You wouldn't be the first school to drop baseball and you wouldn't be the last. Wouldn't blame you at all.

I'd say 200 mill just for the stadium. And to be frankly honest, that roof doesn't look like it opens very much from that picture. Reminds me of the current Cowboy's stadium except that the top part opens up. You just really don't need the roof, IMO. I'd say another 100 mill just for the roof.

See! I told you! But my question remains: if you aren't going to be competing with Montana and Montana State, and you're not, why take the time and effort to cherry pick? Why not also cherry pick in Oregon, West Virginia and Maine while you're at it?

The indoor training facility is almost an exact duplicate of what Akron built a few years ago: I think you'll get that built. NDSU needs to build an indoor football facility. The retractable roof stadium is quite a fantasy. Unless you get a 200 million gift, you won't be building that in the next 10 years.

The state of North Dakota does produce DI talent. I just hope UND leaves a couple for NDSU!
-
I think in 20 years you could see women's football as a spring NCAA sport. Boy that sure would help out with title IX!

Illinois and Texas are both recruited by Gateway schools. Every Chicago and Houston prospect we get is one the Gateway schools don't.

I'm not trying to prove that UND recruiting Montana is morally unjustified. Simply, you can use recruiting as a double edged sword. If you take bread from your opponents breadbasket, you're filling your own basket while simultaneously taking bread away from theirs. If I were UND, I would obviously look to ND, MN, and WI for the bulk, as in the past, but now start pulling from SD and Neb as well as taking a look at Iowa and IL.
-
If that were true he'd be flying out to California, Texas, and Florida every year. Come on now. If he were good enough, damn right we would.
-
What I'm trying to say is that if you were trying to steal recruits away from a rival conference school, that would be one thing. NDSU recruits South Dakota and Nebraska so that SDSU doesn't get those kids. SDSU started recruiting Wisconsin so that they could try to steal a couple from our breadbasket. I expect us to start going into Iowa here soon. But there's no point in going out of your way to recruit a small state where you might get 1 or 2 recruits if you're not playing Montana or Montana State every year in conference. It's as equally pointless as trying to recruit Arkansas to take recruits away from Central Arkansas.
-
I'm still baffled why UND is going after kids from Montana. That would only make sense if you were in the Big Sky conference, which you're not and not going to be.
-
Well in that case it appears 2nd Ave N is left in some capacity.
-
The thing is, the new fieldturf in Ohio stadium is permanently colored as a football field.
-
I don't know if this helps anything but the same skywalk is visable in both pictures:
-
Thanks for the info.
-
Oh I get it, the skyway is going over Columbia. So I take it that Hyslop is in the background and the endzone building is where the old Memorial grandstand is standing now? Is the plan to renovate Hyslop into a 6-8k bball arena?
-
Aren't the parking ramps on the right hand side of this drawing where that parking lot is?
-
I thought the parking lot you're talking of is to become parking ramps?
-
Where would this track/soccer stadium be located? The intersection of 2nd Ave N and 23rd St?
-
At least as far as football goes, UNA football seems like a no brainer for FCS. I don't know about the rest of the school to DI. Seems like the moratorium hasn't stopped schools from announcing plans to move up. Considering proposals to split both DII and DIII into 2 separate divisions, perhaps the NCAA needs to do a self study of the division system?

Mark Cuban, Bill Gates and any other rich guy are not going to give away that much money with no control over how it's spent. Plain and simple won't happen.
-
All rich guys are the same. I don't have to make any assumptions. They don't just give that much money out and ask nothing in return. Just doesn't happen and it won't happen.
-
So going by your logic, Ralph never gave UND 100 million. He decided that he would build a 100 million arena and then let UND play there. Whatever that situation is, what I'm saying is that you'd have the exact same situation with the new football stadium. It would be on UND land but UND would not own or operate it.
-
So what makes you think a donor is going to give money to UND to build a football stadium?
