  1. So Denver is staying DI in order to have lacrosse compete in the DI national championship? Hard to believe that. I still think they'd be better off in DIII with Colorado College. CC even still has a football team. As far as UND in the Gateway. NDSU can only control the way NDSU votes. But rest assured that when the time comes NDSU will vote for UND to be in the Gateway. There's no other possible way it can go down. Having both NDSU and UND in the Gateway gives the most possible opportunities to ND players to play at the highest level of FCS. And it gives the people of ND the most possible opportunities to watch the highest level of FCS and spend money in the state of North Dakota to do so. It also maximizes possible exposure for the state of North Dakota. There's no possible way you can slice it that having both NDSU and UND in the Gateway wouldn't be best for the state of North Dakota. And to that end, there's no possible way NDSU will vote against UND joining. No guarantee on what the rest of the membership votes.
  2. I think the simple fact is that a collegiate NDSU hockey team will never be as successful as UND's team already is. Even if we somehow begged, borrowed or stole our way into the WCHA, we'd never have that kind of success. So, that's why I think NDSU will never attempt an NCAA team. Instead, we'll go for FBS football.
  3. Football. Plain and simple. It's always been about football and always will be about football at NDSU. Unfortunately, the NCAA won't allow you to play up in just football or basketball.
  4. I know you're so desperate to have lacrosse at UND that you'll try to pass anything off as fact that you think will help that agenda. But how in the world are you going to compare lacrosse at DU to lacrosse at Syracuse, Virginia, Johns Hopkins, Duke, etc.?
  5. But, as I say, what benefit is having a DI classification for them? Why not join Colorado College? They'd still be able to participate at the highest level in skiing and hockey.
  6. Ah, interesting point Hammer. I have no idea. Apparently the fact that DIII schools are qualifying for the national skiing tournament is over Sicatoka's head.
  7. So once again, what is keeping Denver in DI? (feel free to move this to a seperate thread if needed)

  9. The stabbing and the football team being horrible notwithstanding, what has the AD at UNC done that's been so bad as to not warrant his finalist spot?
  10. Obviously the Sun Belt has to be their short term target. But does the SB add TSU and go to 14 members or do they add TSU and kick 2 schools out? I don't think any of the current schools would mind seeing Denver go. I bet even Denver wants to leave. On a side note, I have no idea what's keeping Denver in DI. Men's hockey is their sport. After that, pretty much nothing. Why not go DIII and play up in men's and women's hockey?
  11. Like I said over at the bisonsports, the flagship institutions of North Dakota shouldn't be interested in any potential candidate who would only apply if we could guarantee that his application wouldn't be made public.
  12. Well that's too bad. I wish UND could've played them, then Poly wouldn't have any chance of getting on our schedule.
  13. He must be thinking that Poly having both NDSU and SDSU on the schedule in 04 is what kept them out of the playoffs and with the great team Poly has coming back in 08, vowed not to let happen again.
  14. Wouldn't it be something if Cal Poly loses heartbreakers to SDSU, NDSU, and UND 3 years in a row? The school will ban anything with Dakota in the name from campus.
  15. IMO, your best bet is to hire someone who has no past experience with the whole NDSU v UND or Fargo v Grand Forks thing. Just let all the bad blood wash down the river to Winnipeg and start fresh.
  16. I'll be the first to admit that our non conference schedules are nothing to write home about. But what I think he was trying to get at was the great strength of our conference schedule (which in turn necessitates a weak non conference schedule) and the fact that UND isn't in the Gateway yet. But IMO, UND will be in the Gateway by the end of their reclassification to FCS.
  17. Do you have even a message board link? Anything?
  18. It seems plausible to me that Taylor and Chapman are holding NDSU's 11th game open until they can have a chat with UND's new president.
  19. Maybe his comment about UND building the retractable roof stadium got him in trouble afterall?
  20. UMass has a 17k seat stadium: How many high schools have 17k stadiums? The minimum average attendance over a 2 year period is 15k to be in FBS. So they already have a big enough stadium to meet the minimum requirement.
  21. I wouldn' be surprised to see UND in the Gateway eventually. Some NDSU fans might be so pissed that they force NDSU to go FBS, though.
  22. I don't get the petition. I think the SDoHE is going to give it to Kelley on Mon. anyway, rendering the petition moot.
