All the while we are going at it over guns and knives on the campus of UND, we are forgetting what they are really needed for. Gun are essential if the government ever needs to be brought down. If citizens are no longer able to use guns, then they are at the mercy of their government. That is exactly what the Founding Fathers did not want to happen; a tyrant of a government that the people had no defense against it.

I have already pointed out that the campus IS home for many students. A gun is a tool. If we ban guns, should ban nail-guns? Sledge hammers? After all, someone could get killed using those tools. We are forgetting that knives were also included in this thing. What if someone who likes to cook has a whole bunch of monster knives? Are they allowed? I have seen kitchen knives that would do more damage then hunting knives. A gun is a tool just like a knife, hammer, and hockey stick, among other things.

Well, considering we live a little ways out in the country, it would likely take them a little while to get there. And I am sure we would call them, should we have trouble. But they may not arrive in time. For many students, the campus is their home. And if guns are alright sometimes, who decides when and where they are not? It is a slippery slop we do not and should not need to go down.

YES! It would still be dumb and unconstitutional! VT had a gun ban and look what happened. It sure didn't save lives there. I would rather have 13,000 guns on campus. Just about everyone on campus is a law abiding citizen. It is not like as soon as a person gets their hands on a gun, they go out and shoot someone. And that way, as soon as the killer shoots one person, someone will shoot him and there will not be nearly as many innocent deaths. There was a guy lose out by Drake that was wanted for murder, among other things, recently. That is not to far from where I live and we had the gun out and ready to go. Had that guy tried to do anything on our property, he would have been shot. I shudder to think what would have happened had that guy broke in our house and we did not have a gun.

It is ridiculous that this is even an issue! Citizens of the United States are free to own and use guns. It is constitutionally guaranteed. Period. That should be the end of the debate. But since some people can not seem to understand that, I will continue. People kill people, not guns or drugs or cars or anything else you can think of. If someone dies because they took drugs, that is their own fault. I will never die from it because I will not abuse drugs. It is about personal responsibility and freedom. Look at how much stuff is smuggled illegally every year. If guns were banned nationwide, criminals would still get their hands on them. I know if I am instructed to stay in a dorm because a killer is lose on campus, I would much rather have a shotgun out and ready to go then sit there with nothing between me and the killer but a locked door. Also, I am a law abiding person, as is most everyone. Just because some idiot uses a gun improperly, should not mean that I can no longer use one.

Thanks Jim. I was doubtful that you would be a fan of Notre Dame, and of course if you are not a fan, it takes a lot of the fun out of doing the site/forum. The reason I brought it up on here is I really like the format of SiouxSports.com. The forum is nice and the other features (news, pics, standing, info, and etc.) are well lade out. You do a good job with SiouxSports.com. Thanks for the nice words.

How many games do you think UND will sell out this year? Both Gopher games I believe are already sold out. I would think the Michigan St game would sell out. How about the DU series? Or New Hampshire?

This is exactly why it is so ridiculous when people bring this kind of stuff up. Nobody has anything against the Sioux when they are cheering against the UND sports teams. I am just as patriotic as the next guy even though I would not necessarily pull for the NFL team. Also, I am a devout Roman Catholic and have no problems with the Padres or Saints. And there are many other Christians that do not have a problem with those teams.

Yep, I think the Sioux would have a decent chance against the Irish. The Irish are not very good this year...

Jim, SiouxSports.com is a very good website. I am also a Notre Dame fan, but I do not like any of the Notre Dame fan sites that I have been to so far as much as SiouxSports.com. So here is the question. Would you like to do a Notre Dame site that is basically a copy of SiouxSports.com (IrishSports?)? Now I know you probably will not, but it was a thought and I figured I would post it. Thanks!

That right Redwing77. We are not responsible for the Indian's condition. Indians ARE! It is about personal responsibility. The Irish people don't seem to be having any problems despite Notre Dame's nickname.

There are plenty of level headed recruits out there. Most recruits look at what kind of school it is and how their athletics are. Not so much the nickname. For example, the best motorcycle road racer of the last 10 years or so said he would never ride with tobacco sponsorship. But sure enough, Yamaha, while sponsored by a tobacco company, managed to sign him and he ended up winning the world championship there. And there are how many BCS teams out there? I am sure we will be able to find someone to play us every year.

I never want to see the name changed. If we can't play UM and UW, so be it. Just because something is "hard" to do, doesn't mean you don't do it. I hope and pray UND never changes their nickname. University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Forever!!

What a bunch of idiots. But like others have said, just ignore them. I hope the game is a sellout and these weirdos get absolutely no coverage and recognition.

This is really a bad deal. As much as I would hate to see a 12 team WCHA, it may have to be done. I would rather have a 12 team conference then lose more schools.

Well, the Sioux might just be able to do it. I have been thinking and saying that the Fighting Sioux might be able to beat my "other" team, Notre Dame. I wonder who is worse this year, Notre Dame or Minnesota? But yeah, I think the Sioux would give the Gophers a run for their money.
