.  Would have been good for depth, though.

And yet most on this board are begging for more FBS transfers to fill holes left by FBS transfers that either left or were kicked off the team. Anyboby seeing a trend and figuring out JUCO and FBS transfers are not the way to go? How many transfers have made significant contributions to UND FB the last 3 years? Would those scholarships have been beter utilized developing freshmen?

Well I do believe and maybe you are on to something. It will definitely take some divine intervention to make a WAC/BSC even a marginally successful.

WS is looking for a golden hand to invite them because they are------????   Special??????   If some conference doesnt drop their pants for them, even the thought of them restarting football goes in the toilet. IMO of course.

Come on. Which school in the right mind would turn down an invite from the powerful WAC/BSC FBS? Isn't it the dream of every school to play football against UTRGVU or Lamar or UND? There is no way WSU walks away from that offer.
