  1. What about UConn, isn't that in the NE? Also, isn' UMass thinking about moving up as well?
  2. And no doubt the new football conference will be looking for the 2-4 best non BCS football programs to add to make a championship game like the hated rivals ACC. Probably Central Florida to give South Florida a travel partner. So you wouldn't be keen on sending teams to Iowa and Minnesota but sending them to Louisville and South Florida is ok?
  3. Looks good! I wouldn't be surprised if Rutgers is added to the Big 10 to increase the BTN's NYC presence. Any word on a new bball arena?
  4. But did Lennon contact Cavil or did Cavil say "wait a minute, I wonder what Southern Illinois is like..."?
  5. And I suppose you could say the same about Minot state (though it would make more sense to me to have a 4 year in Bismarck and a 2 year in Minot). But to have Mayville and Valley City as 4 years when Eastern ND already has NDSU and UND? Unacceptable waste by the SBoHE. They need to be dropped down to 2 years ASAP.
  6. I fully agree that there should be ample opportunity for rural students to get publically funded skills to take to the workforce. But that mission can easily served (and perhaps be better served) by 2 year schools. Then, if the student decides they want a 4 year degree, they can transfer to NDSU or UND.
  7. Indeed, Wahpeton is a beautiful campus with wonderful students and student athletes. No reason why Mayville, Dickinson, Valley City and Minot can't be exactly the same way and keep all of their athletic teams. That way, no one would lose an opportunity to compete athletically. No kids. But if I have any, I'd be proud to raise them in my birth state.
  8. Dickinson State, Minot State, Mayville State and Valley City State should be forced by the SBoHE to become junior colleges ala NDSCS. NDSU and UND should be the only institutions in the state of North Dakota allowed to grant a bachelor's degree or higher.
  9. I know that the coaches have wanted an early signing period for football.
  10. It hasn't for a while now. I don't know if you have much time to read or care to, but there's a great book on football recruiting in the SEC. It's a bit older (maybe 90s-ish) but interesting. Can't think of the title at the moment. This type of stuff has been going on down there for decades.
  11. First of all, I wouldn't entirely be against another guarantee home game as long as the team is in the FCS and we don't sign a home/home with them. We're already traveling to Sam Houston in 2009. Buying a ticket to watch an NDSU football game should be about watching the NDSU football team. It shouldn't matter who they're playing. And second, all it would take would be for Youngstown to move our game with them to either Sept 27 or Sept 13, rather than Sept 20. They have unofficial games on those dates, but if it's not official they might be able to move somethings around.
  12. http://www.areavoices.com/bisonmedia/?blog=19941 We're trying to get a game @ Wisconsin.
  13. Why people who post of message boards allow themselves to be taken advantage of? Just ignore him for Christ's sake. If he's just trying to get a rise out of you, you've given that to him and more.
  14. Lord knows, that ugly white box needs something. In that sense, it's too bad that the BSA renovation money is going to be put toward the Fargodome bball arena expansion. But we need that new arena more than we need a remodeled BSA at this point. Hopefully both will happen relatively soon.
  15. DI football (mostly FBS, but also at the very top level of FCS) is a business. Most of the NCAA sports are just that, sport. But at the top level, football and men's basketball are not a whole lot different than the NFL and NBA, other than more teams and you don't pay the players directly.
  16. You're still thinking in terms of DII. That's normal in DI.
  17. It'd be cool if SDSU had a dome. Then all of the Dakota 4 would have domes. But my gut tells me that SDSU wants to stay at Caughlin and build their new athletics center in one of the endzones and then rebuild the visiting side stands. This might be what USD needs to legitmately compete in FCS, along with a new bball arena.
  18. Plus, BV doesn't have me.
  19. All it means is you agree to give the NCAA a cut of the money you take in from the game. The one who agrees to give more gets the game. That's also why they don't seed all 8 home games. Potentially, you could have 8 teams like UT Martin, who are really good but don't draw many fans. ESPN2 doesn't show the games for free.
  20. You do realize that 4 of the 1st round FCS playoff games have no seeded teams, meaning that the home game goes to whoever bids the highest for it, don't you?
  21. I assume you're going to try to schedule 12, since no playoffs. That's leaves still 3 more games to schedule (assuming the 4 rumored games come through). And Saint Cloud, a D2, is also one of the rumored games. So you already have 2 D2 teams out of 9 probable games in 2009 vs. us having 1 D2, 1 NAIA and 1 FCS non scholarship in 2004.
  22. So you'd take TAMUK over Carson Newman, a perennial top 25 team? http://www.gobison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...mp;ATCLID=76438
  23. Yeah yeah, fine fine, in 2008 UND won't be on NDSU's schedule because UND isn't a counter yet. That changes in 2009. In 2005 Cal Poly played: UC Davis, U N Colorado, NDSU and SDSU, all of whom were not DI active members yet but all were counters, just as UND will be starting in 2009. Call Poly made the playoffs in 2005. UND on NDSU's schedule starting in 2009.
  24. We've never hosted a playoff game in the Fargodome. That changes in 2008. Regardless if we're seeded or not, we'll easily outbid whoever we're matched up with for the home game. Will you be there? 19k+ will.
